Loss
Flair is amazing here, but the bigger story is that this is the yearbook debut of the RIC FLAIR PONYTAIL! Flair has some unkind words for AWA champ Larry Zbyszko.
PeteF3
This is the "George Washington hairdo" portion of Flair's career I've heard tell so much about. Flair promises to make Pillman an example as he returns to his hometown and also calls out Larry Zbyszko. I believe this was to lead to a unification match or at least a champion vs. champion match until Jim Herd decided that he didn't want to acknowledge another World title on WCW programming. soup23
Damn Flair was amazing here including the ponytail setting up feud with Zbysko.
Kevin Ridge
Flair has the hair all slick backed in a pony tail. Ric talking about his expensive suits and shoes. Save that money Nature Boy. He’s got some words for Larry Z.
Cox
Too bad that Flair/Zbyszko match never happened. Good promo out of Flair.
garretta
Another first-rate promo from the hometown boy. A Flair/Zbyszko feud wouldn't have benefitted anyone at this time. Both of them were too big as heels for one of them to turn, so they would have had a situation where the fans would have been chanting for Luger (or whoever the top AWA babyface was then) to run down and destroy them both, which would have made the match meaningless unless they actually planned to unify the belts. Since the AWA was so close to death, that wouldn't have meant much either except to have to pay Flair to come and defend the titles on how many ever cards the AWA would have had left. Zbyszko wasn't coming anywhere close to the NWA belt, Sting in the wings or not. What might have been interesting is not unifying the belts and having Larry come in as a close friend of the Horsemen who still claims the AWA title whether he defends it or not. That way, to get a shot at one champion, you have to beat another. I'm not sure about Larry as an actual Horseman; would Flair/Arn/Barry/Larry have been a better group than Flair/Arn/Barry/Sid? It would have been close, in my view.
Outsider
My next door neighbor at the time was a HUGE FLAIR MARK he was allot older than most kids in the hood maybe about 15 or 16 and he came outside with his hair in a ponytail talking about Flair and school me on Flair and I remember asking him about the best match and he said Steamboat vs Savage WM3 and at this time my mom didn't have a VCR so I couldn't rent it until I was 11 years old which was a few years later. But I always remembered flair with that Ponytail and I thought it was so cool at the time.
Johnny Sorrow
They actually were planning an AWA "invasion" angle, according to Larry.
drew wardlaw
It seemed like Flair was destined to be a face in 1990 regardless of the booking, but that ponytail is how you get heat, brother. That thing is greeeeasy.
GSR
Slick Ric with his hair all pulled back in a ponytail! Do you know what it’s like to ride around every day of your life in a limousine? To never have to drive a car on a highway? To fly in a private jet everywhere you go? Do you know what it’s like to have five or six beautiful women around you 24 hours a day? Do you know what it’s like to walk in the finest men’s stores in the world and buy $2,000 suits? $600 shoes? To wear role rolex watches? To style and profile? Well don’t ask Larry Zbyszko, ask Ric Flair the World Heavyweight champion! He says that he woke up the other night and heard Larry Zbyszko call his name on national television, but he’s telling it like it is, and if you ask anyone who knows anything about professional wrestling who the World Heavyweight champion is, it’s automatic, it’s Ric Flair! Next Saturday night it’s Twin Wars and the triumphant return of Ric Flair to the Twin Cities. Brian Pillman just happens to be the candidate for torture, because when he comes home to his home town, he’s going to make an example out of anyone that stands in his way. And when he’s beaten him, if Larry Zbyszko happens to be standing in the corner of the hallway, walk that aisle and he’ll beat him just like he beat Brian Pillman. Really good promo from Flair and much better than the previous one he did with Woman hyping Twin Wars and his match against Pillman. This also hints at a potential match with Zbyszko down the line so I wonder if that was something that was being considered?
dawho5
Flair's ponytail is incredible. Great promo too, but that ponytail....
