  1. I reviewed The G1 Climax 2013 Day 2 here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/08/nj...esults-and.html Overall thoughts: Pretty great show with lots of good stuff up and down the card. The main event is must see and the last 4 matches or so are all really good. Check this one out. Some shots from the show:
  2. Remember too that this was Japan in the early 80's, where there were like 1% of the foreigners there now.
  3. I reviewed Day 1 of the 2013 G1 Climax here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/08/nj...esults-and.html Overall thoughts: This was a really good show from top to bottom. There were tons of upsets and lots of matches that exceeded expectations. Kojima/Tanahashi was my MOTN and I really liked the UWFi Smith/Shibata match. Some shots from the show:
  4. Also, cable doesn't exist in Japan and most people don't have satellite, especially then in the 1980's. Most Japanese people I know have under 12 channels, in 2013.
  5. TNA had somewhere between 5-7 authority figures at one time. There was Hogan, Bischoff, Tracy Brooks, Brooke Hogan, Dixie and others.
  6. I liked early Edge and his main run as the Rated-R Superstar, but little else. I always thought he was overrated as a worker. Viscera's run as the World's Largest Love Machine started with him hitting on Lillian IIRC. It gets worse as he started dry humping opponents during matches. The Hurricane/Rosey team lasted a while, but I don't really know why. It wasn't a highpoint for the WWE tag team division. The HBK/Shelton match was definitely Shelton's best match ever, maybe minus an Evolution tag.
  7. "This is a REAL INJURY. This is a groin pull the likes of which you've never seen."
  8. I thought they could have done more with Atlas. He and Henry were a great pair: I second this....they should have brought the act for a Main Event fun on RAW for a few months...they were a GREAT team...they should Booker with him (Henry) now and do that same type thing on the big show... I actually took the first one years ago, and I'm surprised to see it still floating around. I found this one too.
  9. Who wants to watch wrestling in a window on a laptop screen? Just viewing stuff on Youtube takes any of the fun away from me. If I ever put aside any time to watch anything, I want to lie back and watch it in proper quality on a proper television. I prefer to watch wrestling on a computer screen versus a TV screen. I'm closer to my pc, I prefer chairs over sofa's and I can do other stuff on the PC at the same time. I have over 3,500 DVD's but prefer just to get stuff from youtube and other sites now. I haven't even seen 1/10 of my collection.
  10. Most of Japan uses flip phones still. They were incredibly popular over there and a lot of people still haven't made it over to iphones yet.
  11. I think some of the territories could have been saved and could have survived longer. The big thing would have been to better secure their tv through contracts and whatever they needed to do along with guaranteed contracts for wrestlers. Maybe the wrestlers and TV still would have gone, but it would have delayed the process a little. Promoters also needed to cross the territorial lines and understand that the idea of bringing someone in for a 6 week run was done. The promoters also needed to do this around Vince's first run, as they would have still suffered bad by 1986. I'd like to mention that a lot of the territories were dead before Vince came through, mostly due to the local promoters being inept like The Sheik's territory and the WWA. People often credit Vince for killing off so many territories but tons of places closed up shop in the 70's.
  12. Kenny from the Spirit Squad Ahh yes. Thanks Wasn't it called the flying squirrel? Nah, that was a move from slamball.

  14. Just press the X on your internet bar. It will stop loading the page and stop the pics/gifs.
  15. I hated that match so bad. They spent the whole match literally looking at each other without making any moves or doing any strikes. Sakuraba looked so absurdly bored by the whole match as well and didn't seem to care one bit. Did you see the match? I'd like to hear your opinion on it. I loved Nakamura vs Sakuraba but it was nothing like it. I also do love shoot style, but what Sak does comes off of more of "play MMA".
  16. I reviewed the NJPW Kizuna Road iPPV here: Overall thoughts: It was a good but overly long show. I think they could have cut half of a few matches and minutes off others to make this one better. Ishii/Suzuki, Shibata/Goto and Nakamura/Sombra were the matches of the night but on the other hand, Sakuraba/Nagata was one of the worst matches of the year and Tanahashi was completely wasted in his role. This is definitely worth a look for the matches I mentioned above but for the others, there were honestly better house show matches. Some shots from the show:

    Current WWE

I'd really like to see Wyatt convert someone to his family. I think it would be a good angle and would lead to interesting TV, but I want that person to be good at wrestling. They need a worker in that group.
  18. Anyone have any memories of Bobby 2 Badd? I only saw him once but his name interested me. Wildside aired for maybe 1 or 2 whole shows here around 2003-2004ish on local TV. I remember Onyx and The Rainbow Express working some kind of ladder match or at least challenging for one.
  19. If you're in the WWE and you win or lose a match, how much money should you get it(in kayfabe)?
  20. If you're in the WWE and you win or lose a match, how much money should you get it(in kayfabe)? I've been wondering this for a while and I figured I'd make a thread on it. Obviously a Wrestlemania victory should be worth more than a victory on Main Event, but what does everyone think would be fair purses for victories?
  21. Marty was a good midcarder and upper level midcarder. He couldn't have been more on a major stage, but I could have seen him having a great run in something like a Memphis. He gets too much crap for not being Shawn Michaels and not enough credit for being a very good midcard hand. Had he and WCW had their stuff together, there's no reason he shouldn't have had a Rick Martel run where he could have gotten good matches out Benoit/Eddie and the cruiserweights. I'd rather have a bunch of solid midcard hands than some so-so top guys. Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins should both be wishing they were half as talented as Marty Jannetty. Any Bret vs Marty matches out there? That would have been fun.
  22. CWA Memphis TV 2/11/1984 had: The Zambaui Express vs Jim Jamison and Ira Reese King Konga and Joe Leduc vs Ken Raper and Jim Jamison The Road Warriors vs Jerry Lawler and Austin Idol I reviewed the show with pics and gifs here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/07/cw...tv-2111984.html Overall thoughts: This was a pretty good show. Joe Leduc and King Konga were pretty awesome and all the promo's and music videos were good. While the matches weren't great, the other stuff being good more than made up for it. Memphis was really loaded at this time with The Roadies, Macho Man, Joe Leduc, and Rick Rude This is worth a look. Some shots from the show:
  23. I agree. The other thing is that we don't even know whether it exists anymore or not.
  24. If you mean the different clips of main events on Memphis TV, sadly no. There's a few floating around, mostly from the era where one of the cities got an extra Memphis show with non-studio matches. As for why, no foresight that anyone would want to watch it and they were too busy worrying about what to do the next week.
