Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and Superstar Graham.

Joe McHugh: Promoted by Phil Zacko. Supervised by the State Athletic Commission, the honourable JJ Benz Chairman. And Francis Walker is the Executive Secretary. And the officials assigned: Deputy Commission Peter Lash. The doctor in attendance at ringside, Dr George Zahorian. The timekeeper at the bell: Mike Griffin. The referees for this hour of wrestling: Billy Capouto, Alberto Roman, Dick Woehrle. And my name is …. Jooeeeeeeeeee McHugh!

SD Jones vs. Tony Colon
Match: Jones defeats Colon after 6:09 with an elbow drop.
Quotation(s) from announcers: (Graham) “I always liked that Special Delivery Jones, Monsoon, brother” (Gorilla) “SD Jones is one of the nicest guys here in the World Wrestling Federation” (Graham) “Hey, but you know Gorilla, sometimes it ain’t always the nice guys who get ahead, you know what I’m saying?”

Victor Rivera vs. Steve King
Match: Rivera wins in 3:50 after a drop kick.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Graham) “Hey Monsoon, has Steve King ever won a match?” (Gorilla) “I believe he does have some victories to his name, Superstar” (Graham) “Oh yeah? Who’d he beat?” (Gorilla) “Do I look like Howard Finkel to you?!” (Graham) “Jeez, I’m only asking …” (Gorilla) “Well now you mention it, I believe I saw him beat Jose Estrada one time in Philadelphia. Maybe in 1978” (Graham) “That was a great year, Gorilla Monsoon. Do you remember who was champion in 1978?” (Monsoon) “How could I forget …”

Video highlight reel of Philadelphia Spectrum show, including clips of Steamboat vs. Savage, Briscos vs. Hansen / Brody, Backlund vs. Murdoch and Bockwinkel vs. Inoki. Runs about 15:00.

Bret Hart vs. Swede Hanson

Match: Hart makes Hanson submit to the sharpshooter in 12:44. The match was hard fought. Hanson ambushed Hart to start and was in control for the first 4-5 minutes, but Hart was able to transition with a well-time drop toehold.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Gorilla) “I call this man, ‘The Excellence of Execution’, because he executes every move perfectly” (Graham) “He is one of the brightest things in the WWF, that’s for sure, brother. … Don’t count out Swede Hanson though, his name was once feared all around the country” (Gorilla) “Oh the Hitman! Bret Hart with an impressive victory here on WWF challenge!”

Bobby Eaton vs. Dominic Denucci

Match: Eaton defeats Denucci in 5:44 with an inside cradle. Denucci was slow in this match and Eaton proved too quick for him. He fell to the inside cradle after going for an airplane spin, but Eaton slipped down behind him for the pin.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Gorilla): “It’s not Dominic’s day today. Bobby Eaton is going up, and maybe Denucci’s best days are behind him” (Graham) “Do you know he had several shots against me for the WWF title?” (Gorilla) “I hope you wrestled him for longer than 10 seconds, unlike Nick Bockwinkel …” (Graham) “Dominic was a tough competitor, the fans still love him.”

Ricky Steamboat © vs. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams

Match: Steamboat pins Williams after a superplex and a frog splash from the top rope in 12:00. Williams gave Steamboat two gorillia press slams, a running powerslam and the Oklahoma Stampede during this match, but Steamer came back with fire and intensity for the win.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Graham) “I think I say this every time I see him, but Ricky Steamboat might just be the best wrestler I’ve ever seen” (Gorilla) “I think you have to start asking how long it is until he starts thinking about swapping that Intercontinental title for the WWF title.” (Graham) “This Dr. Death has got real power, Gorilla, we could be seeing an upset here, brothers.” (Gorilla) “Ricky Steamboat! Steamboat now, SUPERPLEX! He’s going to the top rope. Look at him fly! And forget about it!” (Graham) “That right there is the man to beat in wrestling today, Monsoon. If I was Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan, I’d be keeping a close eye on him (Gorilla) “Well that’s exactly what Macho Man Randy Savage will be doing next Tuesday in Boston …”

Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura

Vince: It’s WWF SUPPPPERRSTARRS! Yes, I’m Vince McMahon and I’m here with the one and only Jesse “the Body” Ventura!

Jesse: You’re excitable tonight McMahon …

Vince: We’ve got one whale of a show in store you tonight.

Jesse: And I’m ready to share a special feature on the manager of the WWF Champion, Bobby Heenan.

Vince: What is it this time?

Jesse: You’ll have to wait and see McMahon, I’m just glad I ain’t Bob Backlund.

Vince: Without further ado, let’s get to the first match-up ladies and gentlemen.

Arn Anderson and Ole Anderson vs. Jack Carson and Jack Armstrong
Arn and Ole are accompanied to the ring by Gene and Lars
Match: The Andersons destroy Carson and Armstrong in 3:43 by annihilating Armstrong’s shoulder, which may have been separated.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Jesse) “The Minnesota Wrecking Crew! Yes, and I have to say that Minessota is very proud to have them. Arn Anderson might be my favourite wrestler, McMahon. But I like all of them.” (Vince) “You would … “ (Jesse) “Look at this McMahon, Arn and Ole going to work with laser precision. They have a gameplan, they follow that gameplan. It’s like watching two artists go to work, artists in destruction.” (Vince) “They’ve clearly beaten the man, why don’t they pin him. Is that a good plan is it Jesse?” (Jesse) “The Andersons can end the match whenever they want” (Vince) “Jack Armstrong might never wrestle another match …” (Jesse) “Yeah, they are doing him a favour …”

Video highlight reel of Philadelphia Spectrum show, including clips of Steamboat vs. Savage, Briscos vs. Hansen / Brody, Backlund vs. Murdoch and Bockwinkel vs. Inoki. Runs about 15:00.

Jesse is in his “journalist” outfit again, but this time backstage.

Jesse: I have gotten top secret behind-the-scenes access, to the most premier dressing room in the world of wrestling. I’m going to the headquarters of Bobby Heenan and the WWF Champion Nick Bockwinkel.

Bobby Heenan and Nick Bockwinkel are sitting in their dressing room, Blackjack Lanza is in the background sleeping under a cowboy hat. The WWF title is sitting in front of a mirror surrounded by lights, in the manner of old-school broadway. Heenan and Bockwinkel are huddled together. They startle when Jesse walks in.

Jesse: Hey, Bobby, I’m are you ready.

Heenan looks shiftily around.

Heenan: Yes, yes, Jesse, come in my friend.

Jesse: What are you watching there?

Heenan: Oh nothing, nothing.

Jesse tries to peer over to see what’s on the screen. Bockwinkel leans over so that he can’t see the screen.

Heenan: It’s top top secret preparation. Mr. Bockwinkel is the most scientific wrestler in the world. And that requires research on all his opponents. He knows every single move that every single wrestler can do.

Jesse: I understand, I would not want to interrupt that work.

Heenan: Well let me show you something else.

Bockwinkel presses “eject” on the video and puts in another tape.

Bockwinkel: I think you’ll enjoy this Ventura.

Jesse: Let’s take a look …

As he does, we are treated to a highlight reel of Dick Murdoch in Japan and Ted DiBiase in Mid-South Wrestling. Footage courtesy of those promotions. We see clips of Murdoch vs. Abdullah the Butcher in a bloody encounter and DiBiase beating up El Bracero and Steve O.

Heenan: So you see Jesse, Bob Backlund has no chance, NONE of ever facing this man right here for the WWF title.

Bockwinkel: Backlund really is a blockheaded imbecile. He thinks that just because he held that title, he deserves to step into the ring again against me. He doesn’t understand that in this world, there is such a thing as hierarchy, such a thing as a pecking order. With me at the very top.
Jesse: But it’s true isn’t it, that he’s technically getting a title shot by the Tuesday, September 6th?

Heenan: Well, yeah, it’s true, but there’s a very big “IF”, Jesse.

Bockwinkel: A very big “if”.

Jesse: And what’s that?

Bockwinkel: It’s IF Mr. Backlund is still with the company.

Heenan: Because you see, I’ve been talking to my lawyers again. And they’ve been working with the office of Mr. Shinma. And we inserted an IF clause into Backlund’s contracts, the contracts HE SIGNED when he agreed to take on Murdoch and DiBiase in one vs. one matches.

