Yeah, the matches from The Main Event were included so I see no reason why they wouldn't be in this lineup.

Watching this week's episode of Smackdown and I had two thoughts: 1. Cesaro's theme music sounds like what they used to use to dub over licensed music on home video releases. 2. Does Chris Jericho just come back once a year to put someone over now?

Whose rep was particularly boosted by the Apter mags?

There was also a year or two around 1984, I think, where they ceased calling the WWF title a world championship because they said it was pretty much a regional title at that point. -

I love this thread topic. I grew up on the Apter mags, going back to the late 80s. There was an older kid on my street who was into both the WWF and the NWA so he helped expose me to the product back then. He also read the Apter mags and I, having been reading the WWF publications for years prior thought the Apter mags were pretty cheap since they had so much black & white. As I got older and my tastes matured a bit I enjoyed grabbing as many copies of PWI, The Wrestler, and Inside Wrestling as I could. I would definitely say Sabu was made by those magazines. I thought his signing with WCW in 1995 was one of the biggest stories of the year. I didn't get to actually see ECW TV until a local station picked it up a few weeks after Nitro debuted. Growing up I remember the Road Warriors, Steiners, and Sting being treated as wrestling gods. There also seemed to be a handful of indy guys who got regular press in the magazines. I think I read somewhere that you could get press if you paid for it and supplied your own photos. Maybe that was just to get a ranking in the basement of the PWI 500? -
Did Sandow start a YouTube channel without permission or something?

Does anyone still watch wrestling on videotapes?

I do still have the original VHS release of WrestleMania I that my brother found at a thrift store in the clamshell case. And it's in excellent viewing condition, too. -

Christ, I'd forgotten that "Dianetics" commercial. That and commercials for Troy Aikman's QB game seemed to run non-stop on WCW Saturday Night. "They stole Aikman's brain!" -
Vince will return to TV whenever he thinks that he will be able to boost Raw's ratings.

Would have been terrible if he couldn't get himself to cough up all that blood in time for the angle.
-
In that same vein I use the phrases "get yourself over" and "put yourself over" in everyday conversation when describing someone trying to get noticed. There's probably other wrestling terms I use in conversation that I don't realize.

It only takes a second to proofread a tweet but it seems everyone is in a hurry to get it out there.

I think it's on the last DVD bio they did for the Rock where Vince himself says he didn't like the "This is Your Life" skit and has no idea why it was so highly rated. Watching it live and as a fairly experienced wrestling fan at the time, I knew there was a payoff coming. Foley would go through all this sillyness, finally the last person would be revealed as someone who would attack the Rock along with Foley. Heel turn, easy feud. You don't run a 25 minute interview segment without a payoff, right? I still think myself and every other wrestling fan sat through that because they thought there was a big angle or swerve coming at the end. I think you're forgetting the star-making conclusion of Triple H storming out to kick balloons and pout.

Wiki says that she just disappeared without a mention. Maybe someone thought it a good idea to take her off the road after she became involved with Benoit for real? I don't remember the timeline of that angle becoming reality very well. At this point Chris & Nancy had been together for a while already. Awkward Chris Benoit moment : putting on the crippler crossface on Meng until he passes out. I really didn't had trouble rewatching most of Benoit's matches during this period, but this spot was just uncomfortable as all hell. I watched that last month. I felt a little icky as well. What I find uncomfortable as hell is the little boy screaming in Benoit's WWE entrance video. I'm not trying to be funny, either.

Brian Kendrick's stories about Benoit were alternately hilarious and disturbing.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
artDDP replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Since things have settled down for me lately (and I finished all my laundry on Wednesday) I sat down to watch this whole show. I haven't seen TNA since Nigel McGuinness slashed Abyss with a bottle and I wasn't expecting much. I thought MVP was great on the mic here and was really impressed. He seemed way more natural than the tightly-scripted promos from many in WWE. So, wait, TNA has two feuding heel authority figures? I hate crap like that. I can't believe in 2014 a supposed national promotion is still trying to squeeze a nickel out of ECW. Lol, when I heard that line I was like "What the fuck is that?" TNA thinks this angle is a way bigger deal than any of their fans do. -
The posts about Rollins' new attire made my whole weekend, lol.

This one for me, too. I've seen some pretty awful blade jobs but I could reasonably believe the bleeder was in control of his own actions. For Zach Gowen I was pretty sure he was at the mercy of Brock Lesnar and most of the bumps he was taking did not look protected. I thought the blood was excessive and either Gowen didn't know what he was doing or cut too deep to try to get himself over. I read an interview where Gowen said he loved the angle and wasn't hurt but I'm not sure if that's true or he's just trying to stay in WWE's good graces.

I haven't watched or owned a VHS tape in over thirteen years. I lost all my wrestling tapes when my parents stopped paying for their storage locker ten years ago. At the time I thought I'd never see those old NWA/WCW PPV cards again and was pretty upset. The only tapes I wish I still had are the 1998 WWF Home Video issue of WrestleMania III and my live PPV copy of WrestleMania XVII, both because they had the original music. Watching these cards with the original music edited out just loses a lot of the nostaglia appeal for me. Come to think of it, now that I have the Network I'm glad I never bought any of those anthology sets, either. EDIT: I just checked the Network and they have the full PPV version of WM XVII up, complete with Snickers Cruncher plugs and "My Way". -

I might just find the free time to watch this. -
I'll have to go back and watch it but I seem to remember that being part of the discussion, yes. Rock and Foley were quoted saying Vince was losing his mind at how long they were going and the next day they were rubbing it in his face about how high the ratings were. Then they cut to Vince who gripes about not thinking the segment was anything special and not getting why so many people watched it. Vince thinks poop jokes and fucking corpses will draw huge numbers, though.

I paid $20 for ringside here in Sacramento. The Memorial Auditorium here seats about 2,000 and that show probably drew about 200. -

Well, then he's either making enough money to afford food and supplements from his career or he's going broke trying to pay for all of it. -
He bought the "PWI 500" issue?
