  1. The Roku news is great. I won't be using it but know a few people who haven't jumped in yet because of it. As for the broader site, so long as you keep the old Houston footage coming at least 4 or 5 matches a week, you've got me on board for the long haul. I'm as happy with the service now as I was when I first signed up, maybe even more so now that I'm more acclimated with the territory. I will jump back on for sure with the Roku app being available.
  2. Excerpts from the Pro Wrestling Observer by David Keller from April 7, 2001 ECW may not be dead? When Paul Heyman showed up on Raw and RVD showed up on WCW we all thought ECW was long dead. However on April 4th, HHG Corp., the parent company of ECW, officially filed a voluntary Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Petition. What does that mean? A Chapter 11 Bankruptcy is a formal attempt at reorganization. In plain English: The company still exists and still continues to operate. Paul Heyman is still the owner and he still has operating control. His mandate, however, has changed. His objective now is to develop a plan to satisfy creditors, either by paying them back or coming to some other acceptable resolution. The plan could involve shutting down, selling everything, and using the cash to pay everyone back. Or it could be to rebuild and restart, and use the new money earned to pay them back. The Bankruptcy Petition formally holds his creditors at bay for the time being to allow him the chance -- i.e. he doesn't have to pay them while the plan is being developed. Once a plan is developed, if it makes the creditors happy, it's a go. Essentially Heyman can restart and rebuild, sell everything and pay everyone back, someone else buys ECW, or sit back and wait as he has 120 days to make a plan. The three biggest rumours going around are: 1) Heyman decides to rebuild with youth and run more out of the North East. 2) Vince McMahon buys ECW and does an Invasion angle. 3) Heyman sells off all the assets and gets out the best he can. We should know more in next week's newsletter.
  3. That explains a lot. I know, eh?
  4. If the shows don't look and feel different, then this is a waste. Different rings is a good idea.
  5. Kind of excited. GLOW was the first wrestling I ever saw. Love Netflix, love Orange is the new Black.
  6. Excerpts from the Pro Wrestling Observer by David Keller from April 7, 2001 Low Ki's meeting with WCW went well, although he has not signed yet. The Cruiserweight division is posed to be a huge part of the new WCW and Assistant Booker Gabe Sapoloski is very high on Ki as a centerpiece of the division. We are told Ki should be making his decision next week. Already signed who could be considered cruiserweights are: Rey Mysterio Jr., Billy Kidman, Shane Helms, Psicosis, Jason Jett, Kaz Hayashi, Jimmy Yang, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Kid Romeo, Elix Skipper, Jamie Noble, and Shannon Moore. Yoshihiro Tajiri has signed as well and is set for a huge push. James Mitchell, Tajiri's ECW manager, also met with WCW about returning. No word yet, on how that went. Other that have talked to WCW, but have not yet signed are AJ Styles, Air Paris, Ikuto Hidaka, Super Crazy, Antifaz del Norte, Shark Boy, Dick Togo, Christopher Daniels, Christian York and Joey Matthews. On top of the NJPW working agreement, WCW has also put out feelers to CMLL, AAA, and Toryumon about making similar deals. For the return of WCW at the Clash of the Champions on May 7th, there is the El Samurai & Jushin Liger vs Elix Skipper & Kid Romeo match, but there will be two more cruiserweight matches. Shane Helms will defend his Cruiserweight title and there will be a six man tag showcasing new and old talent. A new draw added to the Clash is a Terry Funk appreciation ceremony. Whether this will be another retirement or an angle is unknown. If it is an angle, expect it as a tool to debut a new talent. Whether it's someone that has talked to WCW in the past like Steve Corino or someone else from ECW, we are not sure. Jerry Lawler is someone else that has talked to WCW, but we are not sure of what role. WCW did announce it's special events schedule as follows: 7/8 Bash at the Beach 2001 @ Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, FL 8/6 Clash of the Champions XXXVI @ Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, NY (live on USA Network) 9/16 Fall Brawl @ United Center in Chicago, IL 10/28 Halloween Havoc @ MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV 11/12 Clash of the Champions XXXVII @ Air Canada Center in Toronto, ON (live on USA Network) 12/30 Starrcade @ Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA11111
