Sorry if this offends you so much, but this is a major issue with our society, the food issues, and the medical profession. Do these guys need a six pack or a flat stomach? Is that even possible with them? Would that make them healthier? These are questions we do not know the answer to. Why call them fat? What is the point? Let's all post pictures of ourselves and call 99% fat by your standards, will that help anything? They are great or bad pro wrestlers based on their skills, not on their bellies. How is that even relevant to anything? Does it offend you to see their stomachs?

Fine all athletes are overweight. Look at the BMI. Sidney Crosby is fucking obese, based on the scale doctors use. Lets go with that? What the fuck does overweight mean? Do you have any idea what weight a certain person is most healthy at? You really don't, so it's a bullshit thing to talk about.

I wish all wrestlers the best health, but they're neither friend nor family to me. Why is their health something I'm thinking much about at all beyond how it impacts the shows I'm watching? Saying this wrestler is fat is not something in a bubble. There are real life consequences. You have no idea how many people you love or are friends with that struggle with eating issues. I guarantee a LOT do, but just hide it. If someone who is a great athlete is called fat, how does a normal person on the street take that information in? So we should say all wrestlers are in great shape, beautiful because of what's inside and never acknowledge or discuss appearances in a visual performance art because doing so may compound personal issues that people in the audience are facing? That's a heavy burden. Never said that. I discuss wrestlers all the time, wtf do we need to talk about their shape at all? Maybe if they are supposed to be playing a strong power wrestler and are not strong and powerful, sure? When does that happen though? By the way, you have no idea if someone is in great shape by looking at them. My wife lost a LOT of weight and got all this praise, yet she was unhealthy as fuck thanks to binge and restricting food. She was healthier with 20 more pounds on her. You don't know if somebody is in great shape based on looks, you just don't.

Why equate less weight with better health? That's not a fact AT ALL. In fact, a lot of research suggests that each person has a set point where they are at optimal health. A six pack or super skinny is not automatically healthier than someone with a gut. That's a bullshit narrative that has been pushed by the media, fashion, magazines, and health food companies.

Does fat mean out of shape? Like is Hero's weight affected his health? There is a HUGE myth in the medical profession about weight. In fact the system they use has Sidney Crosby as overweight, so it's bullshit. Do we know if Hero is at risk of diabetes or high cholesterol? He can certainly do all the athletic things he needs to do, so why even talk about his body? Set weight theory is something that may be true, studies are still trying to figure it out, but if it is, that shit might be out of his control and out of most people's. This bullshit about aesthetic appearance and weight having this huge effect on health is really crazy. A lot of this crap is the medical/food industry pushing diets and unrealistic ideals to make them more money. Talking about fat and weight is something that is causing so much harm. My wife has an eating disorder. Since she's been open about it, she has realized that just about every women she meets has struggled with that. Isn't that a FUCKED up thing? Shouldn't we maybe, as a society, get away from making people feel they need to starve themselves or binge to be healthy?

Looks matter is different than saying I think Lovelace should be under a mask, or Mickie James is fat, or Owens is too fat, etc... There is room for all types of bodies, shapes, looks, and you can use them differently. That's a whole different story altogether. Just because you book someone that looks like Strowman different than TJP, doesn't mean that's it's all the sudden cool to call someone like Hero fat and gross. EDIT: I guess my one sentence confused the issue. When I said "Wrestling fans talking about looks, weight, etc... of wrestlers (both men and women) is something we need to get away from as it's pretty damn destructive." I didn't mean we can't talk about monsters and how looks work towards characters. I meant the above stuff.

The problem with that is it is driving the people in the business into steroids and eating disorders. It's not healthy at all. Chris Hero is a great athlete and a great wrestler. He gets completely mocked for his belly and it's ridiculous. Beautiful people get called out for being ugly all the time, skinny people called fat, etc.. Wrestling Culture did a great podcast on body dysmorphia a few years back that people should listen to. Again, if I am a fan at home and I hear people call someone like Molly Holly or Mickie James fat, what do you think that does to a girl's brain? By the way, Kevin Owens and Bray Wyatt are concerned fat and unfit for their roles on television, by many, seriously this is completely messed up.

