The Hansen induction/Inoki acceptance speeches at the 2010 HOF are pretty rough. Crowd's gonna be into this though.

Interesting response from Dave near the end of WOR on whether there was a political reason for NXT being left out of promotion for Mania shows on the network last night, just breaking down that either the company feels it's not marketable, not as important as the other shows or "for whatever internal reason." But he sounded actually frustrated about it when it was brought up. Where is Dylan's article?

Jericho will probably argue to Vince it was quick thinking to shove the ref but really it looked like he just lost his cool on Robinson for botching the fall and the idea of calling for the bell on a DQ followed quickly after. Could've even been Robinson's idea. Anyway, it looked ridiculous after Jericho screaming he's hurt at the top of his lungs. They could have just called the match because he was injured in that case. Hope Neville has a good recovery and Jericho stays off TV for a long, long time after Mania.

Is Ivelisse that much smaller than Jack Evans? If people think Mil should be completely invincible that's one thing, but I don't think there would be as much complaining if Evans got a nearfall on the big guy either. And anyway, the crowd bought it. She was also laying in chops and kicks before Son of Havoc would outmuscle her and ate huge offense during the match like that knee in the corner. So if she can take that legit and come back what was so unbelievable about the match compared to normal LU flippity flop shit?

Probably would also trust Austin, who wasn't even in the company, to know Repo-man was after Demolition, not before.

Nah, not really. You're saying Vince's master plan to get back at Lana for supposedly turning him down was to pair her with...Ziggler? And that being with someone else so above Rusev's station (/s) would break them up in real life?
-
That's the thing, most of these examples have to do with the other wrestlers getting involved and the dangers of "working to close" on the road. And Sunny was still Sunny in ECW, too. Somehow though people believe there is now a conspiracy from the top down to ruin Lana and Rusev's relationship. It doesn't make any sense. Especially if you believe what Meltzer says about Rusev not having any heat, and he's the source of these rumors. So why then?
-
Back to Lana and the OP...Was the company actually trying to break them up IRL at first or only after their was heat on Lana? If so, for what reason? What plans do you think they could have had for her? Just like to fuck with people? Vince having an "If I can't have her" obsession or what?

Like Sherri? https://youtu.be/pIR4y3DnE2Y?t=5m9s Yeah, I guess that would be a vintage Flair promo he could cut about how he "dazzled" her. Edit: or something that just happens on a random flight. But it mostly came across in my house as a way to distract Becky for a few seconds while Charlotte was down without getting disqualified.

It would have been more okay if commentators and the presentation in general had emphasised that it was pretty disgusting, the way JR used to be outraged when Shawn Michaels used to be [a word I cannot remember] of his dignity". They actually used the words: low, desperate, disgusting.

Well, because of PG restrictions, Flair obviously couldn't do that, but, if you ask for my personal opinion, I would argue that a heel sneakily physically attacking a face is less offensive than what happened. My reasoning for that is because sexual assault is a different nature of crime; one in which, as Sek said, women are treated as nothing more than objects for sexual gratification, and are essentialised and reduced from being human beings to pleasure-giving robots. On the other hand, Flair low-blowing Becky would have meant that he recognised that Lynch was not only a person, but a dangerous competitor who needed to be weakened if his daughter had any hopes of winning. So, yeah. Just my two cents I hope this actually happens and after Michael Cole demands he goes to jail that JBL says, "at least he didn't objectify her."

In this climate, would it be better or worse if Ric had put her in the figure four or gave her a low blow?
-
I remember they did replay it. As far as debuts, AJ's response was great but nothing comapred to how huge Jericho's WWE debut still comes across on video.

Brock just accepting it and walking away from the ring without fighting them all to the back or something made him look like a chump.

Arn Anderson vs Windham from NWA TV 9-12-87 is a pretty sweet match. Great selling. Arn starting off talking shit, pointing the finger, shoving. So few high spots and they keep the crowd in into. Other fun stuff like when AA takes a powder, Windham follows him out and and some girl in the crowd wipes the sweat off his back, stares at her hand and starts screaming.

He doesn't have to dress up like the Rock or anything but surely they could avoid having him look like actual turd...the color just did not flatter his figure. That's the point. Mankind is a digusting freak that lived in the boiler room and tore out his hair. He was the company's Quasimodo. He wasn't supposed to appear flattering in the slightest. And it got over. See, that is kind of hypocritical. The original post has IRS being taken to task on his ring attire, but that is the point of IRS, he is a pencil pushing evil taxman. Then another post has mentions of all those characters in the 90s that dressed up like their occupation would demand like Duke the Dumpster. That stuff made sense for their characters but its okay for people to rip on them for it but Mankind gets a pass because he's supposed to be a freak? Pick a lane and stick to it, people. Never said they didn't make sense. IRS dressed logically like an accountant and logically it was very boring. The Mankind gear doesn't need a pass. It got over. That's the difference. You saying you would have preferred something flattering is fine. But I don't see why it would've helped.

Nothing in the way he said it or the words he used implied she "should be able to handle a kick to the face." Not at all. Fuck. Same with his girlfriend wrestling years ago. More like, she's ACTUALLY a former wrestler from years and years ago, hey whaddaya know? With about 2 dozen "ums" and "sos" in between. Reading way too much into that. But the way he still mocked the girlfriend's depression as due to a fake wrestling angle or "women being emotional" when there are obviously serious problems in the relationship was bizarre. According to Dave "It's not a big deal in Japan" compared to what would happen in the US, he hasn't been taken off shows, and the story wasn't even brought up till the end of the show, where it came in as a mailbag question.

DM: It's a weird thing because Tomoaki Honma actually has some deal going on television where he's doing a gimmick where he's in love with this very famous, or formerly famous, pop singer and model from the nineties who was really big in like 1995, 1997...Anyway, his real girlfriend, who nobody knows about, who's actually a former wrestler from years and years back, it's his girlfriend for 18 years, she’s jealous of this - she's a wrestler - she's jealous of this worked angle he's doing on television, where he's in love with, you know, the pop star girl. So she's going through depression because he's doing a worked angle and anyway, it's women. What can I say? And then they went out to dinner- this would have been very recently – they go out to dinner and another girl shows up who I guess he was having an affair with four years ago. Now, keep in mind these two have been together for 18 years, so when you do the math, it’s not a good thing. So they get into a really big fight once they come back from dinner and she’s going off on him something fierce and I guess somewhere in the point of her going off on him, she realized she’s gone way too far with whatever she was saying, so she apologizes. And he kicks her in the face. Allegedly kicks her in the face. So, she said that and said that he’s mean to the dog and…it’s one of those things.

What matches at that level in the history of the company weren't pushed immediately after as revolutionary or iconic though?
