I really sort of hate Flair on podcasts/shoots. Listening to them always hurt my perception of him as a wrestler. He'll be interviewing other people and I bet a good chunk of them won't be wrestling related at all.
I think people are afraid Rusev's undefeated streak goes to Cena, a guy who doesn't need it. But there's no doubt the match(es) will be very good-great.
Right... I think everyone wants a Cena-Rusev program... that makes Rusev stronger.
Totally true, but this idea that every unbeaten streak needs to be broken by some up and comer who "needs it" is flawed. If that happened every time it'd be predictable. Underdogs can't win in that scenario every time, then they wouldn't be underdogs. Sometimes the monster heel who's unbeaten needs to get beat by the top dog. But just not their first match.
I think we all figured that Rusev was being built up to be fed to Cena. I think what you're hearing is the combined scream of "No, not yet!"
Austin just needs someone to run into his fist a lot. He's good enough to sell without needing to bump a whole lot. I still think the best way to elevate someone with these scenarios is to run a tag match though.
For as easy as it is to slag on WWE, they'll give us a week with Sin Cara/Cesaro, Owens/Zayn, the NXT four way, the Tag Team Turmoil, and Cena/Ambrose vs Harper/Rusev.
That's all in one week over four different shows.
Haven't been able to find anyone else to watch this yet, but it's from a few days ago and I really dug it. Double FIP, with Ambrose an absolute beast on the apron and with a really strong hot tag and with Rusev and Harper working very well together. The finish is probably a LITTLE too simplistic for it to be a MOTYC for WWE but in some ways that's actually a strength. It was the right finishing stretch for the crowd. Watch it and provide thoughts.
At the time i thought Pac seemed to be having a lot of fun playing WWF loyalist babyface for a couple of months there. There's a tag match with him and Hardy, I think which I dug 14 years ago but haven't watched since.
EDIT: might be this. No idea how it's aged though:
Maybe you didn't hear the reaction show but Kris and I defended the match and gave it a thumbs up.
This is obviously the PWO Elite trying to implicate a SegundaCaida groupthink.
