  2. Since it's the end of the year, any end of the year awards for 1984? If everybody voted a top 3 list, where you could only have 1 from your promotion on it, I think you would get a fair result.
  3. Seriously how many hall of famers and all time legends do you need?
  4. Holy shit Delta and Galactar killed it with this amazing mascara match. This felt like a real fight with a great atmosphere and crowd. Although it was mostly hate filled, there was some crazy dives too. Such drama, plus broom attacks. If you are making a MOTY list without watching this match, your list will be lacking.
  5. A press release from the CMLL has revealed their new roster after the merger of EMLL and UWA. The technicos will feature two main units, inlcuding: Los Brazos (Brazo de Oro y Brazo de Plata y El Brazo) and Los Caudillos (Sangre Chicana y Mocho Cota y La Fiera). EMLL had a great base of technicos and many will continue with CMLL: Perro Aguayo Cien Caras Atlantis Alfonso Dantes Ringo Mendoza Cachorro Mendoza MSuper Astro Solar Ultraman Tony Acre Vulcano Valente Fernandez Gran Cochisse Hombre Bala Tony Salazar Technicos arriving from UWA include: El Canek (when he is not on tour with NJPW) El Hijo del Santo Popitekus Rookie who is being trained by Ray Mendozza and is working spot shows Miguel perez Jr. will debut at Arena Mexico sometime, when Mendozza feels he is ready. The rudo side is loaded with trios units. Staying on from EMLL is Los Infernales (El Satanico y MS-1 y Pirata Morgan). While Los Missioneros de la Muerte (Negro Navarro y El Texano y El Signo) and Los Villanos (Villanos III, IV, y V) are coming in from the UWA. 6. I understand and that is probably the most fair for the game, but just wanted to point out the reality. Different companies had deals and they did not work with both. Baba and Inoki would not allow that. Bulldogs wanted to work AJPW and the WWF, but they weren't allowed to do both since WWF had a deal with NJPW. That kind of stuff happened all the time. For the game, we can do whatever you folks want though. As for CMLL, they will deal with NJPW and that is all from Japan. It feels wrong otherwise, for me.
  7. Which in theory is great however you have guys like the Bulldogs who were WWF guys that went to AJPW while the others went to NJPW. Then you have the individuals who we have on our rosters who are touring talents who weren't initially with our promotions back in the 80s. I really think the best thing is what Gordi has done. Plain and simple. He has reached out to us and given us his touring schedule. If Thunderlips does that, he will get the same kind of response and we will give him the talent needed to make his tours special. When Bulldogs went to AJPW, they left the WWF.
  8. I thought in the 80s NJPW and AJPW had deals with certain promotions, like NJPW was with the WWF, while AJPW was with AWA for example. If NJPW and AJPW make deals with certain promotions, that way they could send talent on tours and vice versa.
  9. Anyone who claims the only reason wrestling fans are so negative is because Raw isn't good or too long, read these last few pages.
  10. That one always confuses me. Thanks for the clear explanation. Took me a while of watching every week before I understood that one.
  11. So, two days before the 52nd Anniversary Show in September a 8.0 Earthquake hits Mexico City and the show has to be cancelled the company takes a break for a few weeks, until the building is safe. Any ruling on what I should do about that?
  12. I just realized some people may not understand lucha libre rules. For trios matches, once somebody goes to the outside a partner may enter. No need to tag. All matches are 2/3 Falls. Now, for trios match this is the important part. You only win the fall by either pinning the captain or by pinning the other two members of the team. That is why I listed the captains above. Automatic DQ for a low blow or ripping off the mask. Masks and Hair are more important than titles. Titles defended like once or twice a year and usually champions keep the belts for years. Titles not the big deal, but unmasking or shaving your opponent's head is. Heels=rudos Babyfaces=technicos Those are called such by the fans, and there are rudo fans. Essentially a rudo cheats and has a rougher style, while the technico works a technical and clean style. That's the main things that are different.
  13. That reminds me. If you have a youngster who you are not ready to push, but you want them working? Send them to Mexico, we'll give them a mask and let them work 8 times or so a week in undercard trios matches. When they are ready to go home, they can lose a mask match and head back to your area with a lot more experience and some good money.
  14. What does everybody want to see out of the old stable and solid CMLL? You'll get maybe 3-4 mask matches a year (I'm thinking like one a quarter) and the slow title defenses (like each title twice a year) as a given. I'm thinking of a bigger angle with the UWA rudos, but we'll see. Might be too ridiculous for CMLL. One thing you will get back is the lucha skits! If anybody remembers El Satanico appearing as the King on a chess board or Super Porky dreaming of eating a sandwich, expect a lucha skit on each tv. I hope.
