    Last time I checked, it was just a *good match*. Which was blah for the big Flair vs Arn match. When I get to 1995, I'll see if I reevaluate. I doubt it, Fall Brawl 95 is a PPV I watched a few times. Now, let John tell us how he feels about it.

    Last time I watch this I found it was a pretty awful match. Buck & Slater could have good matches, but not against a shitty team like Harlem Heat.

    Paul was 46 at the time, so it's not like he had much more years to give. Plus the injuries would force him to retire. I don't know where the "poor career" comes from, he got a good stint in WCW after his last comeback I thought, when he was already 43. Pretty Wonderful was an underrated tag team (can't wait to revisit them). His new music theme was glorious though.

    I guess so too. mid 95 to mid 96 was probably when the Clique was at its worst. Derailing guys like Bam Bam, Candido, Douglas (oh, see the link for what's to come in 98 ?), Shawn not doing job for the IC title while groomed for the WWF title... I didn't think the Bulldog clicked that well as heel back then, and certainly not as a top spot heel.

    So, does anyone still thinks Mero was no good after watching this ? I mean, really... Superb match, great performance by Pillman, and Mero more than held his own.

    Agreed. Think what you want about Scott Levy, but he's an old-school guy who just *loves* wrestling and the absurdity and the fun of it. I find his enthousiasm communicative.

    WCW just kicked Vince's ass badly all of a sudden. It made RAW look like totally second rate. Amazing that it took a good year and a half before WWF ackwnoledged this and changed the set up for RAW. Sad thing when you think RAW basically looks the same as it did in 2001 now, which is all an evolution of the RAW IS WAR set of 1997. But anyway, in 1995, Nitro made things move.

    The Swan Song of the great Akira Hokuto. Some (most) would argue she had a great match against Satumora in 2001, I strongly disagree. This to me is the last great Hokuto match. Toyota was on a roll at this point, having the best Hotta match ever the next day.

    At one point, Mr. Gannosuke was easily a top 10 worker in the world to me. Just a great worker. FMW remains one of my favourite promotion ever. From the fascinating Onita years, to the goofball Fuyuki stuff which still delieverd lots of good matches (because they had a good crop of workers), and the peak in between when they had to redefine their product after Onita left, FMW was all over the map of wrestling style, always with a little garbage flavor to it, but not as much as some would think. Hayabusa at his peak was an amazing worker. Ohya & Kanemura were excellent. Kudo was a top 10 worker at her peak. Masato Tanaka, although damaged by his ECW stint for a while, was a superb worker. Shoichi Arai was at one time the best ring announcer. Just a unique promotion with a terribly sad ending.

    Really ? Holy shit, Luger was so right to jump back to his home promotion. As soon as he was back on Nitro, he was a main-event star, and he stayed over like crazy until the end.

    I always had a soft spot for Matador vs Michaels from WM 8. Good match, my very first WM, I was a fan of both, I was really excited about Michaels turning heel, I loved Sherri. I also remember a good Matador vs Luger match from 1993, before WM 9, but I haven't seen it since, so my memories might be tainted at this point.

    I thought the match was a step up from the three previous PPV involving Sid. The Sid feud was so godawful... This match was as good as it could humanly be for involving Mabel and Kevin Nash. Last appearance ever of Luger in the WWF, who would have guessed ? It was brillant because as Luger just makes a comeback in the main event scene after months of purgatory, he shows up on Nitro to challenge Hogan the next day. Good days...

    Agreed it's better than the WMX match. Smarter work here, played off the previous one very nicely.

    ZZZZzzzzzzzzz....... I'm sorry to not enjoy this as much as I want too. EIther it's my taste which have evolved far from this sort of stuff, either it's not really that good of a match and feels like an exhibition. Dean is way overrated anyway. Great mechanic, but works in a vacuum. I don't know what to think about this anymore. Maybe I should give it a last chance.

    In other words, you don't like him very much. I always enjoyed Raven, especially in WCW, and when I went through my ECW watch, the first few times he appeared, it didn't click immediately with me, but after a few weeks, he was quickly one of my favourites. (A) I enjoyed most of his matches which have, to me, aged really well actually, and I dig his "dog and pony show" which delivers some actual great near-finishes and fun stuff. I rather watch most of Raven's matches than the Dean Malenko wankery known as ***** classics. ( I think his promos really are excellent as far as building a unique character © Him being surrounded by other people was the entire point of the gimmick and the character, and him being a depressed, passive agressive cunt surrounding himself with more talented people to do the deeds works like a charm. If you listen to his interviews, he totally put over guys like Foley as being awesome. (D) Again, Raven always puts over Richard as being ridiculously talented and I would beg to differ, Richards was a rookie and wasn't ready to be a top dog for the promotion, but the entire stint alongside Raven put him over strong and made him a good prospect. Richards really beneficiated from being with Raven (and it worked both ways, as Raven beneficiated to be with Stevie). Would Stevie ever have become anyone if not for Raven, really ? Hard to tell. And what did he do that was really memorable after his initial ECW stint ? Not his fault, but still, anyone wants to argue RTC was really fun ? (E) He got his ass kicked like crazy all the time. The fact that he never got pinned by Dreamer was a really good booking idea. Raven was all about getting his ass kicked, in ECW like in WCW. (G) He deserves his reputation. (F) You're simply a hater.

    Yep. Really terrific stuff. All of a sudden, the WWF was chaotic and unpredictable, people got involved with each other feuds. I don't know how much Watts could be credited for this, but it was a rare intense moment in 1995 that made you actually care about what happened.

    How many people bought their fisrt puro tape to see this match ? I admit the IWA Death Match tournament was part of the first puro order I made in 1998. Along with a big joshi interpromotionnal show from 93, a Best of Onita and the two Super J Cup. I kinda miss those times. Yeah, not exactly a good match, but legendary nonetheless.

    Kerry came in at the time Beefcake got injured, and was basically put in his spot, so maybe Beefcake was the one who would have got a run with the IC belt. He was quite hot in 1990. I enjoy your Tito Series BTW. Tito better than Bret ? Not in my book, not close. The best Bret stuff is better than the best Tito stuff. But Tito is still pretty underrated by people not familiar with his 80's work I think. Tito better than Hennig ? I would think so. Tito better than Michaels ? At points, yes he was. When Shawn was in his prime, probably not, but it's not as far fetched as some would think (well, considering I find Michaels to be very overrated, as in *very good*, but not *great*)