Bockwinkel puts on his glasses and picks up a piece of paper and reads, in an official voice.

Bockwinkel: “If … “ ahem. “IF, Bob Backlund loses any match against Dick Murdoch or Ted DiBiase by pinfall or submission …”

Heenan: Mr. Shinma did insist on that part …

Bockwinkel: “He will not only lose the match, but will have to leave the COMPANY of the World Wrestling Federation”

Bockwinkel and Heenan start laughing to themselves. Jesse cannot hide how impressed he is.

Heenan: And just to make sure, we know that at least one of Backlund’s matches against Murdoch and against DiBiase will be in a CAGE. With special rules: there is no escaping over the top or through the door. The winner can be by submission or pinfall only.

Bockwinkel: The plan is fullproof. Nothing can go wrong.

Jesse: Ha ha! You gentlemen are the smartest men in wrestling, I’ve said it before. Well, I will leave you to your research. Thank you so much, for this latest exclusive SCOOP. This is Jesse Ventura, signing off, over to you Vince McMahon.

Heenan and Bockwinkel go back to the screen. Heenan points to something as Bockwinkel strokes his chin and nods knowingly.

Tommy Rogers vs. “The Duke of Dorchester” Pete Doherty

Match: Rogers pinned Doherty after a back suplex in 6:57.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Jesse) “Well McMahon, what do you think of my exclusive?” (Vince) “I think if there’s any justice in this world that no matter how much the cards are stacked against him, Bob Backlund will prevail” (Jesse) “You give him ANY chance against Murdoch or DiBiase? These are hardened veterans, McMahon, not only some of the best wrestlers in the world, but two of the deadliest. And DiBiase is specialised in the cage match!” (Vince) “Well, I don’t know about that. What I know is that we’ve seen Bob Backlund win many cage matches.” (Jesse) “Yeah, when he can just walk straight through that door, but there’s no escape when he has to face Murdoch in two weeks. We don’t even need to talk about DiBiase, he won’t beat Murdoch” (Vince) “They’ve counted Backlund out before, and he’s proven a lot of people wrong” (Jesse) “Why don’t you concentrate on the action McMahon?! You’re paid to call this action not speculate on the outcomes of future matches. Be a professional” (Vince) “Well YOU brought it up” (Jesse) “I’m not the one paid to call the action, you do your job” (Vince) “You’re impossible!” (Jesse) “Beautiful back suplex by Rogers. And that’s a … 1, 2. He got him …. See, McMahon, if you’re not going to call the action, I guess I’ll have to.” (Vince) “Stop it Jesse!” (Jesse) “You’re in a very sour mood tonight, McMahon”

Bob Backlund vs. Mr. Fuji

Match: Backlund destroys Mr. Fuji in 1:34 after an atomic piledriver and a massive atomic drop. Backlund wastes no time and gives Fuji a suplex, two huge arm drags, a pile driver and an atomic drop before Fuji can even get his robe off.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Jesse) “Oh you call that fair? That’s your hero McMahon!” (Vince) “Bob Backlund! He hasn’t lost a thing! Don’t ever count this man out!” (Jesse) “Fuji wasn’t even ready McMahon, you condone that?” (Vince) “Backlund! He’s so determined, never count him out!”

Some humongous cards with some great lineups out of the WWF. So many gems hidden in there and for the time, they would be quite the entertainment. I also like the style in which you do the shows, especially the quotations. You are also establishing one of my favorite characters right now with Bobby Heenan. He has got some control and a maniacal view on his power which is always entertaining. I currently have you 4th in my power rankings due to the detail and superb shows you are putting out. The way you use the outsiders is great and I hope that those relationships don't turn hazardous if you try to go national.

Those are some fun looking cards, but do they feature unlisted jobber matches or does the WWF put on 2 1 hour shows with different guys on back to back nights? Or is this the same show each night, but you've split the results into 2 halves for the sake of being exciting?

WWF at Boston Garden

August 16th, 1983

The host is Gorilla Monsoon.

Monsoon: Hello everyone, this is Gorilla Monsoon from the Boston Garden, it’s a-happening! Jammed packed to the rafters here. We’ve got a great line up for you tonight, FOUR championships defended right here in Boston. We’ve got the Inter … Wait … what the …

Bobby Heenan casually walks down the aisle. He stops to look at some fans, disregards them, continues. He walks straight to the commentary booth and sits down next to Monsoon.

Monsoon: What is going on here? I’ll get security to …

Heenan: Will you knock it off, I’m about as thrilled with this as you are.

Monsoon: Well what is this?

Heenan: I’m fulfilling a contractual obligation.

Monsoon: A contractual what?

Heenan: It’s a long story, Monsoon, but when I was negotiating with Mr. Shinma, I pulled a few strings here, pulled a few strings there …

Monsoon: And?

Heenan: Well, once a month I have to sit in on these Boston Garden shows and talk to an ignoramus like you for two or three hours …

Moonson: Will you stop! Get out of here, you have got to be kidding me.

Heenan: I’m hating this as much as you. I mean, I’m the one who has to SMELL you.

Monsoon: Do you think I’ve forgotten what you and Nick Bockwinkel did to me last month? In this very building? I’m in pain every single day. My leg still hasn’t healed. Now I’m warning you Heenan, you better not try anything or I’ll have you canned. You understand?

Heenan: What did you have for dinner? Was it Mexican? I mean do you always smell like this?

Monsoon: Oh give me break, I have to put up with this guy?

Heenan: And where’s the air conditioning? I can’t work in these conditions.

Monsoon: Over to Gary Michael Cappetta fans …

Heenan: Gary Michael who?

Monsoon: Sheesh …

Gary Michael Cappetta introduces the first match.

Andre the Giant and SD Jones vs. Arn and Ole Anderson

Lars and Gene Anderson were at ringside.

Match: Andre the Giant and SD Jones won the match in 7:09 by DQ after outside interference from Lars and Gene. During the match, Gene Anderson gave SD Jones a piledriver outside the ring knocking him out cold in the opening moments. Arn and Ole then worked two vs. one against Andre, who was still able to get the better of them, until Gene and Lars rushed the ring, leaving a four on one situation. After the referee called for the bell, Andre battled on, but was overwhelmed after Ole smashed him in the back with a chair. Andre was then “hung, drawn and quartered” by the Andersons. Eventually, The Animals (George Steele and Luke Graham) came out to chase the Andersons off, but Andre was in significant pain and had to be helped out of the ring. SD Jones is carried out by a stretcher.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Gorilla) “Lars and Gene should not be out here, what business do they have at ringside?” (Heenan) “They have every right to be out here. It’s a family business” (Gorilla) “Look at this, no! Gene Anderson has … NO! SD Jones could be … that sort of thing can end a career Brain!” (Heenan) “This is real smart by The Andersons, now Andre has to face two men alone. Jones, you shoulda looked where you were going dummy” (Gorilla) “Look at this now … they can’t be .. no, Andre … oh …” (Heenan) “Hung, drawn and quartered. I’ve never seen anything like this in all my life.” (Gorilla) “Well they’ve made the Giant mad now, I wouldn’t like to be any one of the Andersons in the morning! Fans, we’re going to keep you updated on the condition of SD Jones, we hope this isn’t a bad one.”

