  1. I think there's also a Toronto (from Maples Leaf Garden) match between those two, which looks exactly the same.
  2. The Luger vs Hansen feud was excellent. Stan was on fire and Luger was still quite the hard worker at this point, not afraid of taking a beating.
  3. It's pretty surreal to see Konnan, Chris Adams and Norman Smiley so early in WCW in retrospect.
  4. Shitty angle, shitty production. Ole is a genius.
  5. I know the Rip Rogers matches had been pimped before, but they really didn't do anything for me at all. Totally overrated stuff. Give me Barry Horowitz anyday. The only thing I ever really enjoyed from Rip was his angle with Tim Horner in SMW with the hindu squats angle.
  6. It's really too bad he left so soon after he got the gimmick. This had so much potential of awesomeness as a mid-card TV title champ gimmick. The debut of Terri too, which really didn't dress like she should have. Horrible early 90's fashion sense.
  7. That made me want to see the match. Terry Taylor, although much better as a heel, was always something I'm interested in watching. And Rotundo back as a heel after the ridiculous Captain Mike months was nice, and I thought the whole Mr. Wallstreet gimmick was pretty cool.
  8. Pretty hilarious bad angle here, with the posessed woman attacking Sting ! Ole booking was the shits.
  9. He's actually the French announcer for TNA. Has been for years now I believe. I haven't followed wrestling on French TV since 1997, but I have checked out on occasion to see how good the announcers were, and I must say I was quite impressed actually (the WWE announcers are also pretty good, much better than the american ones, maybe because they are old-school fans as showed by them using a few indiosyncrasies Eddie Carpentier used to say, and don't have Vince yelling in their hears either). Celian Varini is that guy : Celian Varini interviews Mickie James
  10. Yep, I agree Snow's work, and especially his promo work, makes me see the rest of his career in an even more grim light. I was never a huge fan of Head, but watching this really shows what a waste of talent Al Snow has been.
  11. To set up Armstrong and prove he was sincere, Cornette has garanteed he would refund everyone if Bob & Terry wouldn't win, and gave out a 50.000 $ check to Sandy Scott in advance in the case he would have to pay. Pretty clever.
  12. The turn is well done, although obvious by this point. The announcer Chip Kessler repeating "What kind of a present is a fireball ?" again and again was quite amusing. Otherwise, he sucks. Hey, Buchanan ! I agree Cornette is looking too strong offensively, he should only get a few shots in. Cornette vs Bullet Bob *again*. It's obvious Cornette's booking was exhausted at this point, and the bad houses reflect it.
  13. Vanilla Ice rejects indeed.
  14. What showed of the match is pretty great. So much great shit from PJ-13, they were so underrated, and it's too bad they never got a better stint in either of the "big three" in the late 90's.
  15. Chip Kessler is not only a creepy looking no blinking guy, he's also an annoying announcer. Yeah, it seems like a very good match, Morton just refuse to decline it seems. It's also funny to see how they didn't even try to pretend that this was about the Rock'n Roll Express anymore, it's alla bout Ricky Morton who just happen to have an ugly and mute partner. That finish makes me think Cornette booked that Diesel vs Bret Hart match in early 1996. Al Snow seemed to have peaked in SMW indeed.
  16. The Thugs cut a intense promo, but I'm so not getting into the Gangstas at this point.
  17. I didn't think he came off as boring and dry during that interview. To me he came off more like a guy with his feet on the ground, treating pro-wrestling for what it is, a way to make a living, and that's probably why he's one of those guys who didn't get into trouble, dind't do fucked up shit and does live a normal life afterward. This may not be the most exciting thing you'll heard, but it left me on a good and positive impression on the guy. He did state that I.R.S was his favourite gimmick. It sure ain't Tammy Sytch saying she loves anal and such...
  18. Two really good promos doing a good job hyping teh dangerosity of ths scaffold match. I usually don't care for this kind of gimmick as he rarely delivers anything watchable, but these interviews made as good of a job possible to make me want to see the match. Dropping the watermelon gave a pretty gritty visual.
  19. Ah ah ! Well done. I didn't see it coming.

    Paul Orndorff

Nope. I've been quite impressed with Orndorff in the 90's. Not impressed in a "he had great matches way", but impressed in how hard he worked most of the time, both in SMW and WCW. He was clearly the best worker in SMW during his tenure, and maintain that level of work in WCW for the 2/3rd of 1993 like Matt said. Then his work softened a little bit, but he still found ways to maintain a plateau level, adding some cool goofy maneurisms to his elbow drop for instance. It took some time for Pretty Wondeful to work as a unit, and it never went past the point of being a pretty good team, although toward the end Roma was more fun to watch thatn he's ever been. The problem is that they never quite got a chemistry with Stars & Stripes, and they worked against them a lot. By 1995 Orndorff was still mostly working hard and was showing no sign of "old guy wrestling" at all. Fine undercard veteran wrestler, fun interview. The guy's stock has gone way with me.
  21. Although I've only seen it on edited form, the Rock'n Roll Express vs Al Snow and Unabomb match from April 1995 in SMW just may be the best Glen Jacobs match ever.
  22. Muraco is the greateast laziest wrestler ever. Or the laziest greatest wrestler ever. Which makes him the most frustrating wrestler ever, because you know he could. But he rarely would.
  23. You know who that applies to in me case, right ? Ok, I'll stop.
