Holding professionalism against Michaels seems kind of odd to me in voting for a wife beater. I am plowing through 96 Michaels in yearbook form. KOTR 96 offers a good comparison to the two that year to me. Both Shawn and Austin are in matches with limited and points but capable workers (Mero/Davey). I came away from those matches thinking the DBS/HBK match was better and really enjoyed Michaels performance in that one bumping huge to put Davey over who was insistent on working chinlocks and other uninteresting things on top. Austin for his part also gave a gutty, rugged performance in the Mero match being focused on the back and getting busted open and soldiering through but I also didn't think he took Mero's high impact offense particularly well and he could be blamed for some of the positioning issues. In watching Michaels in 96, he has really delivered on every PPV so far in my eyes with the exception of the Beware of Dog match. This is against a variety of opponents and style of matches. I look forward to watching the Vader, Mankind and Sid matches to see if this perception changes. To me this simply comes down to the fact that 86-91 Michaels is better than 90-96 Austin in my eyes rather easily. Shawn from 92-99 seems to play well in my eyes to Austin from 96-03. That leaves Shawn with an advantage in two portions of his career. Post-Comeback Shawn to me has the most holes to poke in performances but he still has the Jericho feud and Taker matches that I still really enjoyed. Austin by that point has Broken Skull Ranch.

Will and Shoe are getting dangerously close to old married couple territory. I love the arguing between them. Will's disgust over Elgin in G-1 was great as well.

May throw him a bone in my low 90s. Every time he has been in a singles match on the 90s years, he has impressed and worked effectively as a heel or face mixing in wrestling, comedy, and high flying

I was a young fan around this time and never saw Andre as anyone but a former star that would pester officials and needed crutches to walk around.

Exile on Badstreet #7 = Underground Kingz

Another great show full of great stories. Dixie and Insane Dragon were criminally underrated and I am glad that them and all of JAPW got a ton of love on this show. -
[1993-10-01-CMLL] Negro Casas vs La Fiera (Hair vs Hair)
soup23 replied to PeteF3's topic in October 1993
I only watched the first match but was higher than OJ. I didn't think it was super and agree with his thoughts that it has three separate issues being played out instead of one cohesive trios but I dug the bleachers shots and throws that Casas/Fiera did and the beatdown on Vampiro wasn't near as bad as I imagined.- 11 replies

The best vs those three opponents although the kobashi match may be the best match of Hansen I've ever seen. It is probably either that or the Andre match. Date vs misawa is 5-21-93

This crowd was hot all night until Nash came out and did his announcement. Hogan gets the fluke title win and we set up the main event for the next PPV. This really feels like WCW reset part 85.

I gotta say I enjoyed this. Charles Robinson is great doing his little strut before getting Scorpion Death Dropped. Sting is over and Flair is still working like crazy along with Arn to do all of their Sting tropes.

Bischoff is SO BAD here. They set up a Sting vs. Flair match because why not. If this ends Ric as President, I am cool with that as this has gone way off the rails.

This is still the highlight in WCW right now as they never fail to make me smile.

May come off as bitter but once again it feels foolish to have this big WCW restart show in Jacksonville when they were in Atlanta the week before in front of 25,000 fans. Again that was a 15,000 drop from 7 months before but still feels like an appropriate setting. Macho does a pretty bad promo and I really havent enjoyed any of this 1999 run of his which is sad to see. It is honestly as bad as Hogan in 95 to me and anything Flair did including TNA. Goldberg chants start up and we get the return of Hogan. Hogan still feels lost in the shuffle as he has his new age NWO gear still. We get a title match for the end of the show.

Have to say even though this stuff could feel played out, they still have great heat as an off PPV before SummerSlam, an end of an era type match between Austin and Taker isn't a bad idea. This was a fun set up with Vince having a wheelchair again and signing the contract with Austin's blood.

SO Fucking bad. I was actually bored and couldn't sleep the other night and tried to watch the entire 1999 Bash at the Beach PPV. I made 20 minutes in. Anyway, George despite being beat up is loyal to Macho and low blows Nash setting up the Savage elbow and the winning of the title. George was woefully out of position and Nash was unsure if he should sell her first feeble attempt or not. Tony sounds so sad saying this was the blow heard around the wrestling world.

I like this a lot too and think it is campy fun at its best. Barry banging the drums and Curt's gloves are the highlights here.

Gotta say that WCW has the edge here with the LIttle Caesars commercial.

Again, this was like the Eddie stuff but at least Al was presented as a comedic character. Still doesn't excuse some of the comments made.

I enjoyed this promo. He has an intensity and stays focus on going against Corino. Taz is interesting watching the yearbooks as he still feels like small potatoes all around compared to the big two (yes even WCW) but he was solid in a lot of his promo work.

Agree on the men attacking women thing. This was standard stuff and a trope with ECW with them seemingly again being slightly confused on who is supposed to go up against the Impact Players at this point.
