  1. Holy shit ! Thanks for the laugh ! (yes, that would make François Hollande the Sting of French politics : he's already a bit of a flop on top although it's not his fault and probably won't be in the HOF when all is done, but he's dear to my heart )
  2. Hey, that's the Stalker....
  3. The whole Dustin Rhodes vs Bunkhouse Buck feud is a complete snoozer for me. Yes, there has been that very fun bloody brawl at the PPV, yes, there has been the fun tag match thanks to Arn & Funk, yes, there has been an awesome promo from Dusty, but as soon as Jimmy Golden enters the ring, they just lose me. Easily one of the most boring worker I've came across. Nothing really good, nothing really bad, nothing engaging at all. Yawn.
  4. I still don't see anything particulary good about this feud. I have seen countless Dustin vs Buck matches at this point, from Saturday Nights, Worlwide, Main Event, PPV's, and apart from the first über bloody gimmick match, nothing was really good. Not really bad either, just there. Jimmy Golden just is a very boring and mediocre worker. Nope, this doesn't do anything for me. Buck sell his leg for, well, he doesn't sell it for a second after he goes back on offense, and I find his kick/punch offense really mundane and unengaging, as is his whole character. Why wasn't Terry Funk working more at this point ? I could live without watching another Jimmy Golden match, bored me everywhere I've seen him, and it's pretty telling that the only match that looked special was all gimmick and blood, and a fantastic performance from Dustin.
  5. A pretty good case of the whole being lesser than the sum of its part. The match really doesn't have much of a structure, and does meander a lot. Sting is annoying to me working with Flair, as he does way too much superman no-selling, especially aggravating on stuff like the delayed vertical suplex. Sting peaked with Vader, and already isn't as good as he was then. Austin is a bump machine at this point, and Steamboat doesn't seem to be that over anymore, although looks like he could go another ten years of working. The Sherri bump at the end is insane.
  6. Quite the great promo from Dusty. The last comeback of his I would care about.
  7. One thing I like about the C-shows like Wolrdwide, is that the announcers were so much laid-back. You can hear Schiavone had much more fun working with Jesse than he did with Heenan too. I didn't realize before that Jesse worked during the beginning of the Hogan era, I thought he was gone by then. I'll sure miss him when he will be.
  8. Well, I think there's a big difference between dressing sexy and making out with your lover and... well, TAFKAG. Weren't PMS supposed to be heels though ? This is so confusing.
  9. Brian Lee really looks like Marc Callaway at this point with the paleness and the black hair and beard. Candido is hilarious "He's my old friend, a complete moron, an idiot". Which would verify itself in the long haul since Balls Mahoney indeed is a complete moron who destroyed his brain cells (the few he had) and body in retarded matches and looks like a giant rat with no teeth these days. But anyway, I'm guessing Boo Bradley will end up being his career high, since I despise the chair swinging freak.
  10. Pure gold. Offensive, race-card heat seaking, but pure gold nonetheless. Mustafa spitting watermelon was the icing on the cake. I wonder if they got death threats from the hillbillies.
  11. New Jack is on fire on the mic. SMW was a ridiculously great promo territory, really.
  12. Aww, you mean no more Thrillseekers ? Well, they sure didn't set the territory on fire. Lance is shit on the mic, and not much better in the ring (great athlete, but he couldn't do much more than jumping around at this point, he looked awkward doing simple basic stuff. I guess working in Japan helped him quite abit, he was better than this when he came back in ECW, although not that good either)
  13. You don't say...
  14. WWE never advertised that Sable was a mother. I'm pretty sure they never said she was married to Mero. So I think that is the big difference. I think they did at some point, but maybe I'm mistaken. But this doesn't change anything anyway, it's a completely nonsensical point to begin with. She's a mother. Well, ok. And ? WWF morals were so screwed up.