Ricky Steamboat © vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage for the WWF Intercontinental Championship

Match: Randy Savage defeated Ricky Steamboat after the referee stopped the match for excessive bleeding at 18:30. The match was worked at a very fast pace. Steamboat dominated to start, but Savage gained control after Steamboat missed a splash from the top rope. He dumped Steamboat outside the ring and repeatedly rammed his head into the post and railings causing him to start bleeding profusely. Back in the ring, things started to get very heated with fierce chops from Steamboat, and manic punches from Savage, who also hit two snap suplexes. The match ended as Steamboat was laying prone and Savage was on the top rope looking to hit an elbow drop. As the referee stopped the match Savage leapt but Steamboat rolled out of the way.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Gorilla) “I say this every time I see him Brain, but Ricky Steamboat might just be the best wrestler I’ve ever seen” (Heenan) “You’re being very insulting to Mr. Bockwinkel. And … well, after what he did to your leg, I would be careful …” (Monsoon) “Are you threatening me weasel?! What did you say? (Heenan) “Uh uh, nothing. I was saying that if Ricky Steamboat was so good why doesn’t he hold the WWF title?” (Gorilla) “Well maybe soon he will” (Heenan) “He looks like he’s got his hands very full with Randy Savage” (Gorilla) “This has been a tremendous match up, and yes, the Macho Man is vicious!” (Heenan) “This is good strategy by Savage, keep Steamboat grounded” (Gorilla) “Both of these men are high flying specialists, Savage is just as deadly coming off the top rope as Steamboat is” (Heenan) “I don’t like Ricky Steamboat” (Gorilla) “How can you not like Ricky Steamboat?” (Heenan) “I heard he’s cheap. He got a cab here tonight and left without paying the driver. He never tips in restaurants. He’s been wearing the same socks for two years” (Gorilla) “Will you stop!” (Heenan) “And he’s always late on his rent” (Gorilla) “He is not!” (Heenan) “Oh yeah, that’s right, he lives with his mom” (Gorilla) “SUPLEX and a beauty! The champion in trouble here, Savage is taking it to him” (Heenan) “Come on Savage! Oh, did I say that out loud …”

Jack and Jerry Brisco © vs. Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody for the WWF Tag Team Championship

Match: The Briscos defeated Hansen and Brody by count out after 12:00. The match started in a very heated way with Hansen and Brody ambushing the Briscos from the get go. They isolated Jack and worked his back. Jack was able to tag Jerry in who hit several dropkicks, but was cut off by Brody. However, the legal man was Stan Hansen, who got embroiled in a brawl outside with Jack. Brody hit a running kneedrop on Jerry and went to cover him, but the ref knew he wasn’t the legal man and counted out Hansen instead.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Heenan) “I give this one to Hansen and Brody, just look at the size, power and strength of these two.” (Gorilla) “These two teams have matched up before, and it was close” (Heenan) “Of course, the Briscos aren’t too bright, Monsoon” (Gorilla) “They both went to college” (Heenan) “Yeah, but in Oklahoma! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! (Gorilla) “The comments of Bobby Heenan do not reflect those of the World Wrestling Federation …” (Heenan) “Hey referee!! Count the man dummy! Brody has him pinned!” (Gorilla) “The legal man is Hansen! Fantastic piece of refereeing by Mario Savoldi!” (Heenan) “Mario Ravioli” (Gorilla) “It’s gonna be a long night …”

Harley Race © vs. Mil Mascaras for the NWA World Heavyweight Title

Match: The match ends in a draw after 11:22 when both men were counted out. During the match, Mascaras generally dominated the action and worked an abdominal stretch on Race for some time. Race eventually gouged Mascaras in the face, and hit a gutwrench suplex before dumping him out of the ring. He went to post Mascaras, but was blocked, ended up getting rammed into the post himself, Mascaras pushed Race with such velocity that he hit his head on the post too, and both men were knocked out outside the ring.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Gorilla) “The NWA champion, Harley Race. A great competitor.” (Heenan) Hey Monsoon, did you know that before Mil Mascaras became a wrestler, he wanted to be a fireman?” (Gorilla) “He did?” (Heenan) “Yeah, he went in for the first day of training but they turned him down cos he couldn’t tell the difference between jose and hose b! Ha ha ha ha ha! (Gorilla) “Will you stop!” (Heenan) “Hose A and Hose B! I crack myself up!” (Gorilla)

There is an interval here. When we return, Bobby Heenan has left the commentary booth to resume his managerial duties.

Bob Backlund vs. Dick Murdoch

Murdoch was accompanied to the ring by Bobby Heenan, Nick Bockwinkel and Blackjack Lanza.

Match: Bob Backlund defeated Dick Murdoch by DQ in 15:12 after Murdoch was caught using a pair of brass knucks. During the match, Backlund dominated Murdoch for large portions, working over his arm with his signature “row row” arm wrenches. He also hit his atomic piledriver. Murdoch was wobbly legged and punching at thin air when Heenan jumped up on the apron distracting Backlund who tried to grab him. Heenan ran and Backlund chased, which allowed Bockwinkel time to throw a pair of brass knucks to Murdoch. Heenan ran and hid behind Lanza, who tried to punch Backlund. Backlund blocked it and sent Lanza down instead before getting back in the ring. But Murdoch laid him out with the knucks. As he went for the cover, the referee spotted it and called for the bell. Immediately, Heenan and Bockwinkel hit the ring and started stomping and kicking Backlund. Murdoch hit multiple knee drops and Backlund was convulsing with pain. Soon, Ricky Steamboat, Jack and Jerry Brisco and Junkyard Dog all ran in. Bockwinkel, Heenan and Murdoch all tried to run away, but as they were doing so, JYD grabbed Heenan by the hair. Bockwinkel and Murdoch had already bailed, and Heenan was surrounded. The crowd erupted as JYD headbutted Heenan, the impact seemed to hit so hard that Heenan appeared to bounce from the mat to over the top rope and out to the apron. He was knocked out cold. As Steamboat and the Briscos tried to revive Backlund, JYD waved his chain and the crowd cheered crazily.

Quotation(s) from announcer: “Look at that no good weasel and his cronies coming out here. This is ridiculous, it’s basically four people against one. What is the Champion Nick Bockwinkel doing out here? What is Lanza doing here?” “Backlund! The former champion really taking it to Murdoch!” “Oh this is … oh no, how many times can we see this?” “Backlund should not be chasing after that weasel, the man he needs to beat is in the ring.” “Brass knucks! No!!” “Mario Salvoldi with another brilliant call. He spotted those knucks” “What is this now? Someone call security, Backlund is defenceless!” “The Junkyard Dog!!! All the way from New Orleans! You may have read about this guy, fans, he’s here in Boston!” “JYD now! He’s got Heenan! And YES!! YES!! Getting everything he deserves and more”

After the match has died down Cappetta gets into the ring ready to announce the final match, but JYD beckons him over. He’s a little out of breath.

JYD: Bob Backlun’, Bob Backlun’, I jus’ wanna say in front o’ all these fans brotha, that the DAWG has got ya back! I Is comin’ all the way up in here, from down south, you understan’ me brotha?! We know what is happenin’ up in here, you been seein’ it, and readin’ it, an’ … Nick Bockwinkel! Bobby Heenan! You cats better watch yo’ self. You cats better watch out cos … whoa whoa whao, A dawg been chompin’ on his bone … and your days you better be counting them daddy, cos they is numbered!

The crowd goes crazy. Heenan is still out cold at ring side. It is not clear where Bockwinkel is.

Gary Michael Cappetta: And his opponent, he is the WWF Heavyweight Champion. From Beverley Hills, California, weighing 241lbs … NICKKK BOCKWINKELLL.

Bockwinkel is nowhere to be seen. The crowd get restless and start jeering. Where is Bockwinkel? Cappetta looks at Savoldi who shrugs. JYD is in the middle of the ring jumping up and down ready for the match. Cappetta leaves the ring. Bockwinkel still isn’t there. The ref calls for the bell …

Nick Bockwinkel © vs. Junkyard Dog for the WWF Heavyweight Championship

Match: JYD stands around in the middle of the ring, shouting “Come on out Bockwinkel! Come on out!” The ref is bemused and starts counting Bockwinkel out. JYD stops him several times. After this goes on for some minutes, eventually the ref begins to count in earnest, “ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT” on the stroke of the eighth count, Bockwinkel slithers from UNDERNEATH the ring and quietly rolls into the ring behind JYD who is trying to remonstrate to the referee. The crowd are going wild, but JYD doesn’t turn around and Bockwinkel gets him in an inside cradle using a hand full of tights for additional leverage. And the ref counts, 1, 2, 3. The winner of the match in 4:34, Nick Bockwinkel.

Quotation(s) from announcers: “Nick Bockwinkel is a coward and a disgrace. He’s a disgrace to that title and to this sport.” “Where is he? Too scared to show his face again after what just happened? Is he embarrassed? Can’t he fact the Dog alone without that weasel lying there to help him?!” “Oh no! No! No! No! Not like this … Unbelievable!” “Someone has to stop this. I am not sure if I can take much more of these antics week after week!”

  • 2 weeks later...

One thing I didn't understand, did the Intercontinental Title change hands or not? I'm not sure how a blood loss stoppage wouldn't lead to a title change but it didn't seem like it did. I appreciate your realistic use of Mascaras. JYD's promo was something else.

