Doc and Gordy could be a strong selling point but Gordy is too far gone by this point. Another Pulp Fiction that felt a little too disjointed to really stick with me.

http://placetobenation.com/where-the-big-boys-play-78-clash-of-the-champions-xix/ Chad and Parv review this mostly forgotten Clash from 1992. [0:01:15] Review of Clash of the Champions 19: No Meltzers this week, but Chad and Parv do their best to answer all the burning questions … Dean Malenko – Dory Funk Jr of the 90s?; Z-Man still under contract?; who is Larry O’Day and why was he flown over from Australia?; why can Dr. Death only think about “queers”?; who was the team from Puerto Rico?; why has Barry Windham still got his hand taped up?; why does Jesse Ventura hate Mexicans?; Beef Wellington: the Robbie Brookside to Benoit’s Regal?; who was facing Hase and Nogami under the hood?; and why does everyone think this is the best Steiners match ever? [1:30:19] End of show awards

I think we discovered that Andre vs. Hansen is to Steven what the Sheik/Abby vs. Funk match is to you. -
I discuss the crossroads I am at as a pro wrestling fan in this article. I am still leery of the article and feel in some ways I come across as too elite and preachy but it does accurately describe the gambit of emotions I have been experiencing the past couple of weeks: http://placetobenation.com/wrestling-with-expectations/

Bryan vs. Daniels from Night of Tribute is a really strong match. They present it as Bryan now being the champ and the guy on top and being able to dominate Daniels. Daniels has to resort back to his cagey vet ways to regain control and take over in the match. The parallel is presented nicely and Bryan has his heel stuff pretty much worked out here and it seems fresh and organic. Daniels cheating to take advantage as a babyface in the match was wonderful. I just thought this was fantastic all around and worked as both a stand alone match and as part of a bigger narrative of ROH as a promotion as a whole.

Pro-Wrestling Super Show: Top 100 Matches (Parts 1 & 2 now up)

Amazing pods. I can;t wait until Parv learns how high Austin vs. Hart from Survivor Series ranked on Steven lists compared to other matches. -
I don't agree at all that he's stale to talk about. In fact, with all the handheld matches and other rare gems that have been cropping up on YouTube, I'd say it's pretty interesting part of his case to examine, especially given the old claim that he dogged it on the small shows. On that note, I have been watching some of said handhelds and rare gems lately, and I can confidently call the claim that he dogged it on small shows bullshit. His style may not have translated well to short Raw matches, but when he got time to work he seems pretty consistent in delivering entertaining and logically built matches often carried by his selling Bret Hart vs Undertaker 11/25/95 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v6kwCtwR3DY Match starts slow with Taker doing his invincible zombie shtick, but that ends up working really well to set up the rest of the match with it feeling like a big deal every time he sells later on. The size difference is worked very well with Bret usually relying on strategy and high risk moves to get the advantage while Taker relies more on raw power. Match builds to a hot stretch run that really gets the crowd going after they spent the earlier portion cheering for Diesel. Bret Hart vs Diesel 1/26/96 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwsi6s992hw Kind of a similar dynamic to the Undertaker match, but a lot more back-and-forth as Bret doesn't have to work around a zombie gimmick. Also, it's much shorter so it's worked as more of an action sprint. It doesn't reach the same heights as the Taker match, but does have a hot crowd throughout and Bret makes Diesel like a total badass throughout with his selling. Bret Hart vs Lex Luger http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x13txz_bret-hart-vs-lex-luger_sport Not sure about date, but it's seems to be shortly after Wrestlemamia IX as Bret is a former champ against a still heel Luger. This actually seems like it's mainly a showcase for Luger as he really brings his working boots to show that he can hang with Bret. His control segment is really good stuff and I really dug his execution of the hold where his grinds his knee against Bret's back in particular. The credit to Bret here is that he knew when to step aside and help another guy get over as he always sells well for Luger's offense and when it's time for a comeback, the way that he sells on offense brings a sense of weariness and desperation. Haven't seen the Bravo match, but if it is bad I don't see it as too much of a strike against him considering it's 1992 Dino Bravo. That Luger vs. Hart match was really damming to Bret when I watched it around a year ago. Bret will most certainly make my list but he does have those matches where you are waiting for something special that could happen and they never do. Here he is really outworked by Luger and in straight autopilot mode. The match vs. Tom Prtichard from a 94 Raw showed him being disinterested in doing anything with someone that was being really capable in another promotion at the same time. He has other stuff that I have watched recently vs. Fatu from an early Raw. That again isn't a match I expect to be great, but it is an opportunity for Bret to show me something and help his case in the depth department.

