    TLC 2015

Did anyone else catch Renee Young on the kickoff show saying "I hope it was diet soda," when they were recapping the Raw angle? I wonder if she was fed that line. Either way, I knew he was losing the title after that.

    WrestleMania 32

This isn't necessarily a "Let's book WM32," but looking at the entire roster on the website, I am hard pressed to come up with any matches that would excite me. Here's what they have to work with: INJURED - OUT OF WM Cesaro Randy Orton Sting Tyson Kidd Seth Rollins Daniel Bryan ATTITUDE ERA GUYS Rock - Think he's booked in Hollywood during this time. HHH Undertaker Chris Jericho TOP GUYS Sheamus Alberto del Rio Rusev King Barrett John Cena Brock Lesnar Roman Reigns Dean Ambrose Kevin Owens SECOND TIER Big Show Dolph Ziggler Jack Swagger Kane Mark Henry The Miz Neville Ryback Stardust Tyler Breeze Goldust R-Truth TAG TEAMS Prime Time Players Los Matadores The Ascension Wyatt Family Dudley Boys The Uso's Lucha Dragons New Day DIVAS Alicia Fox Becky Lynch Brie Bella Cameron Emma Eva Marie Lana Naomi Natalya Nikki Bella Paige Rosa Mendes Sasha Banks Summer Rae Tamina Charlotte TALKERS Paul Heyman Zeb Colter JOKES - Would take a lot to get people to care Adam Rose Alex Riley Bo Dallas Curtis Axel Damien Sandow David Otunga Fandango Heath Slater Zack Ryder What could you possibly do with this?
  10. The WrestleMania VII match with Bulldog is underrated. The TTIT match is fun too.
  11. If you had the resources to run an indy show within the next six months, what would your card be and what city would you run?
  12. How many matches did Shawn Michaels have before that match with DiBiase that was uploaded? He started in October 1984 and the first Mid South match I have for him is a Tag match that month. Would that be the earliest of his matches available or is that match with Art Crews on tape?
  13. So clicking through Yahoo and one of the sponsored links was a list of the "35 greatest wrestlers in the history of the sport" by The Sports Buzz. The list (in alphabetical order) The article listed them in no order. AJ Styles Andre The Giant Arn Anderson Bret Hart Brock Lesnar Bruiser Brody Cactus Jack Chris Jericho CM Punk Curt Hennig Da Crusher Daniel Bryan Dynamite Kid Eddy Guerrero Edge Gorgeous George HHH Hulk Hogan Jack Brisco Jim Londos John Cena Lou Thesz Randy Orton Randy Savage Rey Mysterio Jr. Ric Flair Roddy Piper Samoa Joe Shawn Michaels Stan Hansen Steve Austin Superstar Billy Graham The Rock The Undertaker Verne Gagne
  14. Seems like Orton is too old for a mentor now, but that would have worked 10 years ago. It's more of a role that teaches him the DDT and psychology more than a mentor. Like a month or two of vingettes. 1. it uses a guy on a legends contract instead of them just sitting at home. 2. Randy drops the RKO and maybe only uses it once/twice a year in big matches 3. Randy can prolong his career by doing less-is-more like Jake did. At least that's what I got out of Austin's idea and I would buy it. It would actually refresh Orton to a point of relevancy.
  15. Listening to Austin and Ross' podcasts with Keller and Meltzer respectively, they were banding about some ideas going forward. What would be some of the guys you think you would do? I was thinking Breeze/Dolph as a tag would be great. Especially with Mark Henry or the Big Show as a bodyguard except not call it a body guard. Call it something dickish. I also liked Austin's idea of Jake mentoring Orton.

    Ric Flair

I would love to hear from critics of Flair who have actually watched his pre-94 work, in, I don't know, the last two decades.

  18. In no way was this the worst PPV of the year. Both of Reigns matches were very good. Ambrose/Owens was very good. Charlotte had her best main roster match so far. The elimination tag was a good break of comedy and action after the first to technically good matches. Taker's match was what it was. I mean, I don't think there was a bad match on the show. And as far as Booking, almost everyone came out looking better than when they came in.
  19. Finished the DVD yesterday. Almost all the remaining matches are clipped with about 10 minutes or more of each shown. All have commentary and the quality is good throughout considering they are film converts. 2. Tojo Yamamoto/Jerry Jarrett v. Al Green/Phil Hickerson - Southern Tag Titles - 9/10/74 This was fun with Tojo being the highlight. Him doing the Fargo strut is classic. 3. Tommy Gilbert/Eddie Marlin v. Al Green/Phil Hickerson - Southern Tag Titles - 9/22/74 4. Tojo Yamamoto/Jerry Jarrett v. Jerry Lawler/Don Kent - 9/22/74 5. Tojo Yamamoto v. Johnny Gray - 12/10/74 6. Tommy Gilbert/Eddie Marlin v. Duke Myers/Blue Scorpion - 12/10/74 7. Tojo Yamamoto/Eddie Marlin v. Big Bad John/Johnny Gray - 12/17/74 8. Tojo Yamamoto/Eddie Marlin v. Phil Hickerson/Doug Patton - Southern Tag Titles - 1/7/75 9. Tojo Yamamoto/Jerry Bryant v. Phil Hickerson/Doug Patton - 2/4/75 10. Tommy Gilbert/Ray Candy v. John Rogers/Luke Graham - 2/4/75 All of these are pretty much the same match quality wise -- all have good brawling and crowds are very hot. The last match shows John Rogers breaking his leg after landing weird during a Tommy Gilbert suplex. 11. Tojo Yamamoto/Jimmy Golden v. George Barnes/Bill Dundee - Southern Tag Titles - 5/20/75 12. Bob Armstrong v. Mongolian Stomper - Southern Title - 9/16/75 The first is fun just to see Dundee's team with Barnes. The second is a short, maybe 5 minute clip, but it is all brutal punching and a bloodbath. All in all, if you are a Memphis fan and love brawling - this is a good DVD as a companion with the book. Heck, the scaffold match is worth it by itself as it is a great and perfectly worked towards the finish. The book is great as it is painstakingly detailed as that seems to be Cornette's style.
  20. This. All of This. (Even the, I know I am too old to be doing this, but fuck it I am doing it anyway part!!) Joe's and a Hasbro WWE ring pretty much define my childhood wrestling obsession. I second this. I had about ~30 GI Joes and did the same thing. My ring was a red, Return of the Jedi lunch box. I clearly remember locking the front door during one of my 'cards' and my friend knocking on the door. I yelled "hold on a second" as a rushed to throw everything in the box and push it under the couch.
  21. Typical Vince. They do something tasteless -> there is backllash -> Vince shoves it in our face even more to prove a point. This is tried and true VKM.
  22. I just tweeted a half dozen other examples of them exploiting death/the dead. The excuse that Charlotte, who has been with the company just a couple of years can force VKM or anyone's hand is beyond absurd.
  23. Agreed. I read the first four chapters building up to the results/clippings starting in 1970. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to delve further into the DVD since I am so tired when i get home. I think I'll take it to my dad's on Sunday and watch it with him.
  24. Granted I haven't seen everything, but I've seen a lot and I've never seen one. To say he hasn't been the cause of a bad match is even more reason why he is a solid top tier guy on my ballot.
  25. What about bringing back Amazing Kong? I know 7 years is an eternity in wrestling, but she had that angle with the Bella's on her way out and she could be a good fit for Sasha's bodyguard or Naomi's. I can't imagine TNA has her under any type of long term contract.