WWF at Agricultural Hall in Allentown, PA (TV Taping for WWF Challenge)

Aug 17th, 1983

Bret Hart vs. Victor Rivera

Match: Hart wins in 7:50 with a sharpshooter. He dominated most of the match with Rivera only getting in token offense.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Gorilla) “I called this man, the excellence of execution, Superstar” (Graham) “You always did have a way with words Gorilla, brother. And this kid is surely going to be a big star some day”

Recap of events at Boston Garden, including clips of Steamboat vs. Savage, Briscos vs. Hansen and Brody, Backlund vs. Murdoch and JYD vs. Bockwinkel. Runs for 20:00

Dean Ho vs. "The Duke of Dorchester" Pete Doherty

Match: Ho pins The Goon in 9:22 after a karate palm thrust. This match was so slow it resembled a glacier drifting past the Titanic.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Gorilla) “What a night at the Boston Garden this past week. If you ask me Nick Bockwinkel should be stripped of the WWF title, because him and that weasel Bobby Heenan are giving everyone the run-a-round here. Junk Yard Dog just the latest in a long line of people they have swindled out of that title, Superstar” (Graham) “Well, Monsoon, I can’t condone their tactics, brother, but I know from experience that when you are that champion everyone wants a piece of you, and it’s by hook or by crook, brother. You know what I mean? You got to do what it takes to stay on top, and that’s why Nick Bockwinkel is the champion right now, whether we like or not.” (Gorilla) “Well I think it’s STINKS. Week after week now, we’ve been watching them two give poor Bobby Backlund the slip while cheating and hoodwinking every challenger Mr. Shinma has thrown at them. Not to mention the attacks on myself and Kal Rudman, who was in hospital for two weeks Superstar. Can you really say that was necessary?” (Graham) “Well some of their actions have sickened me to the pit of my stomach, and I’ll be the first one to say that none of that is necessary. But as a former champion, I can’t condemn a man for doing what he thinks is best for his own business.”

Dr. Death Steve Williams and Bobby Eaton vs. The Animals (George Steele and Crazy Luke Graham)

Match: Williams pins Steele in 10:33 after a splash. Williams and Eaton showed excellent teamwork in the body of this match-up. Steele and Graham did their usual confusion over tag rules.

Quotation(s) from announcers: “I tagged with Luke Graham many times over the years, Monsoon, he’s my brother, don’t you know brother?” “In all those times, Superstar, did you ever explain to him the rules of tag wrestling?” “He ain’t as dumb as he seems, Gorilla, although if you put him in there with George Steele and make him the brains out of the outfit, maybe it’s like uh … y’know contagious” “Steve Williams and Bobby Eaton with another impressive win here on Challenge!”

WWF at Agricultural Hall in Fieldhouse in Hamburg, PA (TV Taping for WWF Superstars)

Aug 18th, 1983

Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura

Vince: WWF SUPERSTARS!!!! YES LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. I’m Vince McMahon and with me as always, Jesse “The Body” Ventura!

Jesse is wearing a peacock feather in the side of a bandana and a leopard-skin jacket. The feather sticks 5 or 6 feet into the air. He’s also wearing a pair of shakes. Vince can barely look at him without cracking up.

Vince: And Jesse, might I say that you’re the picture of sartorial elegance tonight …

Jesse: McMahon, please, you’re going to be sarcastic about MY fashion sense? Mr. WWF Red Jacket? Mr. Always Wears the Same Boring Blazer? Why don’t you talk about something you have a clue about? I don’t know what subject that would be though, since it’s evident to me that you also have no clue about WRESTLING or anything else. You’re a joke a man!

Vince: A bit defensive aren’t we Jesse?

Jesse: Why don’t you get to the first match? As if it wasn’t painful enough to spend an hour in your company, I have to stand here and be insulted by you as well?

Vince (smiling): Let’s go to Howard Finkel.

Baron Mikel Scicluna vs. Tommy Rogers

Match: Scicluna wins with a handful of tights in 11:23. He used a hidden foreign object throughout, but the main body of the match saw him on the back foot, with Rogers dominating much of the action. The finish saw Rogers hit a flying crossbody, but his momentum brought Sciclina on top who then grabbed the tights in a fortuitous win.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Vince) “The Baron using a lot of … questionable tactics.” (Jesse) “No don’t you be questioning Baron Scicluna. He needs to do what it takes to win. What business is it of yours how he does it?” (Vince) “Well, he hasn’t exactly been having a lot of success with it lately …” (Jesse) “You leave the poor Baron alone. Look at THAT! Close fist from Tommy Rogers! That should be an instant disqualification McMahon!” (Vince) “So it’s alright when Baron Scicluna does it?” (Jesse) “The Baron makes sure the referee can’t see, there’s a difference!” (Vince) “It’s called cheating Jesse … (Jesse) “You’re so blinkered and biased McMahon, you’re impossible!” (Vince) “Rogers with the crossbody!!! One, two, and ohnowhat’s this. HEGOTHIM!” (Jesse) “AHA! NO! Baron Scicluna thinking quickly turns the cover over for the three count. That’s called being a veteran. That’s smart!” (Vince) “That’s lucky more like.”

Recap of events at Boston Garden, including clips of Steamboat vs. Savage, Briscos vs. Hansen and Brody, Backlund vs. Murdoch and JYD vs. Bockwinkel. Runs for 20:00

Ole Anderson vs. SD Jones

Match: Anderson wins by pinfall after a flying kneedrop from the top rope in 8:45. Anderson dominated for the most part, but Jones did mount a brief comeback to some murmurs from the crowd at around the 7-minute mark.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Vince) “So Jesse, I suppose he condone the actions of the WWF Champion, Nick Bockwinkel, and his manager, Bobby Heenan this past week at the Boston Garden?” (Jesse) “Well, the first thing I want to say McMahon, is that the match between Ricky ‘the Dragon’ Steamboat and Macho Man Randy Savage is one of the best I’ve ever seen. It was a real treat for the wrestling fans, y’know.” (Vince) “Yes, Jesse, it was a fine match, but what about this business with Bockwinkel and Heenan yet again? First they interfered in Backlund’s match with Dick Murdoch, giving him a terrible beating, and then they cheated the Junkyard Dog out of the title!” (Jesse) “McMahon, listen to yourself. Do you know what ‘naivete’ is? Do you know what that means?” (Vince) “Of course …” (Jesse) “Well that’s what you are. You’ve got to get real in this world. Bobby Heenan and Nick Bockwinkel are going to protect their business interests. That means doing what is takes.” (Vince) “How does using a pair of brass knucks on Bob Backlund represent that in any way? What business did Bockwinkel even have being out there when he was facing Murdoch? He had his own match to attend to.” (Jesse) “You don’t understand strategy McMahon. There’s tactics and then there’s strategy. Heenan and Bockwinkel are playing a long game of chess with Backlund and currently, he looks like he’s about to find himself CHECK MATED, AHA!” (Vince) “Ole Anderson there with an impressive win over SD Jones …”

Vince McMahon is with Jack Brisco and Jerry Brisco now

Vince: Gentlemen, you have fended off some very tough customers defending your WWF tag titles these past few weeks: Steve Williams and Bobby Eaton, The Andersons, Abdullah the Butcher and The Sheik, Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody. Next week at the Meadowlands you’ll be squaring off against a team with whom you have a lot of history, THE FUNKS. How do you prepare for a match like that against rivals who you know so well.

Jack: Well Vince, I want to tell you this. First of all, Dory Funk Jr, you know that wherever you are, wherever you go, you won’t be able to duck me. Bringing that lunatic brother of yours up here to New York, you think you’re going to be able to hide from me? You’ve been hiding from me since 1973 boy. And it doesn’t matter if it’s in a tag match with Jerry here, or in singles matches, but I’ve been waiting for that receipt for a decade. And you know what I’m talking about boy.

Jerry: The Funks. The Briscos. When you look up tagteam wrestling. When you look up Family Feud. When you WANNA KNOW THE MEANING OF HATRED. You see Brisco vs. Funk up in that headline. And Jack here is right: these Texas boys been duckin and cheatin us for as long as we been around. IT’S GONNA END. And we’re gonna end it right there in that squared circle.

