  1. Underrated match. Liger beating the shit out of Rey was pretty great. It's not the old Liger and it takes place in the US so of course it's more deliberate, but it's still pretty damn good. The only drawback to me is that they don't get to work a long and hot run to the finish. Dusty was funny, but he and Heenan especially have no idea how to get this kind of match over.
  2. Excellent match thanks to the great end stretch, but Malenko is a tone deaf worker with absolutely no notion of what the crowd wants. Ultimo was awesome at this time, so much quickness and intensity, and so much great offense to bring to the table. Despite the cliché Iceman gimmick which basically was an excuse for a lack of charisma, Malenko was much better as a fiery babyface as showed here during the run to the finish, since he was a great mechanic and had a lot of cool spots under his belt.
  3. Schiavone and the other announcers not picking on the fact the Amazing French Canadian were actually singing their national anthem in *french* and saying "they don't know the words !" each time around was embarrasing.
  4. Wallstreet already joined the week before. Chono joined earlier in the show. This is the official turn of Bubba & Norton, and yeah, the nWo is officially saturated with JTTS. It certainly didn't kill the nWo, but it killed the aura it had during the first 6 months. The Sting spots were cool though, with untrusting WCW members jumping on him, leading to Sting packing off without even touching an nWo guy.
  5. The announcers looks stupid not recognizing the real Sting. And yeah, as cool as those were, they overstayed their welcome after a while. Well, this time, a nWo guy feels the wrath of Sting. The inverted DDT was a great idea for a finisher, it completed Sting new fresh image.
  6. I never realized this was Arn's last match. Too damn bad about the neck injury, Arn still had a lot in the tank. Wild brawl indeed. Best counter ever to the tree of woe spot. Arn doing the job building heat for Sullivan. I loved this feud. Of course it's a little more complicated to enjoy now. Woman & Chris at the restaurant had Chris saying a few words in French. Creepy in retrospect.
  7. Really good stuff. Great ? I don't see it. Regal's performance was great, yes, but Psych wasn't. Lot of sloppy executed moves on his part. To me the very heated crowd makes the match that much better than it is. I have no idea why this had so much heat either, as Psych really never was over in WCW (his match with Malenko at WWIII got crickets). This made for a super hot opener on TV. Sadly, Bischoff and DiBiase only talk about Piper and Hogan, which would be the usual ultra annoying element of Nitro during the nWo era : not promoting your hot undercard.
  8. Couldn't be worse than Sandman's from 1995, really.
  9. Agreed. Han was awesome, but he wasn't the only one.
  10. On Saturday Night, 12/14/96, DDP uses a peculiar version of the Diamond Cutter which most likely inspired the 3-D. Then after the bell, he goes right in the front of the camera and says "I'm hardcore ! Thanks Bubba Ray !" Damn. I guess DDP was "flattered" that Bubba Ray stole his move in ECW.
  11. Personnality/character is what sells. Not size. Now, the business model of the WWE has always sold size has an important matter. That's why they never understood how to promote guys like Rey on top. That's why they pushed a number of big guys who failed miserably too.
  12. I have no idea on which podcast he said that stuff, but damn, I love Steve Austin :
  13. Damn, the last spot should be brought back :
  14. A little bit of Piper overexposure already ? Yeah, the nWo not daring to jump on Piper was exactly what the angle needed. Bischoff takes his first beating as a heel, and the slap from behind looked quite stiff. Good angle.
  15. HoF. Legends deal. Done.
  16. Decent stuff. Second promo from Roddy on the same show and this one was the better one. Still totally agree about what we said about Flair during this comeback, after a last super fun run as a heel in 96.
  17. Some homophobic dig at the nWo too. Well… Anyway, Piper ranting alone could quickly get grating, but here he was still pretty efficient. Cool reference to his Carolina history indeed.
  18. ECW Timeline I would prefer for the remaining years, considering who's available : 1993 - Todd Gordon 1996 - Raven 1998 - Tommy Dreamer 1999 - Steve Corino
  19. "Was better than Abyss" is either a truism or a backhanded compliment. In the case of Kane, it's both.
  20. The Piper Timeline is quite good infact. Piper is Piper, so you know what you're going to get, but he also tells a lot of stories. The Patterson deal is pretty much nothing, and putting it in the trailer was kinda dishonest because it looks like there's much more to it than there seems to be. He did call Micheal Hayes a snake though. Wouldn't even say his name. Overall a really good Timeline edition after a bunch of pretty bad ones (Windham, Vader, Beefcake). The next one is ECW 2000-01 with Justin. I'd much rather had Corino, as he's a hilarious storyteller, but Credible could be quite ok I guess.
  21. Abyss is an agent ? Wow. It's nice that you can be one of the worst (and stupidest) worker ever and still be an agent. Only in TNA I guess.
  22. Why ? To me it's like Stevie Ray getting this fat-ass contract in WCW. Complete waste of time and money. But hey, I hear Glenn Jacobs is a nice guy, so good foor him. Heard Abyss was actually a nice guy too. Not that there's a link between the two. Or maybe there is.

She's Rusev best asset. In a matter of 6 months, he'll probably be the next Broadus Clay. Hey, I like Rusev. Like it's been said, the entire act is a total throwback. Add the ridiculously hot "russian" girl right out of Rocky IV (WWE, always culturally relevant), and it's all good for me.
