  1. The Hogan/Nash/Steiner v Flair/Benoit/Mongo match actually scored a higher quarter hour rating than RAW that night. The last time WCW accomplished that. And of course it showed there was still money to be made with Hogan v Flair. The buy rates for Superbrawl and Uncensored reflected that
  2. Grumpy Old Men has Mattheu watching a Nasty Boys match from WCW. In Hangover 2, Alan has posters of Rick Rude, Hillbilly Jim and Macho Man hanging in his room. Cena's random cameo on SNL hosted by Tracy Morgan There was a Mama's Family with a bunch of the wrestlers from GLOW
  3. It's interesting that from his first day in the company they always paired him with someone else or a group. The models, Curtis Hughes, Chyna, Shawn, Outlaws, Waltman, Stephanie, Flair, Orton, Batista. He's never had a solo act.
  4. Rock will not be on Raw tonight. Punk was right!
  5. I had always heard he balked at doing a stretcher job to Undertaker because he had done one for IRS at the same taping and he thought it was a blatant breaking of kayfabe
  6. dont understand the shock in a lot of places over the results here
  7. Rock wins. They are taking no chances.
  8. Looks like babyfaces (if you still consider Cena a face) are winning every match on the card
  9. Cena is the fourth person to win multiple Rumbles joining Hogan, Austin and Shawn
  10. As I mentioned earlier they go the safe route. Cena wins the Rumble. They aren't taking any chances this year in terms of swerves and changing stuff because of predictability
  11. this seems like a fairly hot show that I'm quite interested in. You never know because of how the company hates predictability but I really think they are going the obvious route here and having Rock win and Cena win the Rumble. Ziggler will most likely get the "marathon" push and I wouldn't be completely suprised if they did something with the briefcase tonight
  12. I usually try to defend him as best I can but Cena was so terrible in that final segment. I really have no idea what they are doing with him right now. It's not good though. It might be to the point of no return
  13. Meltz is awesome at the Chi Town Rumble but I don't know if it's as great as him marking out for Hornswoggle's act at a SD taping six or seven years ago in San Jose. Yeah and Dave has such a proud look on his face at the end of Flair/Steamboat. Brad Muster kinda looked like Christian Bale
  14. Polo/Monsoon had incredible chemistry together. Levy would just destroy him and I think for the life of me Gorilla was in on the joke Dusty and Tony on WCW Prime!! MOOOOOOOO!!! I loved that Prime aired on Monday afternoons. Maybe the most non descript timelsot in wrestling history next to Impact on Friday afternoons. And of course infamously was behind at least a week on storylines so you had Tony and Dusty hyping stuff that had already taken place edit: originally had Pro, it was Prime of course!
  15. I'm ashamed to admit I used to navigate all through Rantsylvania.com while in college (in computer labs-Im old) reading over every rant they put up. It took like a decade to get that swill out of my system. Senior year I had a lot of time in between classes and probably read every Keith rant twice over. I can't believe it's been that long ago. Scott is pushing 40 years old
  16. yeah that seems like they are going to have some serious time to fill
  17. pretty strange that Kerry was protected this much. His push was over anyway and he was strictly filler afterwards. I guess heels just always have to cheat in the WWF
  18. pretty sure the woman was Wendi Richter. Right? Not identified as such by the announcers
  19. Reportedly this was one of Vince's most favorite things the company ever produced hence them dusting off the moth balls a few times in later years. IIRC it was the idea of a wrestler/promoter they had hired from some smaller fed. Scott Keith mentioned this once
  20. I always thought this was a pretty good gimmick and an interesting stable during a pretty bad time for WCW. Pretty cutting edge as computers were just entering the main stream. Remember with the turn to the 90s we were entering a "high tech" era. Terri had just turned 24 the month prior. She was green and obviously they didn't want her to talk much. Interesting she would get the mostly non speaking gimmick when she first entered the WWF
  21. Great point. People think it started with the Attitude Era but I think you can go back to 84 at the start of the expansion. I think a lot of it has to do with Vince being a control freak. Plus his world view
  22. Wow All American was still on the air in 1993! (it lasted till 94) I don't think I ever watched an episode past 1989. did Scotty Levy co host with Gorilla? If so then maybe I caught a few episodes but that might have been them hosting another show. I remember them playing a game of horse. Freaking Raven had suprisingly awesome chemistry with Gorilla!
  23. It's been three years since TNA tried going head to head with RAW on Mondays. That's insane that it's already been that long ago.

    RAW 1000

Well let's revisit this six months later. I think Punk has done pretty fine for himself as a heel after a slow start. Probably solidified himself as a true top guy. So who "won" the S.L.L v Loss debate?
  25. Not defending anyone but one of the things the guys complained about during that time was that different agents were telling them different things to do during their matches. I remember Ted specifically griping about that about 5 or so years back. Strongbow would want the match one way but then would be overruled by Lanza, etc. Then you had to please Vince. Plus guys in the ilk of Ted were used to make the the roid monsters look good. But yeah there were opportunities to shine in the right environment.