  7. Watching GLOW with my older sister.
  8. Their main focus the last two years is to keep Roman strong, and the whole gimmick is that the MITB is pretty much a guaranteed title win. There's no reason for them to create a second title (and thereby risk recreating the main issue that sunk the brand split the last time) unless they wanted another belt for the briefcase holder to win So it took like 8 years for the god awful unforgiveable sin of each brand having a main title to "sink" the brand split? You'd think if it was such a terrible thing it wouldn't have taken that long. You'd almost think the real reason Smackdown stopped being a viable touring group is because Jeff Hardy left and then they tried to replace their other big draw Rey Mysterio with Randy Orton. They want another belt because they are going to do another split and they want each show to have a main title. They aren't making a new belt just for the fucking MITB winner. Yes, there is some sense to having two titles. Each brand gets to feel like they are equal. The issues with two titles comes from when they clearly present a show as more important (ie Raw). When Brock and Triple H were champions, no issues. Both things felt important. When Raw was clearly the A show and Smackdown the B show, then the Smackdown title became an IC level belt and just devalued everything. The best way to go is make the IC/US titles as the main belts on each show and the World Champion touring. Heck, you have NXT too, so he can tour there too. Say Roman is draft to Raw, is the World Champion still. Well if he even loses the title he would be Raw exclusive, but in the meantime, he can spend a month on the road with Raw, a month with Smackdown, then a month with NXT or whatever. All the while the IC, US and NXT Titles are the main belts on each show.
  9. Plex is pretty good, it's how I watch the LU I download. Didn't know there was a ROH channel. That's makes me 10% more likely to watch their TV.
  10. It feels like one of those matches that is a joy to watch live and maybe even the first time you see it, but would have no staying power.
  11. Pivotshare is great because they seem to automatically make a Roku channel for the services and those work very well but the player is absolute rubbish on browser so it's a double edged sword, similarly YouTube is great on browser but the player controls suck on Roku actually Vemo is actually the best on both Roku and browser with the best system of linking your acct across platforms unfortunately they seem to only offer a VOD model with no subscription option as of yet. So in closing I agree with your point it's just no one has perfected it yet. I've found YouTube is usable on Roku if you pair it with your phone and tablet and just find what you need there and cast it to the Roku channel. the search on the roku for youtube is not that bad.
  12. Who cares? Vince Russo is the worst, why would I speculate about his shitting taste in wrestling? lighten up If this is a joke thread, make better jokes.

  14. They did an 8 hour podcast on Starrcade 2000? Why?
  15. I don't understand what this means.
  16. Click here Tim and Steven are joined by first time guest Devon Hales to focus on current wrestling. The Super crew, through much debate, decide upon three man teams from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan, UK, and International (anyone not from the previous countries). In the second half of the show, the teams are matched up and we decide who wins the World Cup based on those teams. Some real fun debates. Apologies for some technical difficulties.
  17. If more than one person is the top star, then nobody is the top star.
  18. There is a LOT of raiding you can do to NXT and then just shuffle in the Global Crusierweight Series folks onto NXT. Is losing Balor, Joe, etc.. going to hurt that bad if it's then focused on Zack Sabre Jr, Biff Busick, Drew Gulak, La Sombra, etc.. ?
  19. Cena was on Raw, he was the star of the company. Triple H was on Raw, he was the second star of the company. HBK was on Raw, he was the third star of the company. Raw was the bigger deal, even if it was the worst show.
  20. Smackdown was good the whole run, Raw was mostly shit. Big PPVs were devalued due to the two belts. You can always do it right, but we'll see.
  21. maybe he meant roman goes on both shows? it seems the wording could imply either. i'm really hoping they don't split the world title again. World on both... yeah that probably means Roman is on both shows, based on the wording of the rest of it. If they go through with this, and each show is different (production, look, etc...) then I am all for this.
