  1. You and I will probably be low on the AJPW guys and high on arn anderson.
  2. How is this note still going almost ten years later?
  3. I've not nominated anyone as of yet, I don't think, but a guy I could potentially see towards the end of my list is Adrian Street. So I'm nominating him for discussion.
  4. When I watch those Misawa and Kawada matches suggested to me in the other thread, I'll make sure to watch that one too. I did stick in the execute to desired effect bit in there too. I was going to go on about how a general "desired effect" might match up or not with my own desired effect and then my grand theory of Flair, but I've got to write about Larry Zbyzsko in Japan here.
  5. The joke is: "No, no, you're thinking about Johnny." The statement I will say instead is: I value the outcome of one over the outcome of the other but think both are important. I am well on record in saying that the most important element of wrestling to me is "making moves matter." Understanding pro wrestling and then utilizing that understanding to a desired effect. It helps, as well, when that desired effect matches up with my own preferences, but I try to understand situations when it doesn't, so long as I feel that understanding is there from the other end.
  6. Fuck it. I'm actually really frustrated that no one bit on this statement from before: That comment sort of made me feel it again.
  7. I think this is a tough one to accurately compare without more complete Stampede footage.
  8. The words Exile + Main Street have been linked in my mind for 30+ years. Apologies to Kris but when i link Badstreet its to USA. Main Street, Atlanta USA! Mainest street in the whole GA! Great show, guys. Can't wait to vote Sasha Banks top 25 on my WKO 100 ballot this year. She'll lose 100 places if she gets called up though. It's a structure/agency thing.
  9. This may be a weird statement, but if I could say one thing to Flair, and the one thing that I think he'd want to hear the most, it wouldn't be that he was the best wrestler ever or had the most great matches or that I was a big fan or even how great Charlotte is. It'd be that they were crazy for not using him somehow on screen every week now.
  10. I always found Flair's opening matwork to be pretty compelling too. Whether or not it means something or should mean something is a different matter, but he's usually pretty entertaining about it. There are different axes on the scale when it comes to matwork. Complexity or "tricked out"-ness is only one of them.

    Women in the WWE

    Because of this? http://kevineckwrestling.sportsblog.com/posts/2218634/to-truly-give-divas-a-chance--wwe-needs-to-give-them-better-creative.html
  12. Sometimes if I read too much commentary from an author about his work or just in general, I can hear his too personal voice too clearly in his fiction. I have that problem with Jericho's matches, more so than any other wrestler I can think of.
  13. Watch 1980 Portland
  14. I don't want to be associated with Chad, Pete, or the Young Bucks. Matt Denton On the Boards I'm okay with, because at least he's skilled at what he does.
  15. If Dylan is wrestling with culture, he's probably losing on points.
  16. I absolutely loved the Breaks I saw. I need to make time for this somehow.
  17. There are call back spots and continuity in and between matches with the Misawa I've seen that hugely impresses me. That said I came out of all of those legendary tags with no context on an honest first watch a year or two ago liking Taue way more. You can see that dawning on me and surprising me in my thoughts as the matches go on as it's documented in DVDVR. So I'm not just trying to be contrary. I do admit it's also a footage issue with what I've seen though.
  18. You should watch more of Misawa and Kawada in different environments (i.e. NOT 40 minute epics) so you can realise how ridiculous that claim is. Same for Kobashi although he isn't as good as the aforementioned two. Suggest me some matches. I've liked the early 90s six mans I've seen so I would want something else for variety.
  19. Better execution?
  20. I'm amazed none of you realize what's REALLY happening here. This is Dixie's version of a Lie Detector test, like she mentioned wanting to do on Austin's show. She gave every one she knows a different piece of false information and waited to see who would leak it to Dave. Now, assuredly, the double agent is revealed.
  21. Zero problem with the apron powerbomb taking out Sami out since it's been established to do that. It was the move that KO'd him when he beat Neville and it was a move that injured Neville for weeks. It's established as not just a kill shot but a Piledriver in Memphis injury spot. That we knew Sami came in injured, it was even more so. There was some sense of dread in the match, that the second Owens could take over, it'd be over due to the injury.
  22. Will's casual, nonchalant, heeling on an increasingly hot Pete was one of the best things I've ever heard on these.
  23. Likewise, what sitcoms needed blading the most.

    Raven

If only we could vote just on his chemistry with Gorilla Monsoon.
  25. At this point, ROH's library would be worth way more to them than TNA's, no?
