  1. Well said.
  2. "Les morts sont tous de braves types". G. Brassens (Dead people are all good guys) Agreed. It's infinitely sad what happened to Warrior, and especially his wife and little daughers. But let's not also forget "Queering doesn't make the world work" and such. Let's just be fair.
  3. Context is everything, really. A few years ago, Warrior would barely have been mentionned.
  4. Come on people. Have a little faith. Jeff Jarrett is the genius behind the masterpiece that was TNA, a promotion which outlasted both ECW and WCW ad which is stil going strong today. Well, never mind.
  5. I immediately thought Savage was gonna kill Hogan. Not really "kill" him of course, and Bischoff does overreact. Schiavone would end up being better than Bischoff as the main Nitro announcer (for a while at least). I would guess they already planned the Bischoff turn at this point, which would make sense with him showing all these videos to fuck up Savage's mind. The whole Liz storyline was very ambiguous too, there's no way to really know what's happening in this nWo vignette. Really good stuff, and Liz is very solid again.
  6. The trenchcoat, the white make-up. Not the crow yet, but not far off. I really enjoy the ambiguous nature of the promo here.
  7. Ditto. Warrior was the first World champion I had seen, and for the 13 years old me, he was awesome because of the music, the look (tassles !!!), the rope shaking and such. I was never a Hogan fan, but I was a Warrior fan during those years.
  8. I know it's neither here nor there, but after Warrior dropping dead, the odds of old, tired, in pain and concussed Taker working one last match seems even more like a bad idea now.
  9. No idea about that, but 30 is now even more memorable, for tragic reasons.

Great match I don't now, but very good at worst, and tons of fun. Yeah, it's me watching (and praising no less) WWE C-shows matches in 2014 after saying HHH was a big part of why WM was enjoyable to me. Hell is freezing over.
  11. Seriously one of the all-time greatest promos I've ever seen. Freaking amazing.
  12. Holy shit. This is the spookiest wrestling death since you-know-who. Seriously, the timing is amazingly creepy. I will say he did look bloated at the Hall of Fame speach, but still, never though in a million years such a sad thing would happen. The truly tragic part is when you think about his wife and his two adorable daughters at the ceremony. Don't want to speculate, so I'll just say it must be the most awful feeling in the world for them right now. My heart goes out to them. Although my opinion on the Warrior really change as I grew up a wrestling fan, and I didn't share his political views at all, I loved the Warrior when I was a teenager, one of my all-time favourite character then. Those are the memories I'll keep from this guy. Just fucking weird and shocking. (and the other creepy thing is that I actually thought about the idea of Meltzer having to talk about some tragedy this week-end… it was like in the back of my mind just before I watched Mania, then I brushed it off… just odd)
  13. Well, watching it back in context, yeah, it was rather well explained. Add the fact Hogan played with Savage's head saying Liz was actually acting (which would imply she was still fucking with Savage just like she did when she was with Flair) and you get quite the intricate angle. Liz was really good again, going for a slap on Hogan as soon as he says she's acting. The Nasties beatdown appeared like such a sleazeball move since they were genuine Hogan friend, it made it clear the nWo guys were real thugs with no honor. Hall outing the Heat as being from Texas was funny. Nitro had a terrific run of angles every week at this point.
  14. He looked orange this year. Just bizarre.
  15. This came after a very good Jarrett vs Bubba match in which Jarrett didn't work like a heel for a change since it was taking place in Memphis. Jarrett was totally doing the Double J gimmick, complete with country music theme and fake laughs.
  16. Excellent promo from Liz, she was perfect here. Savage being a loss for words and looking vulnerable and distraught was pretty great, as Savage never acts this way. This build to Savage vs Hogan was terrific.
  17. It took me forever to recognize Orndorff with that stache. I was like "Damn, this guy looks familair but…".

Funny, I totally thought about Val Venis too. Which is not a good thing. But anyway. Heyman's promo with lesnar was one for the ages. And he was terrific later on too. So much good stuff on RAW, despite the inherent stuff I don't like about the modern stuff. Will WWE keep my post-WM interest for longer that it did the last two years ? Well, with the influx of new faces on top and fresh talent and characters, maybe they will. The angle to close the show was great (well, I could have done with about anyone in the place of Kane though). I can safely say I haven't been that interested in following the product since, well, since I gave up 15 years ago.
  19. I call it a failure because it was anti-climatic as hell. Of course people were shocked. But it was just a surprise result without much build to it. Every other year, although it was a given Taker wasn't losing, they always managed to get at least one pinfall attempt which got a huge reaction like people actually believed Taker would lose. I didn't get that felling here. People weren't buying the match, and that's why they were so shocked when it happened. I think had it happened in an efficient match, with an efficient build, the reaction to Taker losing would have been much more powerful. Seriously, the felling I got here was more "WTF happened ?" rather than "Holy shit !!". So yeah, it's historical, and the post-match was kinda funny. But that's it. Lesnar didn't get much reaction for pinning Taker.
  20. Damn. That kind of stuff really kills the myth. Social medias be damned.
  21. Well, no one believed he could lose and the match was a failure for that reason (among others). It will be memorable because of the result, but him losing that way after that match and that finish was just a big time fail. Of course people were shocked. But it fell flat and seemed anticlimatic. Anyway, no, after such a shock, there was no way in hell Bryan was not winning. Lightning just doesn't strike twice that way.
  22. I believe his contract did run off at the end of the year in 96 as he came in for 2 years initially. I dunno, Savage joigning the nWo kinda make sense in a "If you can't beat them, joign them" and also in the sense he was often portrayed as Hogan's bitch anyway. But after all those brutal beatings, yeah, it was still a tough sell (much like Liz change of heart once she was really in the nWo for good). Anyway, another terrific, super heated angle. The execution was great, with the exeption of the Giant dropping Savage on the steel stairs then neck first on the top rope. Hogan ruled here, being a complete dirtbag and badmouthing Liz, who herself was very good in her role, and she sold the drama of the situation really well which probably helped get even more heat. nWo really look like a pack of wolves here, pun intended. Looking back at this period, DiBiase was absolutely fine as the boss of the faction. The cliffhanger at the end was quite terrific, the monster truck with sleazeball Syxx in it looked menacing as hell.
  23. Yea, the other guy helped at times, and Pritchard, although clearly still a Vince guy, is really interesting to hear. Very few people got as close to Vince for as long as he did.
  24. Totally disagree. Once Taker lost, there was no way in hell Bryan wasn't winning. No way there were sending people home after watching both Taker and Bryan lose.