Jack: JUNIOR, BOY, JUNIOR. You ain’t got no daddy makin’ excuses for ya in 1983. I’m break ya leg. You’re gonna feel why the figure four made me the world champion! You’re gonna know the meaning of pain. And New Jersey is a long way from Amarillo boy. You ain’t got nowhere to run. No daddy cry to.

Jerry: The Briscos never forget. Oklahoma has never forgotten. And by the time we’re through with you, Vince McMahon here and all of these fans in the WWF will never forget!!!

Vince: Well you heard it here, ladies and gentlemen, Jack and Jerry Brisco will defend their WWF Tag Team Championships against Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk on August 23rd at The Meadowlands, East Rutherford, New Jersey! Tickets still available! But be quick, because they are selling like hotcakes!

Ricky Steamboat © vs. Mr. Electricity Steve Regal for the WWF Intercontinental Championship

Match: Steamboat wins after a frogsplash in 8:44. Steamboat impressed with armdrags early on, until Regal went to the eyes and say in a chinlock during the middle portion of the match until Steamboat came back with a delayed vertical suplex and frogsplash from the top for three.

Quotation(s) from announcers: (Jesse) “I have to give credit where credit is due, Ricky Steamboat is very impressive. But I don’t see him beating the Macho Man at the Meadowlands next week” (Vince) “And as you heard in that explosive interview with The Briscos there fans, Tag team championships also on the line as they take on The Funks” (Jesse) “And McMahon, they are speaking the truth: you will never forget it when the Funks and the Briscos lock up in that squared circle!” (Vince) “MEADOWLANDS, AUGUST 23rd!”

"This match was so slow it resembled a glacier drifting past the Titanic." made me laugh out loud. Looking forward to the Briscos vs. Funks match. Maybe being half of the WWF Tag Team Champions will keep Funk out of going into retirement.

You MUST be trolling me with that Intercontinental title match though. Steve Regal is the drizzling shits and I have no idea what planet you're from if you think he's a qualified I.C. title contender and Ron Starr isn't.

WWF at The Meadowlands, East Rutherford, NJ

August 23rd, 1983

Your host is Gorilla Monsoon. Gary Michael Capetta with the introductions.

Gorilla: Jammed packed to the rafters here at The Meadowlands, we have a sell-out crowd for one LOADED event. It is a-happening. WWF Intercontinental Champion, Ricky Steamboat, takes on Macho Man Randy Savage once again. NWA World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race takes on the man of a thousand masks, Mil Mascaras. Bob Backlund faces Dick Murdoch in a loser-leaves-town CAGE MATCH, only pinfalls and submissions can win! WWF Heavyweight Champion, Nick Bockwinkel takes on The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes, who has set his heart on ending Bockwinkel’s reign of evil here. And in our special main event, WWF Tagteam Champions Jack and Jerry Brisco take on their oldest and most hated rivals THE FUNKS, Dory Funk Jr, and Terry Funk, it’s set to be a barnburner. It’s WWF at THE MEADOWLANDS. And now over to the world’s most dangerous announcer, Gary Michael Captetta!

Ricky Steamboat © vs. Macho Man Randy Savage for the WWF Intercontinental Championship

Match: The match ended in a no-contest with both men brawling to the back at the 15:00 mark. The match was worked at a phenomenal pace, with Steamboat hitting EIGHT arm drags in the early going, and Savage coming back with a flurry of suplexes and moves from the top rope. They both tumbled outside the ring when Savage was going for an elbow drop and Steamboat beat him down. He went for a superplex only for Savage to break free and throw Steamboat down to the outside. He dived from the top to the outside, and the two men brawled until they were both counted out.

Quotation from announcer: “These two have been lighting up the ring for weeks now, and this one looks set to run and run. Has Steamboat met his match in Randy Savage?”

Harley Race © vs. Mil Mascaras for the NWA World Heavyweight Title

Match: Mascaras defeated Race by count out, after Race accidentally head-butted the ring post in 16:40. This was a spirited match with both men using a variety of strikes and throws, a less technical match than their previous encounter.

Quotation from announcer: “Mil Mascaras, of course, famous around the world, and especially in Mexico. Harley Race a world-class competitor, who wears that title with pride.”

Bob Backlund vs. Dick Murdoch, Loser-leaves-town Cage Match

Cappetta: “And by order of WWF President Mr. Shinma, Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan have been barred from ringside!”

Match: Backlund made Murdoch submit in 17:55 with a sleeperhold after Murdoch had passed out through excessive blood and his arm dropped for a third time. This match was a very wild brawl, with both men taking multiple shots to the cage. At one point Murdoch gave Backlund THREE piledrivers in a row, but he wouldn’t stay down and Mudoch seemed demoralised. Backlund came back with real brutality and rammed Murdoch’s head repeatedly into the cage, and then punched him repeatedly in the face until it was a bloody mess. Blood was splattered all across the ring as Murdoch passed out.

Quotation from announcer: “This match has been a long time coming, and something has SNAPPED in Bob Backlund! Someone needs to stop this match before we have a police case on our hands here. This is legalised murder! Backlund is going to kill him! Bobby enough!! If Murdoch takes another punch to the face … SLEEPER!! And that’s it! Dick Murdoch is outta here, he’s history. But boy, did he take a beating here. BACKLUND, one step closer to Nick Bockwinkel”

INTERVAL as the ring is cleaned up and cage removed.

Nick Bockwinkel © vs. Dusty Rhodes for the WWF Heavyweight Championship

Bockwinkel is accompanied to the ring by Bobby Heenan

Match: Dusty Rhodes won by countout in 13:40 after Nick Bockwinkel picked up his title and left the arena. The match saw Dusty light up the crowd with bionic elbows, and his usual jiving antics. Bockwinkel was not able to get much offense in, and what he did execute, Dusty quickly countered or reversed. Bobby Heenan tried to interfere many times, but was ejected at 6:45 by referee Mario Savoldi. Soon after, Blackjack Lanza came running to ringside, but he too was evicted by Salvodi! After a nearfall, Bockwinkel bailed, grabbed his belt and left. Dusty was left in the ring shocked and appalled, and the crowd were incensed, booing loudly and throwing rubbish into the ring.

Quotations from announcer: “That no-good snake Heenan up to his old tricks … and he’s outta here. Referee says he’s gotta go and GOOD RIDDANCE!” “Who’s this now? That stooge, that creep Blackjack Lanza here to do Heenan’s bidding. Why can’t Bockwinkel fight fair?” “And ha, ha! Lanza is outta here too! Mario Salvoldi should win referee of the year for this if you ask me.” “Dusty Rhodes now! With a cover. One, two … and, almost. Almost! Bockwinkel, now, rolls out of the ring. And … oh are you kidding me? GIMME A BREAK! He’s leaving! Nooo. No. Referee no! Ah, of all the, he’s just left? There’s got to be some sort of injunction against this sort of thing, he’s bringing the belt into disrepute. All these fans here, Dusty Rhodes. This cannot and should not be allowed to contine!”

SECOND INTERVAL as trash is cleared from the ring.

Gorilla Monsoon is with Dory Funk Jr and Terry Funk

Gorilla: I’m standing here with the Funks, who are set to take on Jack and Jerry Brisco, the WWF Tag Team Champions, who had some very strong words for you two on Superstars this past weekend.

Terry: JACCCKKK. JERRYYYYYY. Do you feel it? Do you feeeeellll that? That sensation right now is called adrenaline. And it’s what you yella bellied egg-sucking dogs is feeling as ya CACKED YA PANTS the minute you found out that me and ol’ Junior were riding into town. Let me give you a little history lesson .We whooped ya down in Amarillo. We whooped ya in Florida. We whooped ya in Atlanta. And you come hiding up here and boys we’re gonna whoop ya again! We’re gonna get us some lassos and tie ya down and whoop whoop whoop, that’s the sound an INDIAN makes when he’s crying and hollering and wishing that his daddy had never met his mommy so that he was never born! Ya talk about the figure-four Jack Brisco. Do you remember the spinning toehold? Spinning toehold! The move I used to end your reign as the world champion! The move Junior here used to beat Gene Kiniski in 1969. The move you see in your nightmares. The move that keeps you up on all those lonely nights. When you’re looking in the mirror, when you’re looking at that fat Indian nose across your face, boy. All you can think about again and again. Spinning toe hold ! Spinning toe hold! NEW World Champion Terry Funk. NEW TAG TEAM champions Dory Funk Jr and Terry Funk. And when the kids in the crowd and crying their eyes out and the girls have lost their voices cos they can’t scream any more and the men are all in jail because they’ve tried to break down the barriers to get at me and Junior. And your lying in a puddle of your own blood. What are you going do Jack and Jerry? What are going do when The Funks walk out of here and prove to THE WORLD that there’s only one family in wrestling, ONE set of brothers in wrestling to end em all!

