  1. Didn't the PPV cut off before the finish or something here?

    Current WWE

I actually really dig recent (last 4-5 years) WWE from an in-ring perspective. With some guys, it's almost like the limitations put on their matches has made them more creative. Guys like Christian, Bryan, Punk, etc. Present-day WWE is perfect for a dvr society. I watch it on Tuesday most of the time. I can see what matches and segments people are talking about the next day, and skip the rest.
  3. I have got to re-watch that Mind Games match. There's been like four or five of you have it on your list. I recall liking it, but not nearly that much. Haven't seen it in a while, though.
  4. That could've been amazing. Have them act like your douche-y uncle with a pony tail and a gold chain who still thinks he's "got it". Also, I could never get behind the Richard Morton run. He needed new gear. Just didn't work with him still in his bandanas and stuff.
  5. Yea using Brock to get over a new talent would be such a waste. I would bet every single dollar I have that Brock costing Ryback HIAC leading to Lesnar vs. Ryback would be a hotter match than HHH vs. Lesnar II. You know that feud that fans were so into they mockingly chanted "You Tapped Out" to HHH when he was pretending to consider retirement. I welcome a HHH/Lesnar rematch. If nothing else, it should give us plenty of Shawn Michaels acting worried. That's always gold.
  6. Watched the Punk doc last night. Extremely well-done piece. I was really impressed with the shooting and editing on it. It really tells one of the better narratives that they've had on a dvd. In other discussions of Punk's dvd, I've heard people saying Jericho's was previously the best they'd done (on a single guy). Is Jericho's really that good?
  7. Especially a few weeks after Jerry Lawler having a heart attack... Vince won't have a heart attack. His heart will jump out of his chest and explode in a cocaine and steroid-fuelled rage.
  8. That was a crazy crowd for Raw tonight. The arena was shaking for the Vince/Punk stuff.
  9. To be fair, weren't the Braves a last-place team the year before? I'd imagine they weren't exactly expecting the Braves to be in that position when they scheduled the PPV.
  10. I'd doubt my station would cancel a newscast if an anchor had a heart attack on set. Then again, that would require a news anchor to have a heart.

    Tonight's RAW

I loved the Lawler/Punk stuff. Too bad they couldn't have done it when they were in Memphis or even in Louisville or somewhere where King is a big deal still. I do think a lot of the dead crowd was due to being worn out from a long show. I wouldn't be surprised to see this happen more and more in main events for Raw. Three hours is a long time for someone (especially a kid) to be hyped for something. Also, the HHH thing probably killed them a bit. I fast-forwarded through it and it still seemed too long.
  12. I agree that the formula works when done right with slight variations on it. It's kinda like how verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/etc has worked for popular music. It's just that in WWE right now, the chords to every song are exactly the same.
  13. It does give me a good cue to start fast-forwarding on the dvr. Actually, the whole show is kinda one big cue to fast-forward most weeks.
  14. I am very happy to have gotten married before facebook, texting, skype, etc. came into prominence. I had been dumped all the conventional ways. I didn't need technology introducing a bunch of new ones for me.

    1990 hype!

So, obviously whoever wrote that rap wasn't aware of what "doing the wild thing" meant... ....or were they?
  16. Did he blade?
  17. While the acting was shitty (did anyone expect better out of the players involved, though?), this ^ was my biggest problem with the segment. I realize you don't want to cut away from a main event involving Cena or Punk or something, but maybe it shouldn't have closed the show then. Another thing that bothers me is Lesnar constantly running from HHH. The dude had no fear of Cena or, if you go back to his original run, anyone else. Now he runs like a bitch any time HHH gets near him.
  18. Yeah, I'd call this a step up from TNA.
  19. Jerry's on fire in this thread, but this is my favorite.
  20. My first shows were at the old Keil Auditorium in St. Louis. The first show I went to was a WWF show in 86. Hogan/Orndorff headlined and there was a Sam Munchnick tournament that Harley Race won. It was all smokey in the building. People threw shit at the heels. I was 8 years old, and actually kind of scared. I went back for another show a year or so later with a JYD/Steamboat/Piper vs. Race/Savage/Adonis elimination match. I had a blast. That place just screams old-school to me.

    RAW 1000

It was fine for what it was. I was just joking because it seemed like there were like 20 recaps of the HHH stuff. I don't really get why they can't pack more stuff into the 3 hours. Seriously, why? They have guys that are barely being used. There's like 20% new footage on these shows.

    RAW 1000

The only problem I had with the show is that I really needed some more HHH/Lesnar recaps.
  24. Also, the name "Team Ambition" is like the lamest thing ever.

    RAW 1000

I thought the implication was that once married, Bryan was going to have AJ committed Yeah, but with no real payoff or even tease. Suspect they'll have her committed down the road. I kept waiting for some mention of that. WWE isn't exactly known for subtlety in their segments. Usually, they'd hit you over the head with "BRYAN'S GOING TO HAVE AJ COMMITTED!!!" Kinda seems like something that was dropped or forgotten or something.