Negro Casas: Vs. Santo 1987 Vs. El Dandy 7/3/92 Vs. Ultimo Dragon 3/19/93 vs. Santo 9/1997 vs. Blue Panther 3/1/12

This has been an excellent series so far Elliott. I look forward to watching the early stuff of Tamura's career before submitting my final ballot.

1. have one review of an iwa-ms show post each week 2. compete in most days of the wrestling 365 project 3. do some pods (5-10, who knows)

Danielson was pretty amazing by 2002 when he was three years in. Arguably top ten in the world level good.

Watched Ian vs. Peter B. Beautiful last night from KOTDM 2001. One thing I struggle with Ian is when his unprofessionalism gets in the way and how to judge that for the whole process. It is blatant in this match vs. Peter but it also is something I am thinking about when it comes to someone like say Kawada who I do think dogged it pretty badly vs. Hase in the 99 Dome match. Ian really beats the crap out of this guy including giving him some of the worst chair shots I have ever seen that made me cringe. One of those weird things where I still can't justify why something like that bothers me but something else like Benoit ranking doesn't for me. Perhaps it is that I associate this project as being judged solely inside the ring but it does feel hypocritical typing all of this out.

Set up my son's toys at 5:30 AM and had about 45 minutes before the wife and I was going to wake him up. This allowed me the opportunity to watch 6/9/95. This match just never gets old. What I was struck by with this viewing is how theatrical the whole match is. The pacing and way things organically evolve in this match wouldn't look out of place in some of the better thematic tv shows that have come along in later years like Breaking Bad and Fargo. The opening section isn't boring per say but they do work in a way of teasing certain things with a nod to the viewer that bigger things are to come. I was so ingrained with what happens from the Nodowa on Kobashi's leg onward, that I fail to pay attention to the opening section with great intent. However, this viewer reaffirmed that all facets of the match are great not just the thrilling ending sequence. A great way to start off my Christmas.

I am very excited to get to the Hero vs. Ian series from August 2002 and see if anything reaches the level of this match.

Reading the results, I have to shake my head at the booking as almost literally every person that went over on the show, I would have went the other way.

Turned on Raw for the first time in months last night after reading the twitter buzz about the Hardcore match. The last hour from that to the New Day promo, to the main event was really gripping television that has been missing for a while. Roman winning felt really justified and a big deal and was a great moment.

http://placetobenation.com/ptbn-reaction-show-tlc-2015/ Will, Kris Zellner, Johnny P (Barbed Wire City), Pete and Johnny Sorrow run down the big Network Special. When does crazy become stupid? What’s the status of the Divas Revolution? Should ECW finally die? Is Roman Riegns finally turning the corner? All this and more on the Reaction Show.

I've been following this thing since the beginning and all of ONE person has talked about factoring in promos, accomplishments etc. in their rankings so this topic feels like a big over reaction to one person's criteria. I would think the fact that it hasn't come up until now would have made it obvious that it's not really an issue. Disagree about this. People like Johnny have also talked about promos as part of the equation. My list will be compromised of in ring work only.

Excited about this. I see Garvin vs. Flair as a top 3 Flair feud of all time.
-
I really enjoyed the heel discussion that happened early on in the show. 1993 was a pretty awesome year and the angle with Funk coming in and Cornette being the new commissioner has many entertaining aspects, but it does feel like the heels dominating too much and that has been the biggest negative on the year as a whole to me. One of those circumstances in wrestling where in a vacuum, i am really enjoying the segments on my screen, but it does seem detrimental on a meta level to the promotion as a whole.