  15. Allow me to disagree *again* with everyone here. I thought this was a very fun match, and I'm glad they had another one involving Sherri. I take back what I said previously, Sherri is awesome no matter who she's paired with. Their days of having classics are behind them anyway, so why not tweek it by adding another element and just have a fun little match on TV ? As far as Steamboat getting visual falls on him, why would not not ? He headlined a PPV just a few montsh ago with Flair and had another main event match on Saturday night not too long ago. Flair getting visually pinned doesn't matter at this point. Hogan already beat him clean anyway. Flair vs Hogan drew because it was Flair vs Hogan, not because Flair was this strong unbeatable guy. Anyway, really enjoyed this stuff
  16. Flair is more cool and collected here than he was before the title match. Sherri has got one of her old robe she wore with Savage, and it fits like a glove visually. But I see what you mean by Sherri not really getting along Flair as a character though.
  17. Austin is already a very good promo. Great slap from Steamboat.
  18. July 1994. A historical date on WCW TV. No, not Hulk Hogan winning the belt. No. Bigger than this. The debut of what would become the most over finisher of the 90's this side of teh Stone Cold Stunner : the Diamond Cutter. Of course it didn't get a big reaction, it wasn't even named yet. Still, quite fun to see. On a side note, the more I watch DDP, the more I appreciate him. Doesn't matter if he was a personnal friend of Bischoff, this guy obviously put a ton of efforts, thoughts and work into everything he did, the way he wrestled, his character, his ring attires, and although it wasn't always very good (the infamous Scum or 2 times promos), at least you could always feel this guy cared a lot. Probably one of the biggest overachiever I can think of. He was already 38 at that point, that's pretty impressive that he had so much drive to improve. Deserved everything he got in my book.
  19. The Night of Legend TV show was good thanks to a cool little legend match between Slater/Orton and Stomper/Garvin, an insane promo from New Jack and the memorable Jericho bloodbath. Hearing the Edgar Winter Band again warmed my HB fan heart. The angle on Fire on the Mountain with neither Ricky Morton nor Sunny losing their hair came off as cheap though. Way to kill a stip, I don't care if Candido got his hair shaved. That was not the deal promised, and it feels like a cheap cop out like when The Bullet had another mask underneath when he should have unmasked.
  20. I only had seen this as a handheld before, it's obviously much better on TV. MAn. Jericho tried a dumbass flashy move in training prior to the match (shooting star press I believe), and he fucked up his arm. You can picture the reaction of Cornette. Being right handed, cutting his forehead with his left hand (not to mention it was probably his first bladejob ever) result is the biggest bladejob fuck-up this side of Wally Yamaguchi slicing Akira Hokuto's forehead. Seriously, this is 10 and a half on the Muta scale. He painted the ring, his opponents and the referee's shirt bright red. Strong work from the bodies, mediocre work from Lance (surprise surprise) and a shitty finish which I really don't care for. I never liked that kind of finish anyway, and here it was really badly done, but I guess Jericho legit had trouble standing up after losing so much blood. Still a very good match, of course, and quite memorable. Agree it made Jericho look like someone special.
  21. Hey, haven't seen JR since he was fired from WCW. Nice addition to the company. New Jack's promo is awesome again. The lines about the NAACP are jaw dropping. Holy shit.
  22. I enjoy SMW Gangstas a thousand more times than ECW Gangstas. I think the issue is that Heyman got the Gangstas to replace Public Enemy (ironically enough), and had them work like the Public Enemy. Took them down a lot. New Jack was always a terrific promo, but he was much better in *this* hell of a setting.
  23. Starck contrast between Terry and Dory Jr., as always.
  24. Yep, I loved Brother Love too. So slimmy.
  25. After leaving WCW to go on rehab, Jake Roberts no-shows SMW and fucks up a great (in promo) feud. Sad. Terry Gordy cuts a brain-dead promo like it's IWA Japan. Sad too. No, really it wasn't that bad, but it was not the old Gordy anymore at this point, and he was never much of a promo anyway. Did DWB talk about Chris Walker ? I remember this guy showing up in the WWF in 1991 or so, looked like a Warrior clone.