Gorilla: Dory?

Dory: Let’s go Terry.

Jack and Jerry Brisco © vs. Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk for the WWF Tag Team Championship

Match: The Funks won the match after Jack Brisco made Terry Funk submit with the figure-four leglock but would not release the hold after 24:55. Early on, Terry Funk jawed something to Jack Brisco that seemed to put him over the edge. The match saw the Briscos gain advantage early working over Terry Funk. Fireman carry take over by Jack. Suplex. Jerry Brisco in with a dropkick and backbreaker. They worked over Terry’s back for several minutes. Eventually he hit a tag to Dory who came in with European uppercuts. He managed to isolate Jerry and hit a big delayed butterfly suplex. Terry had recovered by this point and they settled into a face in peril sequence, cutting the ring off with frequent tags in and out working over Jerry with a mixture of matwork and throws, they started to focus on the leg by alternating Indian deathlocks, and teased the spinning toehold several times. Eventually Dory hit the spinning toehold, but Jack came in to break it. Terry erupted in anger at this and dived at Jack with a brutal assault of jabs. The action went outside and Terry used a chair on Jack and then two on Jerry knocking him out. Back in the ring, and Jack Brisco, at this point bleeding from the chairshot, was a house of fire and levelled Terry with a shinbreaker. Dory came in to break up the momentum, and Brisco punched him clean in the face. The referee appeared to lose control as the Funks doubled teamed Jack with a double shoulder charge. Jack came back with a block shot on both Funks however taking out their legs. Jerry recovered outside the ring and got on the apron which distracted the ref. As his back was turned Terry charged into the ref, knocking him out and sending Jerry crashing back to the outside. Dory had a chair now and tried to hit Jack with it, who blocked the chair shot and gave him one back, sending Dory crashing to the outside. Terry tried to attack Jack from behind but got a chairshot too. And now Jack used the chair to stab and Terry’s leg, which Terry sold with agony and screams of pain. The ref was still out. Jack used a variety of kneedrops and chair shots on Terry’s leg before applying the figure-four. The ref came too and Terry submitted. But Jack would not let go, shouting in anger as Terry screamed in pain. “LET GO! LET GOoooo” Jack applied the hold even more intensely. Referees and officials streamed out from the back to try to get him off. Dory recovered and tried to get him off, but Jerry cut him off and the two of them brawled. Terry continued to scream in pain. “LET GO DAMMN YOU!” Jack wrenched and wenched the figure-four, it was as if Terry’s knee might come out of its socket. Eventually, he let go, and Terry writhed around in agony in the middle of the ring. EMTs had to come out with a stretcher to carry Terry away, and Dory looked on with a mixture of shock and anger. He went for Jack several times only for security and various referees to hold him back. Dory punched two referees out. And threw a security guard out of the ring. But there were two many of them. Jack Brisco, face bloodied, and sweating with sheer aggression, put his tag belt over his shoulder and tried to go for Dory. Jerry at this point was trying to hold his brother back. Dory started shouting “I’M GOING TO KILL YOU! I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!”

Quotation(s) from announcer: “Terry Funk has said something to Jack Brisco that seems to have put him into overdrive. This is an Oklahoma bull, and he’s seen red here. Of course, no love lost between Jack and Terry’s brother, Dory, who go back a long, long way. I don’t know if any men hate each other more in all of wrestling than the Briscos hate the Funks, and vice versa.” “Jack Brisco! With the chair!! Oh not like this Jack! FIGURE-FOUR!! And that’s it surely. Referee is up, and forget about it, he’s done. Terry Funk has submitted. But Brisco isn’t releasing the figure-four! Jack!!! Someone needs to speak to him, he’s lost it here!” “Jack Brisco STILL with the figure-four applied. He’s going to break his leg! That could end a man’s career! Jack Brisco wants to put Terry Funk out of wrestling for good! Whatever he said at the start of this match, seems to have really upset Brisco here.” “And look at Dory now!! He wants Jack Brisco bad! It’s pandemonium here! Referees all lost control, this is madness!” “Dory now!! Jack wants a piece of him still. Well, as much as I’m not a fan of his tactics, I have to say that I hope Terry Funk is going to be able to walk again. And by the looks of Dory, I don’t think we’ve seen the end of this, not by a long shot!” “Breath-taking night here at the Meadowlands”

Good stuff here and I appreciate your continued realistic use of Mil Mascaras as not just a name on paper to do whatever you book. Terry's promo cacked me up.

Seems like Jack Brisco crossed the line here, not a very babyface move to end a man's career. Also surprised you are making Backlund look like Superman surviving 3 piledrivers especially since I've seen you complain about no sold piledrivers on numerous occasions. It is an interesting dichotomy between Parv the wrestling fan who doesn't like Backlund and wants piledrivers to be sold like death and Parv the booker. That's just an observation not really criticism.

Tuesday September 6th 1983, WWF live from Madison Square Garden

{Howard Finkel is shown in the ring as he announces the arrival of Jesse Ventura and Vince McMahon!}

Vince McMahon: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to Madison Square Garden and Jesse Ventura, tonight, we have got a full card with some of the best action in the world. I have to say I am especially looking forward to our main event, the return of Andre the Giant!

Jesse Ventura: McMahon, you know as well as I do that Andre may have bitten off more than he can chew. I have seen him defeat 2 and 3 men, but tonight he is going in there against the WWF champion and outside of me, one of the smartest men in wrestling… Bobby Heenan.

Vince: Andre will certainly have his hands full. Tonight we will also see a rematch for the WWF Tag Team Championship as the Andersons, Arn and Ole defend their newly won titles against Jack and Jerry Brisco.

Jesse: A lot of people say there was controversy with this title win, but the way I see it, the Andersons cashed in on an opportunity and took everything the Brisco’s had!

Vince: Certainly there is a question as to a pay off of some sort. Some are pointing fingers at Dory Funk Jr… but time will tell on that situation. Tonight he will be going one on one with Billy Robinson, a true wrestler in that ring.

Jesse: There is no doubting the skill of Billy Robinson, but I wonder what he will do against someone with the mean streak of a Dory Funk.

Vince: That will be something to behold. Tonight, Ricky the Dragon Steamboat will go into the ring with Randy Savage. Jesse, I think it is safe to say that these two men have been putting on some amazing matches lately, but I feel we have just seen the beginning.

Jesse: Well Randy Savage is someone I see a lot of potential in and if you ask me, he is a step away, or maybe an elbow away, from taking that Intercontinental Championship from Steamboat.

Vince: He could earn that very opportunity right here tonight. We spoke about Nick Bockwinkel earlier, but I know that Bob Backlund is in line to get his hands on him, but tonight he has to step into that ring with Ted Dibiase.

Jesse: Ted Dibiase is one of the best wrestlers in the world McMahon and without a doubt, he will be the one that closes the case on Backlund.

Vince: I couldn’t disagree with you more…

Jesse: What do you know McMahon?!?

Vince: Well I do know that making their way to the ring right now is one of the up and coming tag teams in the sport. We have seen Tommy Rogers on television as of late and he has been quite impressive…

Jesse: Well he has gotten lucky on television McMahon… but this is Madison Square Garden and there’s no telling as to what could happen when he steps into that ring tonight.

Vince: He steps in with his tag team partner, Bobby Fulton… ladies and gentlemen they are the Fantastics. Let’s head to the ring.

The Fantastics (Tommy Rogers & Bobby Fulton) vs The Goon & Tony Colon

{Solid opening contest tonight from MSG. You can tell that Rogers and Fulton may be having some butterflies. Jesse really puts that over as Vince says he thinks they are rising to the occasion. The Goon and Colon do business the right way and make Rogers and Fulton look good. The Rocket Launcher really excites the crowd for the 1…2…3 @6:21! The fans give them a little pop, but nothing offensive.}

Vince: Jesse, even you have to admit that the Fantastics looked good there.

Jesse: I am the first one to give someone their due… they looked okay, but far from good in my opinion.

