I'm not typing that rant out again but honestly, it does play a little bit into Shawn Michaels "performer" and as a guy who would take certain parts of the match that he shouldn't to the detriment of the match.

I kind of love Countdown. It's a lot of fun to see the WWE guys as talking heads for the most part.

I'm not saying this with Tanahashi necessarily, but just in general: I can appreciate someone who connects with the crowd and not with me, but given the sheer number of great nominees on the table, that will very likely make that person an honorable mention at best.

A wrestler giving the fans what they want is a very, very tricky thing to weigh in all this.

In general I don't disagree heavily, not because it shouldn't be done but because it's not done to the extent that when it is, it does stand out. That said, re: Late Michaels, it's more of an issue to me when he dropped the back selling, because so many of his matches were built around his opponent working over his damaged back. The more the limbwork is an essential part of the narrative, the more of an issue it is when it's dropped.

I will say that Martel looks a hell of a lot better vs Buddy than he does vs Harley that year.

There was something pretty special about seeing it in 02-03 when local indies would generally bring in a guy like Beefcake like it was a big deal, and suddenly you had all these guys you only read about on the internet or saw in ".rm" files or whatever, guys like Daniels and Red and the SAT and Low Ki and Styles. It felt almost like the internet wrestling geek version of when Vince suddenly had all these guys on his roster in 85.

So the only time that Brock ever drew sufficiently as a main eventer was when he wasn't in wrestling. Got it.
