Do you think they'll ever bother to put up the rest of the World Class episodes?

I understand the random episodes missing here and there over the years are probably gone.

But I am meaning the last 35 or so episodes before USWA takes over from 88 and 89 that haven't been posted.

I think there's some debate on who owns those 88-89 eps since it gets tied in to the whole "who owns the USWA footage" mess.

Also the official relaunch is going to happen this week, they sent out an email saying everyone's going to have to relog in once it switches (since they are changing the entire platform everything runs on).

So I got the update on my phone and tablet so far, and it's different for sure. Searching seems improved, not sure if the new categories are a mess or my brain is still looking for the older ones, so I suppose I'll give it some time to adjust.

Well, they've removed episode numbers and the start next episode automatically feature, so binging stuff from 1984 is going to take a lot more remembering dates on my part!

The Hidden Gems section appears to be missing, and I've seen other sections mentioned as missing by people on Twitter but haven't researched them myself.

Otherwise, it looks nice, and on the World Class episodes I've watched on my phone, they now have points in the episode you can jump too, which they didn't have before, at least on the mobile platform.

One other thing I've noticed that will only effect mobile users is that you can't just leave it sitting paused anymore. Before I could walk away for however long and come back and it would still be paused, now my phone will go to a black screen, and when I press to turn the screen back on, the Network has to load and then my show starts playing automatically.

Did my watchlist and "continue watching" folders completely disappear?  I haven't had any time to look through the new interface but immediately noticed those were gone.

Here's what I think might've happened: When you go back into the app (I've got mine on my Roku), it will look like you are "in," but when you actually go to select a show, it will ask you to sign in. After signing in, your Watchlist and Continue Watching lists should appear on the Home screen.

I had heard that every current subscriber had to re-sign in, so I was surprised when I went into the app and I didn't need to. Then, when I tried to watch something, I realized I was locked out. I'm guessing this is because, from what I heard, there is now going to be a free tier so, for those users, they won't even need to sign it at all.

EDIT - I've never used the Watchlist as I couldn't seem to get it to work right, but I was glad my Continue Watching was still there.

I logged in on PS4 but didn't see my wachlist or continue watching this morning.  Hopefully find it later.

I hope it's just things they need to work out because on my PS4 Pro just trying to scroll to find an episode it chugs and chugs and chugs.  Used to scroll way faster than this.  Also I'm hoping they get the Vault/Hidden Gems back up.  And I can't get any video to load on my PC at all?  But at least I can watch stuff on my PS4.  Also the way you fast forward stuff is a lot sketchier/slower than it used to be.

A lot of this is stuff you'd want to test beforehand but who am I to say I guess.

Well shit, I just got home to discover that the app on my television no longer works at all after this update.

Apparently LG TV's have to be 2017 models or newer to support the new version, and I of course got mine in 2016.

So now I have to find a way to watch stuff on the big screen.

The Firestick App has always been solid for me and they’re a pretty useful device for other services for their price.

Up to August 1984 in Mid-Atlantic, and they are really pushing the upcoming debuts of Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda in the area as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Funny thing,  two months later they'd be teaming in the WWF. It would be interesting to know what plans they had for them in JCP.

I watched WWF Summerslam from 1994 the other night. I didn't remember the show at all. I do vaguely remember the build-up on TV of Undertaker Vs. Undertaker.

I gotta tell ya though, that Owen Hart Vs. Bret Hart cage match was money. It was better than their Wrestlemania X match in my opinion. I can't believe I didn't remember that match. Truth be told, I don't think I had ever seen that match before. It was really good. They told a great story. The way they both struggled to get out of the cage & stop the other from escaping was a breath a fresh air. Even without any real violence or blood or anything, that was just great pro-wrestling. Post match angle was fun too.

So apparently there was some talent exchange with WCCW and Mid South in 1985, as Kerry Von Erich shows up (and puts over Mid South as the best wrestling) then Chris Adams shows up the next week with the American Heavyweight title (WCCW's top title at the time).

The April 13th 1985 Mid South episode kicks off with an epic Bill Watts rant on the then-recent Wrestlemania and how Vince McMahon is taking credit for popularizing wrestling and having celebrities, rattling off all the celebrities that go to shows all around the country because they're fans and "not because they were paid to be there". Plus how having an actor pretending to be a wrestler and Mean Gene main eventing a show in Minneapolis (which he did) is 'baloney" and you'll never see that on his show.

Interesting news from the WWE Network News site mailbag:

Quote

Has there been any further news on the WWC tape library since WWE purchased it? In regards to what condition it is in, or if WWE plans to use it any capacity in the near future?

As luck would have it, yes there is. For those unaware, back in November last year, news broke that WWE had acquired the video library of World Wrestling Council (WWC) of Puerto Rico. One major concern was that the footage was severely damaged by a hurricane that had then-recently happened in the area. Unfortunately, we were told a good few months ago that this was indeed the case and the issues were so extensive that a lot of the acquired tapes were sent to an outside specialist. However, there is a positive. According to a source, WWE ended up receiving a lot more footage than expected, including “a ton” of unmarked film reels. So the impression we were given at the time was that even if a significant chunk is deemed unsalvageable, the larger haul means that a good chunk would hopefully still survive.

It’s impossible to say regarding the near future, but I will say that if footage from WWC does surface on WWE Network in the coming months, I’d say it’s highly likely to appear in Hidden Gems or via documentary clips first and not as a “classic content” batch of full episodes.

So while it sucks that it appears a good chunk was damaged, the fact that they could save a lot more than was expected is an excellent sign for the future.
