This was the first mania I didn't order since WM 2. I feel kind of guilty but that seems to be wearing away already. Rock and Cena will probably rematch at Extreme Rules but I don't know where Cena goes from there for his summer program. Punk needs a hiatus and hopefully they don't go to a Show or Orton again. Henry would be a prime option as it's fresh This reminds me of the early mania years where they knew they were going to get some mainstream attention and played every finish safe

is Wayne Arnold heat the same thing as X-Pac heat? Wayne Arnold was a colossal douche and I think Hervey deserves some credit for making him such an unlikeable character. If he would have played Wayne Arnold on WCW TV maybe it would have been better. At the time I couldn't believe he was going out with Missy. I think PWI had a write up about it. Missy was smoking during this time period and would be up till 96

I loved the WCW action figures that were released in 1991. I was ecstatic to finally have non-wwf figures. I remember buying some of the really cheap looking AWA ones in the mid/late 80s but the WCW ones this year were great. I remember getting Flair, Steiners, Sting, Luger Windham and Sid

Holy crap I remember this! They seemed to group him with the Benoits/Guerreros/Malenkos of the world. IIRC they tried that with Blitzkrieg briefly which of course would make more sense

Glad I'm not the only one who still thought Madusa was hot in 1999. She may not have looked as good as she did from 95-97 but the body was still out of this world. And yeah she was taking some pretty impressive bumps during the team madness run. I remember her taking a Stinger splash at bash at the Beach that was pretty excellent btw does anyone else remember Lee Marshall being WCW's "expert" on women's wrestling? Oh WCW why did you leave us?!

Dylan seems to be getting his wish as according to PWI Punk will be taking some time off after Mania. In an ideal world he probably doesn't come back till the build to Summerslam

According to Alvarez the Bellas/Layla/Tamina v Kaitlyn/Funkadactyles/Maria Menounous (!-have to protect that undefeated streak) will be added. Also, Cesaro v Kofi/Truth will be on the pre show. I assume Jericho v Fandango and Barrett/Miz will be added next week. that should fill out the card although I assume they might do something with Rhodes and Sandow (who obviously deserves to make the card) and Tensai and Brodus He also said Kofi is scheduled to turn heel soon. Makes sense as he's been in circles for months and months now oh and when did Layla turn heel?

this has been the worst Mania build since probably WM 18. Last night's RAW was embarrassingly bad. They've been pretty damn good with the builds the last decade or so making this all the more disappointing

Never knew Wrestlemania VIII did so poorly. I guess that's why the company always trashes it in their retrospectives. And praises WM 9

I always liked Sid. It's pretty indescribable really. He just had this weird charisma that drew me in. I marked out like crazy when he was named the special ref for the Summerslam 91 main event. He probably got the loudest pop I've ever heard live at a house show in the summer of 96. It was so loud he came back to the ring after leaving for a curtain call

Interestingly when Bischoff returned from Europe the thing he was most angry about was Barry Windham and Curt Hennig winning the tag belts. They were of course quickly put back on Benoit and Malenko. In a span of four months in early 99 WCW changed their tag titles seven times. Does anyone else remember during this time the rumor that WCW was going to run a Hogan v Hart match on the Nitro from Canada? It was reported like every day and of course never happened

I've been hesitant to say it for whatever reason but this show is fucking awesome. Cole is so much better on this show than RAW that it makes me think it's the production that brings him down, not his ability (lack of) It has such an old school syndie feel to it and I love it.

now that I think about it I hope they do Punk/Brock v Hunter/Taker at the PPV. No way is it happening but Id much prefer it to the singles matches. I have interest in Punk/Taker but Punk is coming of two straight PPV jobs and they would have to do a lot to make him seem half way credible to the streak. the third straight year of Rock/Cena promos are going to be tough to sit through

Before he went on hiatus last summer, Swagger did clean jobs for Santino, Zack Ryder (!), Tyson Kidd(!) and Brodus. I like the guy but man they have a lot of work to do these next six weeks

Now I'm remembering all the stuff that went down during this time. Chastity was supposed to get a push after turning on Raven and joining up with Hak. But it got out that she had done a porn and WCW immediately took her off TV to never be seen again. Colin Quinn even did a joke about her on SNL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOz55l5yIqM this is awesome! Too bad Hogan killed off the angle by getting in Bischoff's ear

already mentinioned but my first thought was Bobo Brazil. and yes I would like to find out if George Steele ever had a good/great match On Hall I remember him mentioning that his matches were formulaic because he listened to the crowd and if they popped for a certain spot he kept it in his repertoire and if they didn't react he ditched it. He had a very simple philosophy on working, do your crowd pleasing spots and have a clean finish and the fans will come back for more

The Flair angle where he's in the limo and gets beat up in the field made me laugh so hard while watching live. I was howling. Especially the part where he shows up at the gas station afterwards. This reportedly cost WCW hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce.
