  1. Mario Tirantes Yamasaki.
  2. On the previous Clash, Iron Eagle no-sold the famous left hook from Michael Hayes, blame lack of timing and being clueless. Hayes had a great shocked expression on his face, he was irate as hell. He threw Eagle outside and stiffed the hell out of him. Pretty funny.
  3. Yes, fun match, although when Iron Eagle gets in for the final stretch, it turns into a squash match, with a guy who isn't very good. No idea why they brought this guy back in 1996, he never showed any potential to me.
  4. I' not surprised you don't like Horner, as the more I see of him, the more the way he moves reminds me of Dan Kroffat at times. And I know how much you like Kroffat. Yeah, I saw the Steiner vs Eaton gauntlet match. Good stuff, the best solo Scott Steiner stuff so far (thanks to Eaton). I didn't participate in that SC poll, I was burned out at the times and didn't had access to all those WCW stuff, but I'm pretty sure I would have voted for some unexpected stuff. I'm really enjoying the undercard Z-Man/Terry Taylor/Bobby Eaton feud around the TV title. Taylor is so much better as a heel than he is as a face. Turning Eaton tweener/face isn't the best idea though, and putting fake "Bobby !" chants in the background doesn't work. It allows Zenk to have the best matches of his career thus far. Another thing that is so WCW, is the timeline of Taylor's turn totally screwed up by the stupid tapings. Taylor turned heel at the previous Clash, joigning Alexandra York (with the ring announcer fucking up too and basically spoiling it during the introductions... WCW...), but he's still a tweener during those taping, slowly turning heel, and not having York at his side. Big Josh debuts. Retarded. I hate gimmicks about guys not supposed to be wrestlers, especially when you give it to workhorse like Matt Borne. Borne was jacked up at this time. Dustin debuts. It's amazing how much he works like Windham. And already looks fatter than Windham, despite being what, 20 years old ? Hey, Dusty and Missy Hyatt in a pool playing ball.
  5. We'll find out, but I think they will be. Won't they overlap the 80's project though ?
  6. I'm not saying he was a certain top 5 in the world, as I would put several japanese workers above him in that context, and I'm not familiar with Mexico, but he's at least Top 2 as far as the US goes.
  7. Well, in 1990 Eaton was the best wrestler in WCW. I really don't see who was better than him in WWF at the same time, so that makes him the best wrestler in the US for that year to me. I'm gonna have a blast watching them evolve in WCW. Of course Eaton faded quicker than Arn, but I think it was also due to a lack of push at some point. Eaton was also already really excellent in the early 80's, even before the MX days, so I think he gets the longevity nod no matter what. But yeah, close call on the long run, although I think I would give it to Eaton as far as better matches goes. Arn was of course an amazing promo. Condrey was much better than Ole, who never did much for me, but to be honest I have seen few Ole matches from his prime. But Condrey was a really good worker. That makes me thing about this : Bobby Eaton or Robert Gibson Tom Pritchard or Tommy Rogers Terry Taylor or Brad Armstrong
  8. I've got one for you : Arn Anderson or Bobby Eaton ?
  9. Haven't seen a much of Hase in All Japan but I actually really loved his singles vs Kobashi & Kawada. Some of my fav matches i've seen any of those 3 involved in. He was still good of course, very good at times even, but I don't think he meshed as well as he could have in his prime. I remember a very disapointing match with Jun Akiyama in 98. True. I was talking about the mid 90's when she came back and was lost in the shuffle while Takako was world tag champ and Hasegawa was the next big thing.
  10. Well, you're right then. Never saw the actual Roma introduction.
  11. Ditto. This is when the "What ?" chant would have been needed.
  12. Yep. And I'm nostalgic. Being 19 again. Then again, it wasn't that fun either. I'm also better looking now. Whatever, Beulah video always rules.
  13. Hell, that totally got out of my mind. I was thinking she debuted with Hasegawa. That makes Kyoko a freak. 4 years in, she was the third best worker in the company behind Bull & Hokuto. Yes. I'm not sure I'd say that. Toyota/Yamada inprints on the promotion surely influenced its style for the years to come, but Bull and Hokuto were big on selling. Ditto Aja and Bison. My beef with Toyota & Yamada go-go-go style is that even when they did hit the great matches, they were never the best at their own style. Kyoko was better at it. When Oz & Kansai showed up from a company which worked a slower style, they were better too.
  14. Jericho was really all about doing cool spots back then, complete with the "Yeah baby!" babyface shout. Cool to see how far he went.
  15. I know all dead people are good guys, but I still remember the story of Damian's dream being working with Liger, and little punk ass Naniwa didn't want to do the job to a comedy guy from FMW. Therefore Damian didn't get to work with Liger. I don't know if that's true, but that's what I always heard about this match. Anyway, Damian is doing impersonations, which is always fun.
  16. Oh, fuck, this was glorious. It's even worst in hindsight. Dickhead non-jobbing bitch gets an emotionnal video.
  17. Hey, remember when Tiger Mask IV was a hot junior in MPro as opposed to a blasé boring veteran in NJ ? Remember when TAKA Michinoku was slowly becoming one of the best wrestler in the world ? Remember when Japanese indies were fun ?
  18. You mean worst that Paul Roma showing up ?
  19. Funny stuff. The Dudz were all about promos and fun skits.
  20. And people wonder why ECW seemed so fresh an appealing at the time ?
  21. I enjoyed it. It's morbid ECW at its worst, but you can't deny it has a true bloodthirsty aura to it, and Axl was a good worker and good seller. Ok, it's guilty vampire pleasure, and it works only in this particular setting, but when I went through my ECW watch, I enjoyed this more than Eddie vs Dean. Go figure.
  22. Candido and Tammy could make any stupid stuff fun, as showed here. I liked the gimmick too.
  23. Just awful and embarrassing.
  24. Am I the only one who thought Savio was a really good worker back then ?