Vince: Truly the opinion of the Body means more than the opinion of most.

Jesse: Don’t forget it McMahon.

Vince: Fans, let’s head to the ring for our next contest.

Billy Robinson vs Dory Funk Jr

{A true clinic for these two men. Vince and Jesse both put over their abilities but they really discuss the mean streak of Dory. They talk about how much hatred he has right now for the Briscos after they injured Terry Funk. Billy Robinson is really a great worker and he and Dory roll around, going move for move. The catch as catch can style is over Vince’s head but there are some great maneuvers while Jesse puts over how tight this contest goes. Dory begins to look desperate but then he tosses Billy Robinson into the ring post and Robinson’s shoulder looks to be hurt. Dory runs with a high knee right into the shoulder and then a back body drop. Dory gets a two count, as Billy isn’t done yet. Dory continues to work the arm and shoulder but then Billy begins to turn and roll and he gets a great standing dropkick on Dory sending him back into the turnbuckle. Robinson runs again but Dory moves and throws him back into the ring post again! Dory then rolls him up with a handful of tights for the 1…2….3 @15:46! Dory jumps out of the ring and walks back up the aisle. Robinson shakes off the referees and walks to the back.}

Vince: I don’t think there is any question about the ability of Billy Robinson.

Jesse: He is a good competitor, but just not good enough tonight.

Vince: I don’t think Dory Funk read the rulebook before this one…

Jesse: When you are a Funk, perhaps the rules don’t apply.

Vince: That could very well be true for our next competitors… let’s go to the ring.

Victor & Jose Luis Rivera vs Bruiser Brody & Abdullah The Butcher

{A complete dismantling by Brody and Abby tonight. They destroy Victor and then turn their attention to Jose and he doesn’t last long either. A running knee drop by Brody spells the end @4:32! Brody and Abby look like they could go into the crowd to get more action.}

Jesse: I told you McMahon… these guys are outrageous!

Vince: I believe Brody and Hansen feel as though they deserve something down the line. Perhaps another tag team title shot?

Jesse: I think that there is a plethora of challengers for those titles. We will see if the Briscos can regain the titles a little bit later.

Vince: I would certainly like to see that contest. Jesse, our next contest is one that we’ve both been looking forward to.

Jesse: I said it before; Randy Savage will be the next Intercontinental Champion…

Vince: In order to do that, he’d have to defeat the man he faces tonight… let’s see if he can do it… I have a lot of faith in Ricky Steamboat.

WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Ricky Steamboat © vs Randy Savage

{From start to finish, these two men leave everything in the ring. This contest has got a little bit of everything. In the beginning, we see both men feel one another out with some smooth transitional wrestling. Steamboat gets the advantage and looks to be in control of the contest but then Savage turns the table and takes the fight outside the ring. The MSG crowd is hot for the brawling type action that Savage brings forth but it doesn’t last too long. They get back in the ring and we get some flying from both men as the pace is picked up to a whole new level. A big cut off by Savage when he grabs Steamboat and tosses his throat onto the top rope and he goes down. Savage just goes on the offensive and he is looking to destroy everything Steamboat has. Vince and Jesse really put over the savage nature – pun intended – of his attack on Steamboat. Dick Kroll is trying to pull him off but Savage pushes him backwards. He threatens the DQ and Savage brushes him off. The small moment of distraction is just enough for Steamboat to come back and the crowd is heating back up. Steamboat is coming back with some strikes and chops and then a big dropkick and Savage is down! Steamboat then goes into a huge series of DEEP ARM DRAGS and he is looking to finish! Steamboat with a high cross body and a two count. He then goes for another and another two count. Savage looks to be reeling and here comes Steamboat off the top rope with a HIGH CROSS BODY but Savage rolls through for the 1…2…KICK OUT! Savage can’t believe it as he gets up and Steamboat runs for a clothesline but Savage ducks and then Savage goes for a backslide but Steamboat flips over his back and goes for a small package 1….2… DING DING DING! Steamboat has won it and he raises his hand. Dick Kroll talks to Finkel and then he pulls Steamboat’s hand down. Finkel announces that this was a NO CONTEST and a TIME LIMIT DRAW @ the 30:00 minute mark. Steamboat says he had him pinned but nothing doing. Savage from behind with a high knee and Steamboat goes through the ropes to the floor! Savage jumps outside the ring and he grabs the title belt and he CRACKS Steamboat from behind! He holds the belt up as it is his own and the crowd is irate!]

Vince: You’ve got to be kidding me Jesse! Randy Savage has just…

Jesse: He’s just made his mark McMahon! He is the champion in my book!

Vince: Jesse, please! Steamboat had him pinned!

Jesse: He couldn’t get the job done and that idiot Dick Kroll couldn’t count to 3 if he had help!

Vince: I can’t believe you Jesse. Fans, we are going to take a quick intermission, we will be back with more action.

* 10-MINUTE INTERMISSION *

Vince: Fans welcome back. Jesse… I think the controversy we just saw with Savage and Steamboat could be trumped by the controversy of our next contest.

Jesse: Why do you want to bring up that garbage? Listen, just this past week, the Andersons won the WWF Tag Team Championship. They defeated the Briscos and there’s nothing can be done about it!

Vince: Well Jesse, you have to admit, there is something to be said about Dory Funk Jr’s role in that whole situation?

Jesse: What do you mean McMahon?! The Brisco’s broke Funk’s leg!

Vince: It was a brutal contest and this past week, we saw the Anderson’s take out a measure of revenge and possibly take out Jerry Brisco’s arm.

Jesse: Eye for eye in my opinion McMahon!

Vince: Well they are set for a rematch, let’s head to the ring.

WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

The Brisco Brothers vs The Andersons ©

{A huge rematch with these four men. Gene Anderson is out with Ole and Arn. Jack looks to be enraged while Jerry has got some wrap around his arm and this one is ready to explode. These four go around 16-minutes. We see the Briscos get the advantage to get things started and they keep up a pace but sooner than later, the Andersons find a way to turn the tide. The double-teaming and blind tags by the Andersons really dictate the pace of the contest and Arn Anderson really comes into his own and he is a whole new level of vicious. The match comes to a screeching halt when Ole holds Jerry’s arm on the ground and Arn comes off the middle rope with a knee right into the bone! You can hear a pop as Vince and Jesse really put it over on commentary! Jack runs into the ring and he is screaming at the referee and Jerry is grasping his arm! The match is called at 17:32! It is a no contest as Jerry is unable to continue. The Andersons then go on the attack again and it is a 3 on 2 attack as Jerry is hurt in a bad way and Jack is covering him up. Lars then runs down to the ring and it is 4 on 2 but he isn’t alone! IT’S DORY FUNK JR! Dory walks down to the ring and he has got a briefcase. Jack is shown covering Jerry as the Andersons join Dory who then gives them a briefcase. What in the world is going on here?!? Jack makes a run at Dory but the Anderson’s hold him. Dory walks over and puts his finger right in his face and smack him. Jack is seething right now. Dory then grabs him with his hand and then he punches him right in the skull once, twice, and then a third time and Jack Brisco falls flat on his face. Dory walks out and up the aisle. The Andersons hold the titles high in the air.}

Vince: Now you’ve got to admit that Dory had something to do with this!

Jesse: Well I didn’t believe it, but it looks like he does. I think it is justifiable though.

Vince: How can you admit to that?

Jesse: Like I said, eye for an eye, but when it comes to the Funks and Andersons, they want more than just revenge.

Vince: This makes me sick.

Jesse: It looks like someone already threw up on that suit you’ve got.

Vince: Jesse. Fans, we are going to head to the ring. We know that Bob Backlund will do anything to get his hands on Nick Bockwinkel, but tonight he has to get through Ted Dibiase first.

Bob Backlund vs Ted Dibiase

{These two get going from the beginning and this is a nice move for move contest. Backlund has got a lot of energy and fire in everything he does. Dibiase is a consignment professional and he is trying to work the contest but Backlund continues to show some signs of mental distress. Jesse and Vince put this over and Backlund is going a little over the line and Dibiase is trying to get outta the fight. Dibiase then goes low and he rakes the eyes and a knee that goes VERY LOW! Backlund then gets even angrier and he chases Dibiase who jumps through the ropes. Dibiase is reaching in his tights and he gets back in the ring… he’s got something on his hand. Backlund catches him and he looks to lock him up but Dibiase turns around and WHACK with his right hand! Dick Kroll sees that something is on his hand and calls for the bell! Dibiase is pounding away and Backlund is busted! Dibiase turns to work the crowd and then Backlund slowly gets to his feet and Dibiase sees him and jumps through the ropes as Backlund is walking towards him. This one is far from over!}

Vince: I don’t think we’ve seen the last of this one Jesse!

