  1. "I saw the ground in 3D." is up there with "It's not hot." with the weirdest sentences ever said in a pro wrestling context.
  2. As soon as they announce that "refusing a tag is an automatic DQ" it's very obvious that we will see Lane vs. Prichard in this one.
  3. "I am Dutch Mantell and you're not." is a great catchphrase.
  4. The earliest I could find was the UK PPV Capital Carnage in late 98. King of the Ring 99 had no wrestlers on the main card that are not among us anymore, however Paul Bearer was managing the Undertaker and Boss Man was working on heat.
  5. Yeah, I realize he's season 3, but there are a couple of guys who auditioned for earlier seasons, didn't get in, tried again in later seasons and got in then. I thought maybe Morrison was one of them. He is. He's in the first/tryout episode of series 2 and somebody -- I think Dunn -- dismisses him with words to the effect of calling him a spot monkey. Which he still is, to a degree.
  6. I am sure Bill Watts was furious at a spot early in the match when Pillman being in a headlock forgot to kick-out and the ref stopped the count anyway.
  7. As I am more than halfway through the set: I just cannot get into the Lawler/Jarrett vs. Moondogs feud as being a feud of the year candidate. They had a great month and everything afterwards is really repetitive. You could watch the segments in a completely random order and you would hardly notice it. There is no advancement after the replacement of Fuller with Jarrett at all.
  8. I really prefer this pacing to the AJW go-go-go style.

    Current WWE

At least the finish of the mixed 6 men was entertaining. I had to rewind a couple of times to rewatch this thing because it was so awesome.
  10. - I began rewatching old (i.e. 2004) ROH, I want to continue that (though that means having to learn to live with Mark Nulty doing commentary). - Watch the occasional WWE PPV. - Finish watching the 92 yearbook and watch the 93 yearbook.
  11. That was the one that aired on Prime Time if I recall right both Jannetty & Virgil got involved near the end of the match I think. The Stars & Stripes forever special for more build towards Bossman/Perfect for the IC belt. Something tells me they could have come up with a better challenger who seemed like they had a chance as Bossman winning the title at mania didnt seem likely. Bret-Owen vs Steiners is my favorite Coliseum match. Perfect-Piper from Battle of the WWF Superstars is really good too. WrestleFest '94, home of said Harts/Steiners match, is a pretty solid watch front to back. Good Martel/Savage match, HBK/Razor in decent action. Invasion '92 has an exclusive of the good first Bret/Flair match from November 1991. And SuperTape 1 is probably easier to hunt down for the 1/90 Rockers/Powers match than the MSG show itself. I could probably come up with a bunch of these if I looked at the match listings. Wrestlefest 94 was a pretty decent tape. Loved that Kings Court exclusive where Lawler ran his mouth about Bret, had a clause that said he can say what he want but Bret cant touch him or Bret pays a ton of money then Bret says screw it and just does it anyway. Loved that segment. Pretty sure Taker & Crush battled on that one unless im thinking of hits from the crypt. Wasn't the very fun Jannetty & 1-2-3 Kid vs. Headshrinkers match (probably the only successful taped tag title defense of Jannetty/Kid) also on Wrestlefest 94?
  12. Not that it has to do with anything but judging by the pre-entrance cross-gesture from Hase he seems to be a Christian.

    Punk to UFC

Punk never seemed particularly athleticly gifted so this really seems to be a very dumb idea. But hey, if that is what he really wants good for him, I guess.
  14. I saw Chris Hero do the Styles Clash 12 years (or so ago) live where the guy taking the thing probably did take it wrong as well (I can only assume, I have never seen footage after the fact) and broke his neck (and ending his career). The guy could at first not move his legs and the show had to be stopped.
  15. I am not sure if it was the language barrier between Liger and Wellington or if Wellington tried to sandbag Liger here. Anyway he looked good in spots and horrible in others. According to Wikipedia "Wellington worked on 28 consecutive tours with New Japan Pro Westling" sp Wellington should have been familiar with Liger so the sandbagging seems to be the only explanation.
  16. I would assume that he learned English in school like it is usual in most European countries. Current situation in Switzerland is that schools have to teach one foreign language for pupils of the age of 9-10 and a second one for pupils at the age of 11 and older. So I would assume for most schools in the German speaking regions of Switzerland (which Luzern is part of) that means English at the age of 9 and French at the age of 11.
  17. Gilbert's face turns so red here you would think that he was close to a heart attack.
  18. If the story with the doctor is even remotely true that guy should be stripped of his license. And the best quote of the interview: "I am dumb as fuck. I am sorry."
  19. It's funny that they begin the interview with talking about how Punk wants everybody to hear his story without anyone having to pirate it (or something along the lines) and yet due to the broken download on Cabana's site I could only get the interview by, well, torrenting it.
  20. That cross-body by Naomi was the worst cross-body in PPV history. The only good thing about this match was JBL name-dropping Aja Kong.
  21. So this was the go-home segment for the biggest PPV in WCW history. The Clash segment a couple of month before this was also corny as well but would have been a much better last segment before Starrcade. The whole Sting vs. Hogan program probably peeked too early. And yes: Hogan's acting is so horrible here that I have no idea at first if was glad to got a mannequin head of himself as a gift, or shocked.
  22. I would really like to know why one announcer (the one Alfonso Morales usually calls "Pistolero"; though Google does not yield results for a lucha announcer called "Pistolero") shortly before the finish began reciting the lyrics of La Bamba.
  23. Who was promoting in Austria (the Heumarkt in Vienna etc.) before Wanz? Kaiser as well? Blemenschütz himself?
  24. German football goalkeeper Tim Wiese claims to have an offer for a WWE development contract. He says he will check the offer with his manager.