If you don't say this about the men, don't say it about the women. Vince cares about looks, we get it. Also, Vince doesn't really put people in masks either, so that's a bullshit statement. The issue here is, Lovelace was hired and she is a great talent. Why add the other baggage? If they really thought she was too ugly (which she is not some hideous beast) they wouldn't had hired her. Wrestling fans talking about looks, weight, etc... of wrestlers (both men and women) is something we need to get away from as it's pretty damn destructive.

I guess what I meant is that she has a toned body and is physically attractive in the way that WWE wants, rather than any particular look. Even though she's a good worker, I don't think Kellie Skater is going to get hired by WWE and pushed any time soon. If they are hiring off of looks and they hired Heidi Lovelace, anyone can get hired. She is a fantastic worker, but if Vince doesn't put her in a mask I'll be shocked. Seriously dude?

Lots of people, because he's freaking getting giant reactions and selling a lot of merch.

Hmmm... this shit is awesome, what are you talking about? It ran its course a while ago. Styles seemed to make some silly comedy out of it last night, but beyond that there's nothing you can do with Ellsworth at this point. Well past the sell by date. Exactly. Even if you are easily entertained and found this angle amusing at it's onset, it has been ridden well past the point where it's still fresh or has anything to offer. AJ hasn't beaten Ellsworth yet, so it hasn't ran it's course. Ellsworth is still over. Dean gets to destroy Ellsworth. So much left in this tank.

It was a small example, when Meltzer said promoters never showed racism, they only cared about money. A small example Bix used, which Meltzer called reverse racism. To deny any promoters didn't push certain people due to racism is insanity on Meltzer's part.

It's hard to make points not clumsy, when they are completely wrong. Clumsy but not wrong What? Bill Watts was a racist, because he thought the black fans would accept any black wrestler as a star, so kept pushing George Wells, Snowman, etc.. as replacements for JYD. Not realizing JYD was a star, because of his charisma. He's saying that's not racism against black people, but in fact, Bill Watts was being racist against white people there? That's Dave's point, and it's just wrong. Bill Watts was not racist against white people when pushing George Wells and Snowman. Steven, I think Watts understood how charismatic JYD was and how hard he would be to replace. What he was trying to do was to provide representation to a large portion of his audience that had been drawn in by JYD in part (but certainly not completely) due to his race with the limited options he had available. He did this so that they would continue to buy tickets. That doesn't mean he wasn't racist. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, but I think that things are much more nuanced than you're presenting. We're in a world right now where there's a lot of discussion about providing minority (racial, lgbt, or otherwise) representation in media. Some of it is well-meaning. Some of it is highly profit driven (such as including generally throwaway Chinese characters and/or moments in movies so that a movie will "draw" in China). Which are fair points. Metlzer did brush it off that ALL promoters were not racist and only saw green (came from a discussion why Butch Reed was never in NWA Title contention). Wanting represenation of minorities is great (I praise my government for making their cabinet half men, half women with sikh and native members). However, calling that reverse racism is just insanity. Also saying racism didn't matter to bookers is just insanity.

SD is so well booked. Two really good matches to start here.
-
People don't watch Smackdown. You should, it's great.
-
All very fair points. I do have a question though. Why is he not a money draw? Just maybe because he's not doing anything prominent with the bigger stars. This sounds like WWE saying Bryan wasn't a draw, so they are going with others instead. Could be wrong, don't follow well, but has he ever been given an opportunity?
-
Never said Castle needs the belt, he just needs to be treated like a top star.
-
If ROH knows he is a money draw then they are fucking insanely stupid. It's been obvious for atleast 18 months and he's on the undercard of their biggest show of the year facing Colt Cabana. Wow, he may move up to the TV Title level? Dude should be the focus of the company.

That was a rumor. Part of that rumor was that ECW would end up moving from MSG Network and TNN to ESPN 2. Another rumor was that due to the AOL Time Warner merger, WCW would get the plug pulled and ECW would get Thunder's slot. Another rumor was that some record executive was going to buy the company. I remember them talking to USA Network, since they lost Raw too.
