Cross Face Chicken Wing
Did WWE coin the phrase "Reality Era?" Or did that annoying Grantland writer come up with it and WWE ran with it because "OMG WE GOT PRESS ON ESPN!!!!" ?
El McKell
Grantland guy said it before way WWE started using it

Indikator
Would you prefer "Social Media Era" or even "T&T (Twitter and Tout) Era" ?
WashingtonFB
I actually remember Punk coining it first on Bill Simmons podcast.

Log
The Tout Era will have a seventeen-part documentary on the network in 2030.
Zoo Enthusiast
It's a Shoemaker invention, or at least he is the one that most heavily pushed it. I don't think many people actually use it in non-mocking tones, though.
Petey
Would you prefer "Social Media Era" or even "T&T (Twitter and Tout) Era" ? T&T Era for sure. One more dig at WCW.
Jmare007
I actually remember Punk coining it first on Bill Simmons podcast. Yup. After that Shoemaker went all in with the concept and ran it to the fucking ground for like 2 years.
funkdoc
yea bill simmons is a master of the forced narrative, and that carries over to a lot of others on his site
Superstar Sleeze
In defense of Bill, I always thought he was in on the joke of his forced narratives and they were supposed to be cute and funny. Then he hired a bunch of self-serious clones that push these awful narratives with none of the levity. The fact that HHH uses the Reality Era is just so eye-ball roll inducing. He must be trolling. The PG era is probably what will stick to this past decade, but I prefer the Cena era personally.

BBscout
Reality Era never happened. What examples are there to reflect it besides the Punk promo and maybe the Brock-Cena brawl where he busted him open and they did the Brock promo saying 'This is real.' It went from PG era to the Part-Timer era.
BBscout
It felt like an ROH/Super-Indy style era coming with the RAW after WM30 with Bryan/Shield standing tall and what looked like Cesaro being built in the months prior. Thought they were finally going to run highlight those heavy "workrate" matches on top. Brock like the Morishima in it all. I always felt like WWE would evolve into that style for some short period similar to the 90s with ECW and Attitude Era. Punk not being there for it would have been ironic. There is still a hint of it with NXT so who knows.
artDDP
Zack Ryder had to wear a neck brace everywhere to sell his injuries from Kane tossing him off the stage but they can't talk as if wins and losses matter on their own TV shows. "Reality Era" my ass.
Zenjo
Calling this folder 'The Reality Era' is so hilariously asinine it cracks me up every time I see it.
Bierschwale
Reality Era never happened. What examples are there to reflect it besides the Punk promo and maybe the Brock-Cena brawl where he busted him open and they did the Brock promo saying 'This is real.' Yeah, HHH ingrained it in that interview with Cole on RAW before the match with Bryan at WM. But in that context it didn't really mean anything for a "Reality Era" itself. He used it to just say that he was going to shut up the fans and prove that they didn't have any power to change WWE after he defeated DB. It was pretty far from Austin just saying "ALRIGHT, KAYFABE'S DEAD" or whatever actually is supposed to be part of the "Reality Era". Is it fourth wall-ish? Yeah, but it was all 100% natural and in-character.
