  1. Also isn't questioning a television show's writing the same thing as questioning the booking of a wrestling promotion? Fans question the writing of the shows they love all the time. People even criticized Seinfeld after Larry David left because the writing took a bit of a down turn. Doesn't mean they still didn't like the show. Happens all the time with shows like Simpsons and SNL where there are constant writing regime changes
  2. Fans getting mad at the promotion happened all the time in late era .Crockett and early era WCW. They were the minority most likely but they existed as far as back then. Maybe can go back even further And Pete is right during the attitude WWE basically made the company a heel in and of itself that was run by morons
  3. I actually thought Cass's heel promo was solid. I like the Titus brand and Miz entourage midcard stables they are going with. 80s territory vibe with mid card stables all around now
  4. TNA's first show took place 15 years ago today. Pretty sure I actually ordered that one and maybe one or two others when they wee doing the weekly PPV deal
  5. Now a bunch of wrestlers complaining about the women's match online. Angle alert. They are clearly going to do a rematch
  6. Maria played a "wicked stepmother" type gimmick in TNA that got some praise for those that actually watch TNA. Suffice to say I don't believe she will be playing the "ditsy" gimmick she used from 04-10. Can't believe she's been in the business over 13 years now
  7. Oh man Lana's outfit. There is no way these crowds aren't going to turn her into a huge babyface
  8. Bryan just tweeted that the finish on the women's match will be addressed on SD. So the finish looks to building to them doing another match or .Carmella loses it quick
  9. I get the obvious problems but I still like Carmella and .Ellsworth as an act. Charlotte and Becky didn't need it. Tamina is a lost cause and Nattie doesn't fit the gimmick with her current character
  10. Alicia Fox has been there 9 years and has never really got a strong push at any time. She looks to be a lifer at this point. Yeah it's amazing what random people last a long time
  11. I think WWE clearly still cares about ratings. They are bringing back Cena to both shows because he's basically the only draw they have. This past Monday they shot their biggest angle at the beginning of the show to try and stop viewers from switching over to basketball. Ratings obviously mean less and obviously WWE cares less about them but they clearly still care to a degree or basically this
  12. I sense a rant by Dave on how they've booked Bayley coming. It's been brewing for quite awhile. No way he holds back after tonight
  13. Strike Force beating the Hart Foundation was pretty big for me at 8 years old.
  14. WCW getting Kevin Greene to appear at the January 96 Clash less than a week from him playing in the Super Bowl (!) and barely promoting it is just classic WCW. There is no way an .NFL team allows one of their players to do that today. No way
  15. Stephanie probably never becomes head of creative
  16. on lapsed fan Dave said the original WM 5 main event was Hogan v Dibiase. So Ted was going to be champion for a year. I still don't see how they handle house shows for a whole year without Dibiase going over at least sometimes (non screwy finishes)
  17. how do they handle the house shows? Have DiBiase get dq'd every night or have him go over midcard type guys (Duggan types)? Or put him in tags so he could get pinned without losing the title
  18. What does the crowd in New Orleans do that night? Hijack the whole show or just Orton/Batista? Is it a public relations nightmare? Does the end of the streak get the same reaction? Does Vince even book the end of the streak because there's no storybook feel good ending with Bryan that night? Would Bryan eventually get the belt or do they just go from .Batista to Brock to build up Roman? If Punk stays and goes over Hunter does it help him long run or does he stay at the same level and ease into a mechanic role while Roman is on top?
  19. I swear I remember seeing that Flair was supposed to be Dibiase's protege who would try to dress and act like Ted but ultimately keep letting him down that would lead to Flair turning face. If so Flair absolutely made the right choice to stay with the NWA. I believe he was going to be Brother Love's guest at Summerslam 88 before facing Savage. Honestly I see it being worse than the 91-93 run. Business was still strong so Vince probably would be settling scores and I could see Flair being cannon fodder for the top guys before going permanently to the mid card. The gimmick they had planned for him sort of backs that up. NWA would have struggled with no one to pass the torch to Sting or Luger. Just a guess but I bet they would would have gone with Windham in the top heel spot especially if .Dusty stayed
  20. Pretty sure the idea was to build to a Hogan v Steiner match
  21. As I mentioned in another thread Turner exec Sharon Sidello was responsible for these mini movies. She was also Ole Anderson's girlfriend

    WWE Backlash 2017

WWE has already announced three rematches from the show for the June 13 Smackdown from New Orleans Orton v Jinder for title AJ v Owens for US title Nak v Ziggler cool they are building this up Clash of Champions style

Not really a Jnder fan but it's something different. Cool with it. And hey Jinder dominated the build to this match and won. Very rarely does WWE do that. Interesting to see where this goes. Orion is probably at his lowest point since around .wM 30 where he seemed completely irrelevant

    WWE Backlash 2017

With Corbin jobbing so much lately he's assuredly winning mitb next month
  25. I think we covered this before but the original Starrcade 93 card was: Sid v Vader for WCW title Sting v Rude for International title Flair and Steamboat v Nasty Boys for tag titles right? I assume the rest of the card stayed pretty much the same. They probably could have put Davey Boy (if he didn't leave) with Regal again as the Havoc match didn't have a clean finish. I guess they could have held off on Boss's debut or but him against a low midcard type to make him look good
