Loss
Jake does what is probably the best interview in Wrestlemania history before the match. Then we cut to the last few minutes of the match. DiBiase gets his million dollar belt back as this year-long feud finally ends. I didn't remember Jake making the comeback post-match, but DiBiase eats a DDT to get the last laugh in the feud. DiBiase getting the bill stuck in his throat is really the PERFECT conclusion to the feud. Wow. Again, there is no heat due to bad acoustics. PeteF3
"How appropriate...that the money you beg for will be your very own. A victim of your own greed. Wallowing in the muck of avarice." Yeah, that's legitimately chill-inducing. Virgil certainly earns his pay on this night--he gets DiBiase the victory, successfully protects the Million Dollar Belt after the match, then comes back to rescue DiBiase from Damian. I dub this the most successful night of Virgil's professional bodyguarding career. The finish itself is sort of bullshit but I can also understand it. DiBiase needed protecting more than Jake and Jake didn't really need the Million Dollar Belt. DiBiase gets to keep his gimmick and Jake gets the last laugh after the bell. This feud ran for a full calendar year (it began at WM5), an eternity by WWF standards, and this is about as well-done of a blowoff as they could have done under the circumstances. soup23
Chilling promo by Jake. Clips we see are fine and I am glad that Jake gets revenge at the very end and the cheap finish for the heel made sense with Virgil there to help. I also love jesse being offended that Jake gives Mary Tyler Moore a hundred dollar bill.
shoe
Jake was the master at making you care about his feuds. He has an uncanny way of hooking you in. This is no exception.
Kevin Ridge
Jake with the awesome prematch promo. Cut to match and Jake is looking to put on the DDT. Virgil gets involved. Million Dollar Dream outside the ring. Jake gets counted out though and Dibiase wins by countout. Ah, the old days with count out and disqualification results on WrestleMania cards. Roberts hits the DDT after that match and gives out some of Dibiase’s legit money to the crowd.
Cox
Great, great promo by Jake before the match. They just don't do 'em like that anymore. They pretty much pay this feud off perfectly. DiBiase keeps the belt under shady circumstances (and really, Jake as Million Dollar Champion after this feud doesn't make much sense), but Jake gets the last laugh by leaving DiBiase laying, giving away his cash, and stuffing a $100 bill down his throat. Nice work by Jake kissing Mary Tyler Moore's ass, though. Was she just there as a fan? I don't remember WWF billing her as one of the celebrities of record pre-Wrestlemania, and they were hyping somebody named Rona Barrett, so you have to think if they knew Mary Tyler Moore was going to be there, they would have played that for all it was worth. But it seems to me that she would be a wrestling fan.
flyonthewall2983
Bobby Heenan had a funny story about MTM being obsessed with Barbarian's outfit. I'd imagine since she paid for a ticket, they didn't want to hype her appearance if at all so she wouldn't be bothered. Like when they were in Los Angeles some years back and Billy Corgan and a few other b or c-list celebs were in the audience.

Or Los Angeles the very next year and Macaulay Caulkin, at the height of his fame, was there. He got shown on camera but wasn't hyped, in lieu of much hipper names like Regis Philbin and Paul Maguire.
flyonthewall2983
Probably the only time a genuine A-lister (at the time) was ever noted at one of these things. That aside, the Jake promo is probably one of the best things he's ever done. The match was okay, probably most notable for me was when the crowd did the wave. garretta
I would have liked to see Jake win the match, then throw the belt down on DiBiase's lifeless body, but that's just the Jake fan in me talking. His promo was probably the best and most pointed ever cut on the Million Dollar Man character; that's why it resonates like it does. Finally, someone gets to the heart of why this man is so hated and promises payback for all the little people, which he then delivers. Just tremendous. If you think about it, this is the end of Teddy's big run. He gets paid off for all of his bad deeds over the years (except for abusing Virgil), and is made to choke on his own money. Yes, he has the Million Dollar Belt, but that's just an expensive trinket. In all other ways, he's finished as a singles main event player, and it was probably the last great heel run that started and finished in the Hulkamania era. Hats off to a hell of a worker. I'm assuming that the bill Mary got was either autographed by the some of the boys and framed in her house or given to another lucky fan seated nearby. drew wardlaw
Awesome moment when Jake slithers in at the top of the screen and clotheslines DiBiase and Virgil. Awesome looking DDT and a bill in the mouth. As always though, the presence of that poor abused snake bums me out.
GSR
Jake says here at Wrestlemania it is the biggest match in Ted Dibiase’s career because everything he stands for, namely the Million Dollar Belt, is on the line. It can be his once again, all he has to do is go through Damian and him. The thing is, they don’t forget though. They remember all the times he made people grovel for his money, people far less fortunate than him, people that could use that money for essentials. What did he do? He made fun of them, humbled and humiliated them. Well now it’s his turn. He’s going to make Dibiase beg and get down on his hands and knees. This time he’ll be the one that’s humbled and humiliated, the one that grovels for the money. And how appropriate that the money you grovel for is your own, a victim of his own greed wallowing in the muck of avarice. The match is joined in progress and a short clothesline from Jake and he signals for the DDT. Dibiase grabs the referee’s leg to stop him applying the hold, and with the referee distracted, Virgil pulls Jake out of the ring. Jake clocks him with a right, slams him on the concrete, but Dibiase sneaks up from behind and puts the Million Dollar Dream on him. Jake runs into the ringpost to break the hold and both men are down on the arena floor. Virgil rolls Dibiase back in the ring just before the ten count to win the match and regain his Million Dollar belt. Dibiase celebrates in the ring with the belt whilst Virgil is flashing the cash, and Jesse Ventura says how it’s a non-sanctioned title so you can win it on a count out or a disqualification. Jake gets back in the ring and hits them both with a double clothesline and the money goes flying everywhere. Virgil is able to grab the Million Dollar belt and sprints to the back, but Jake finally catches Dibiase with a DDT. He gives the money out to ringsiders and stuffs a bill in Dibiase’s mouth for good measure. He’s about to Damian over him when Virgil rushes back down and gets Dibiase out of there. For a feud that ran for so long it’s a lousy finish, but I ‘suppose’ Jake got a bit of retribution with the post-match DDT and the ‘ultimate humiliation’ of stuffing a bill in Dibiase’s own mouth. Promo before the match from Jake was excellent.
dawho5
Great promo by Jake and post-match was perfect. Starting to think Ted had something to do with how great this feud was for where it was on the card.
cactus
Solid wrestling with sound psychology, these two did everything right, but the Skydome audience would rather entertain themselves by doing the wave. Robert teases the DDT multiple times but is unable to ever land it. They build up well to a Roberts comeback, as Roberts is brilliant at subtlety egging on the fans to get behind without looking like he's pandering. Dibiase is able to retain his belt by getting Roberts counted out as Virgil interferes. Roberts get payback by stuffing money down Dibiase's throat. An okay match, with a cheap ending. ★★
