I agree this is Shawn best's traditionnal match. And it's not like he carried Jarrett...

Zangiev worked a single against Takada, and a tag (with Hashimikov) against Yamazaki (with Anjo). Zangiev vs. Fujiwara or Tamura could have potentially ruled it hard! Glad to know that ! Sometime someday, I'll get back into UWF-I.

Fucking awful match from memory. This Sid vs Diesel feud was the nadir of the year. Even Mabel vs Diesel was better.

Zangiev is the best shootstyle worker ever we'll never see. He showed so much potential in the few matches he worked in NJ. He was an awesome mat wrestler, he had a strong personnality. I can only shiver at the thought of big matches between Zangiev and Takada, Fujiwara, Yamazaki, Sano, Volk Han, Tamura...

Yatsu during his peak was about a hundred times better than Angle. Then Yatsu could be really bad. So can Angle. Yatsu in a walk. Stevie Ray was useless his entire career. Dino Bravo was a good worker in his prime. I think he gets a bad rep for his WWF stint, and still, he had a very good match with Bret Hart as late as 1992, and that wasn't Hart working around a broomstick either. That's a tricky one. I do think Valentine gets the edge for having those great matches with Backlund.

As far as hit & miss, Don Muraco comes to mind. When he's on and wants to work, he's a superb worker. When he's lazy, good luck...

In a way I can't wait until I get into 1995 to see this Flair vs Savage program. I'm not familiar with it, only really saw the Nitro era days, which I really loved.

Short guys with short hairs wearing kickpads. Is this Roh ?

Do you really think it was ? I mean, Kid beat Razor Ramon who was already a powerful mid-carder who had world title match with Bret Hart. Skip was a comedy gimmick who beat no one yet. I don't see it has the exact same situation. Anyway, it was good to see Horowitz get some TV time, as he was a really good worker (although I liked him better as a heel), but all in the detriment of Candido, who was doomed from day one.

Yes, he was singing. Hell, he used to sing it live as he came down the entrance when he was doing the Real Double J gimmick. The magic of the studio surely made it better than he is, but Armstrong was smooth enough.

Probably not southern twangy enough for Vince. Well, they did use it as an entrance music for the Real Double J Jesse Jammes (seriously, who thought up that name ?). It didn't exactly got him over huge...

Well, you underrate Horowitz pretty hard then. I don't think I'd call Tommy Rich in 1990 a *good* worker by any stretch of the imagination. A few good puch, some good fire, but pretty horrific execution, dull offense... Just yikes. Pretty carryable by the right people though.

Talking about Brad Amrstong has a guy perfect to make other people look good made me think of this one : Brad Armstrong or Barry Horowitz ?

"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad
El-P replied to Bix's topic in Megathread archive
Actually, I think he's pretty accurately rated. He certainly had good matches, but I've never seen anything to suggest they should have been pushing him any further than he was. I agree with this. Never struck me as someone who deserved a much bigger push. I don't think I've seen a Brad Armstrong match as good as the best Tito stuff for instance. I meant overrated by people who think he was underrated and deserved more, which seems to be the consensus (maybe I'm wrong about that though). Super solid mechanically, but not the guy you'd have a great match with. Perfect to make other look good. -

For all the talks of "Brad Amstrong is underrated" over the years, I find Brad Armstrong actually quite a bit overrated. -
I can still hear it today. This was all over WWF programms at the time. And I agree, Jeff looked like a star, and back then I didn't understand why he lost the IC belt and then vanished. Jarrett sure was an unreliable guy.

I wish I would get a Euro each time Alvarez says "Listen" at the beginning of a sentence.

I'm sure the fact that he's a trooper helped his case a lot for having a long career in the WWE, because realistically, his work is the shits, he has not much charisma and can't cut a good promo. The Kane character, and especially the mask, and working a major program with Taker helped him a ton to give him some legitimacy, but I don't buy that he became a bigger "star" than Sid was in the 90's. Well, maybe he did, but only by default because the WWE ended up the only game in town. I was sick and tired of Kane after a year and a half, I just wonder how people cop with him 13 years later...
