I'm not sure WCW was quite ready to execute all of these ideas. You'll see what I mean when you watch this. DDP reveals that Paul E. paid off the bimbos to pretend they were having an affair with Steamboat. Steamboat's music starts playing at Center Stage and the DA surrounds Paul E. Steamboat LEAPS OVER THEM and tears off Paul E.'s pants and the other babyfaces come in to even the sides and hold the DA at bay. Once they got past DDP and to the action, this was pretty good.

Oh man the part where DDP says the guest host made him a lot of money and the host replies "Can I have some?" is great. DDP as idiot reporter is a weird gimmick.

I thought the segment was great. It built to a really good match. I wish it played the week before instead of in the same show.

Not sure I support DDP being the one to unveil that Paul E. had paid off those weapon to make up accusations about Steamboat. Dangerous Alliance, mainly Larry, did a pretty poor job of stopping Steamboat but he deserved to get him some of Heyman.

DDP is out to interview Paul E. and reveals that Paul paid women to make allegations against Steamboat. This brings out Steamboat and leads to a big brawl with the DA and other faces.

Dave Casper, the old football player? These are some random-ass guest hosts. Page, who has "GOOD" and "GAWD" on each of his sleeves, hypes a segment that sounds like a precursor to GTV. Page and Paul E. have some decent chemistry as Page introduces bootleg camera footage of Paul E. trying to stiff the two chicks from the earlier segment who were accusing Ricky Steamboat. Babyface turn? I'm not sure what the purpose is of DDP fingering heel tactics or coming off as being responsible for babyface run-ins. A good brawl erupts, with Paul E. getting his pants stripped.

This was a fun little segment, Paul E's reaction when Steamer's music hit was priceless.

I haven't watched the Rude segment before this yet, but it couldn't possibly get much weirder than this one. Heyman being in essence set up for an attack by a fellow heel? That alone blows my tiny mind, as does Heyman paying off random women to say they had affairs with Steamboat. Then Ricky's able to leap over three waiting DA members to get at Heyman and tear off his pants? No wonder JR just sat there looking uncomfortable with the whole thing. The "Steamboat as stalker" thing needed to be debunked somehow, but I'm not sure this was the way.

 

God, was DDP ever smarmy. I was waiting for Heyman to take a swing at him with his phone.

 

Casper was a riot asking DDP for some of the money that he'd supposedly made him over the years. DDP, of course, no-sold the question, as you'd expect.

 

Did we ever see another edition of Down with DDP, and does anyone know what got DDP suspended by Frey in the first place?

DDP was laying it on super thick.  I'm glad he had toned it down some when he got to his big babyface run that should have lasted way longer.  This was weird for reasons mentioned above.  DDP outing Heyman is just way out of left field.  Did he turn face after this?