  15. The new era of Arena Mexico will begin on January 4th as Super Viernes returns! Paco Alonso, the new President of CMLL, will be there in person as the world's oldest wrestling promotion rebrands itself. Alonso will also welcome the incoming talent from UWA personal! Two huge trios matches will headline the return of Super Viernes with one featuring the top stars of CMLL and the other featuring the new stars of CMLL. In what could become a wild brawl, as the tehnicos with captain Cien Caras y Sangre Chicano y Perro Aguayo will take on the rudos of Los Infernales consisting of Captain El Satanico y MS-1 y Pirata Morgan. Chicano and MS-1 have had a legendary rivalry in the past and everybody in this contest is known for their brawling. Expect a war. In the other main event, two of the top trios and familia's in Mexico make their way to Arena Mexico as the technico Los Brazos (Captain Brazo de Oro y El Brazo y Brazo de Plata) will meet the rudo Los Villanos (Captain Villano III y Villano IV y Villano V). These two trios have been the talk of UWA and now they will be the talk of Mexico. The technico Mexican National Light Heavyweight Champion Valente Fernández will defend his title against the young upstart rudo Negro Casas. Casas has a lot of confidence and wants to take home a title as he starts the next part of his career. A few more matches will be announced in the next few weeks.
  16. So it wasn't just that you had a great topic, it's that you are an amazing writer? This is right up there with your M-Pro stuff, I hope more of the robot appears, but I'm hooked.
  17. Did you mean for that to come across as impolite? It's difficult for me to give exact dates. I have a small company teaching private English lessons, my schedule has to be very flexible. My wife is a professional midwife, so her schedule is nuts. So: My work life and my family life are both impossible to predict most of the time. As such, I never know when I'll have time to write, so I prefer to keep things relatively flexible. That being said, It's only fair to let people know precise tour dates so that they can schedule around them. Hopefully, it's OK if I end up posting something a day or two ahead of or behind the posted schedule, but just ask everyone to imagine that it fits in the schedule. Sooooooooo: January; Big card on the 4th, then January 11-26th or so. Big end-of -tour cards on the 23rd, 24th, and 26th February 3rd through 27th. Semi-finals and finals on the 25th and 27th. (It's the tag fest. Dos Caras and Canek will have a VERY big role in that. Might need them, specifically, to do some promo work in the days after) March 8th through 23rd. Big Fukuoka show on the 23rd April 8th through 26th. Big Tokyo Show on the 26th. Festival of Champions: May 8th through June 21st. Big Sapporo Show May 29th, Big Yokohama Show June 21st. IWGP CLIMAX: July 1st through 28th. Semi-finals and Final: June 26th and 28th in Tokyo. August: 8th through 22nd. Big Osaka Show on the 22nd. Super Juniors Tournament, 22nd through 31st. Finals in Tokyo August 31st. September 7th through 27th. Big 3 Title Defense shows in Fukuoka on the 9th, Saitama on the 16th, and Osaka on the 27th. Overseas Tour: October: 14th through 28th. (Canek and Dos Caras can be free all month if you want them). November 10th through 24th. Big Tokyo Card on the 24th. December 3rd through 26th: Road to January 4th. Major Osaka Card on the 26th. If these dates conflict with anyone else's Big Shows, freelance dates, or other plans please let me know ASAP and I will be happy to flex things around. In terms of my writing, I plan to do weekly TV and Monthly Big Card write-ups, but in the flexible first-person narrative style I'm using now. Most likely dates for me to be off by a day or two are the write ups for the big monthly shows. I'll try to do them up early, save them on Word, then post them on the day as much as possible. No that's perfect. Sorry, was in a rush and typed it horribly.
  18. January dates, so I know when to book Canek and Caras and know when I can't.
  19. I always plan out a major card, whether it's 3 or 6 months away. Then I have the people in those matches work towards those matches.
  20. Did Bret ever say himself why he didn't sue, even just to extract a token settlement? The somewhat obvious reason everyone always mentions is that Bret attacked Vince afterwards, so he was afraid of the countersuit. Why sue? He was leaving anyways and punched him out for revenge.
  21. Has Bret's contract ever actually been published in any lawsuit? The most common formulation I see quoted is that Bret had "reasonable creative control" over his character for the last 30 days prior to any early termination of his contract, which certainly wouldn't give him veto power over anything. If that's the case, there's a pretty obvious counterargument. He refused to lose in Canada, but the only PPV during the last 30 days of his contract was in Canada, so he was effectively refusing to lose on PPV. Given the way title changes happened in the WWF at that time, it's easy to see that as an unreasonable request. Reasonable was defined as Bret and Vince agree.
  22. I hate when this happens, but I agree with . I don't think anybody was really "right" in this situation. It was a "heel angle." Bret had a contract, Vince asked him to break it and leave. In that contract there is a clause that both parties have to agree with all booking if the contract is ending. Case closed, it's really not that complicated.
  23. Holy shit people think Vince was right or that Montreal was a work in 2016? This has been debunked over and over again. Bret had reasonable creative control (reasonable being agreed upon by Bret/Vince) and a month left on his contract.
  24. Looking at Japan tour dates, do they not have shows till March?
  25. Long day at work, it's Holidays in retail means Steven is now in dick mode!! Apologies.
