WWE signing Gail Kim again a few years ago always struck me as odd since Vince and Kevin Dunn both hated her look during her first run. IIRC Vince was even hesitant to put her on TV. This is why she was let go back in 2004 (this was when they signed a bunch of Divas search castoffs and blonde models with huge implants like Bobbi Billard and Vince and Dunn wanted to turn the division into a trainwreck). I guess they just wanted to mess with TNA -

with Stacy Keibler dating George Clooney think the WWE will try and bring her back? You know they want to now -
Missy you're doing what you do best... BLOWING.....hot air! yeah this stuff is eerily before its time. Paul E seems to love every second of it the WWF would have never done something like this during this time period and Madusa was starting to look really hot around this time

btw Sunny's comment at Survivor Series 96 about Mero's pyro melting Sable's implants always made me laugh. Because it was timed well, the irony of a woman with breast implants insulting another woman for having breast implants and Vince's flustered reaction -

I remember the "Superstars" angle being mentioned in the WWF Magazine in 1996. They published photos of 'Taker grabbing Sable by the throat. It was described as "too intense for television" and I think was hinting at an Undertaker heel turn? As an aside it's amazing how much Rena Mero's appearance changed in less than a calendar year. Shes lying out her ass if she said she didn't have a nosejob/face lift. Plus 2 different boob jobs (by late 97/early 98 they're ridiculous), a fake tan and bleaching her hair to a more whitish blonde. I remember Meltzer saying she had a boob job sometime around the South Africa RAW and must have had another one when Mero was out with his injury and now I seem to recall that the Undertaker might have been the kayfabe reason she would be off TV to get the boob job but then they didn't air it and she just sorta wasn't there a couple weeks -

was there a reason ever given why the WWF edited out Undertaker tombstoning Rena Mero after a Superstars match with Marc in fall of 96? I've heard that it was debated internally whether to air it or not. Was it a PR type thing or "wouldn't fit the character" type thing? And why was it booked like that with all 3 being babyfaces at the time? (if I have my timeline right maybe Mero was on his way to turning heel before the knee injury) edit: watched the match. Aired in February 97. Mero attacks him with a chair after the match and Sable actually acts heelish Weird -
Given how WWE books I think Cena will go over at Summerslam and the angle will be over. He just jobbed to Punk last month and has done a few other jobs lately. I want to be wrong but the way the company does business Cena has to win (in their minds). Just like last Summerslam. I just hope Punk can still stay hot somehow also after this weekend's house show run in Illinois Punk is not scheduled for any house shows. Just RAW tapings. Maybe he negotiated the HBK sweetheart "don't have to work the road" deal

ah makes sense now Starrcade 95 did a real shitty number. .36? Ouch
-
didn't have Internet access at this time so I would have been suprised as hell to hear that. WCW felt like a dead product in 1995 and was on fire in summer of 96. That's really mind boggling. I'm having trouble thinking of reasons for those discrepancies

It just hit my mind that WWE used "Cult of Personality" for Steve Austin's HOF video package! Slow build!
-
again polarizing reaction to the final segment online I kinda dig this back and forth wrestling stuff. It's been years
-
I guess they realized Punk was too hot to not have him work Summerslam. I kinda feel bad for Del Rio but they really have to go Punk/Cena again while both are molten hot oh Punk returned on RAW

a lot of the segments he did with Lawler were great (especially the one with Brian Christopher, one with JR's return, and the tie one) but it went on too long. Extreme Rules should have been the blowoff if not Mania -
well Hunter let Punk imply that he was nailing his wife! We're off to a good start at least!

Reigns that really hurt or devalued a title

both of those matches were listed in WWF magazine for the mania 8 card and I had completely forgot that Dibiase was feuding with Tito during this time. I was a die hard and I don't even think I knew they were programmed then. It sure as hell went nowhere edit: the LOD/Disasters match was listed as a street fight -

At the tapings tonight Daniel Bryan said he will cash in his title shot at WM 28. I doubt they'll end up going that way but that could be a fun angle -
I do agree that there has been a generational shift in the business when it comes to why guys stay/leave. You have the guys who worked in the 70s and 80s who would go on forever because that's just what wrestlers did. Make as much money as possible and then get the fuck out. Then you have the next generation who grew up on 80s/90s wrestling and were big fans and cared about the business. They wanted to have fun, have good matches and great angles. I'm not saying the previous generation didn't care about that stuff but it was often looked at as markish back in those days. So when the current guys don't feel that fire, aren't having fun and aren't getting chances to perform they simply walk away

I can remember for some reason in 06 the company was showing signs of turning things around business wise and Dave sort of alluded that they might be on the precipice of a boom. In fact I think I started I thread about that back in the nmb days. Then it just seemed to end. Probably was Benoit but it was an interesting time
-
Todd Martin liked the final angle!
-
man the ending angle is getting real polarized reactions online. Interesting
-
hell I have to keep reading it over again. At first I thought he was hinting that Hunter was taking over but who the hell knows. I suck at decoding Meltzerese
-
Meltzer is hinting that the final angle was kind of a shoot and Hunter is really taking over Okay things just got interesting real fast again
-
very disappointing ending angle. I won't say the angle is ruined though