Jesse: Without a doubt McMahon. Dibiase won the battle, but the war is far from over.

Vince: I think it is just a matter of time before Bob Backlund gets his hands on Nick Bockwinkel.

Jesse: In my opinion, he hasn’t earned the shot yet.

Vince: Please Jesse. He has beat so many top contenders.

Jesse: Maybe in your mind McMahon… I think there is still one big one left, and he may never get to it.

Vince: Perhaps time will tell. Fans our main event tonight is a special attraction. Andre the Giant is taking on Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan. Let’s go to the ring.

MAIN EVENT

HANDICAP MATCH

Andre the Giant vs Nick Bockwinkel & Bobby The Brain Heenan

{Andre with a great entrance as the MSG crowd is soo excited to see him. Bock and Heenan are working the fans over and this is just a fun contest and great way to send the people home. This one only goes about 10-minutes but a fun story is told. Heenan is the perfect foil for Andre who does everything to get his hands on him. Bock is able to get in a couple moves of offense and Andre sells just a little but then he fights back. He nails a big double headbutt on Heenan and Bock and the crowd is rocking. Andre is looking to finish and here comes Blackjack Lanza! He runs down and then Andre grabs him and HEABUTT and he goes down. Bock runs at Andre and big boot right to his mush! Heenan tries to run but Andre grabs him and POWERSLAM for the 1…2….3! Andre has won it! Vince and Jesse really put this over as Blackjack carries Heenan to the back. Bock is holding the title and then Andre makes a signal for the title and it looks like he is interested in taking it over. Vince and Jesse continue to put over the night’s action.}

WWF at Agricultural Hall in Allentown, PA (TV Taping for WWF Challenge)

Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and Superstar Graham

Bret Hart vs Tony Colon

{Bret Hart is really getting over with Gorilla and Superstar. They say this guy could be something big down the line and put over what he’s done in the past couple of weeks. Bret has got it going in the ring too and he is able to dissect Colon and wear down the neck. Bret picks him up for the PILEDRIVER and the 1…2…3! Bret works the crowd as Gorilla and Superstar say it is only a matter of time before he gets his shot.}

Dean Ho & Jerry Monti vs Dr. Death Steve Williams & Bobby Eaton

{A very interesting tag team encounter here as Gorilla and Superstar put over this team. They talk about how Eaton and Williams have had some success as singles and decided to cause some more pain and destruction as a team. Monti and Ho really make them look good in the ring as both men are cutting their chops. Eaton shows some flashes of excellence while Dr. Death is as strong as an ox. A big POWERSLAM from Dr. Death on Monti spells the end for the 1…2…3! Eaton and Williams work the crowd, acting as though the world is beneath them. Superstar and Gorilla say that they may think it, but there’s plenty of teams who could challenge them and just may very well do that.}

{We cut to extended highlights from the show at Madison Square Garden. Highlights of the WWF Tag Team Title contest are shown with Dory Funk handing over the briefcase full of money to the Andersons. We see the epic encounter of Ricky Steamboat and Randy Savage. The highlight is seeing moments from the Andre vs Bockwinkel & Heenan handicap match.}

Tommy Rogers vs The Goon

{Much like before, the praises of Tommy Rogers are not on short supply. There are some comparisons to Bret Hart but still a step behind. Gorilla says he has heard that Rogers has got a tag partner and could be making his way to the area before too long. The Goon really works over the crowd and he is going towards breaking every rule in the book. Rogers finds a way to get the momentum back and then he nails a big dropkick on the Goon sending him backwards before he hits the ropes and a big HIGH CROSS BODY for the 1…2…3!! Rogers gets a nice ovation from the crowd and you know he’s ready for a challenge.}

Billy Robinson vs Swede Hanson

{A fun little main event here as Gorilla and Superstar put over Billy Robinson and his impressive resume from Japan and throughout the world. Swede tries to work some power on Robinson, but the consignment pro has got a lot of tricks up his sleeve. We see some great in and out movements before Robinson gets control of the contest and before too long he nails Swede with a double arm suplex! He then goes to the ground and locks in a grounded necklock much like an abdominal stretch as Hansen is giving up. Billy works the crowd as Gorilla and Superstar put him over and talk about a dream contest between him and Steamboat for the IC title down the line.}

WWF at Agricultural Hall in Fieldhouse in Hamburg, PA (TV Taping for WWF Superstars)

Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura

Vince McMahon: Welcome everyone to WWF Superstars! I am Vince McMahon alongside Jesse the Body Ventura! Jesse, tonight we have got a full lineup including a very interesting tag team contest and the Intercontinental Champion in action!

Jesse Ventura: McMahon, let me first say that I deserve top billing for this show, lik e every other I am on! The second thing is this, you and I were at the Garden the other night, and I don’t think Ricky Steamboat is even going to be able to step into the ring tonight!

Vince: We will see if that remains to be true. Also tonight fans, we will hear from WWF Champion Nick Bockwinkel and his insurance policy if you will, Ted Dibiase.

Jesse: Dibiase is one of the most menacing men in all of professional wrestling and you can’t tell me that he doesn’t have Backlund’s number!

Vince: We will see exactly what Bob Backlund has to say on that matter. Fans right now, we are heading to the ring for this colossal tag team encounter including Andre the Giant and his partner, Mr. Wrestling II as they take on former tag team champions, the Wild Samoans!

Andre The Giant & Mr. Wrestling II vs The Wild Samoans

{A huge opening contest tonight as Andre and Wrestling II work quite well together. The Samoans are like beasts out there without any direction. Afa and Sika get some great heat on Wrestling II and then he makes a big tag to Andre who comes in and gets some offense but even Afa and Sika find a way to hurt the big man. Andre is able to fend them off as Wrestling II gets back in and gets some fast paced offense in. The Samoans break him down once again but Wrestling II with a big tag to Andre and he is tossing both Afa and Sika around. He goes for a double underhook suplex on Sika and then the cover but Afa breaks up the pin. He throws the referee to the ground and we get a DQ! Afa and Sika attack the Giant with everything they’ve got but Wrestling II jumps back in and evens the odds for a moment as the Samoans retreat. Vince and Jesse say this one is far from over.}

*COMMERCIAL*

{We return from commercial with Vince and Jesse putting over the happenings from last week’s Superstars of Wrestling. We see Arn and Ole Anderson winning the world tag team titles and injuring Jerry Brisco.}

Vince: That was the catalyst for all of this Jesse. We saw the Andersons dismantle Jerry Brisco and now Jack may be on his own for a while.

Jesse: All in due payback if you ask me McMahon. For what Jack did to Terry Funk, this was justifiable in my book.

Vince: The feud between the Briscos and Funks is one that dates back quite some time and I think we can all look forward to the future encounter between Dory and Jack.

Jesse: I think it is a one sided brawl. Funk has got a lot more in the tank and I don’t think Jack will be able to hang McMahon!

Vince: That remains to be seen. Right now, the men who some say got rich off this whole situation; the Andersons are in action. Let’s take it to the ring.

SD Jones & Dominic DeNucci vs Arn & Ole Anderson w/ Gene Anderson

{Arn and Ole are on some kind of a hot streak right now. This one isn’t pretty for Jones and DeNucci. Arn and Ole completely control the contest and look to be able to beat anyone in their path. A nasty spinebuster by Arn Anderson spells the end for SD and the 1…2…3! Arn and Ole shake hands with Gene and hold up the tag titles. Vince and Jesse say that the titles may be secure and unsure about who could possibly challenge for the gold!}

*COMMERCIAL*

{Superstars returns with Gorilla Monsoon doing some voiceover work putting over some of the major feuds with footage. We then cut to promos from some of the superstars…}

9y1ThDB.jpg

Ted Dibiase: Let me make it abundantly clear to every single person out there in television land. I was paid to do a job and I haven’t done it yet. I pride myself on making more money, breaking more bones, and winning more matches than any other wrestler. I have won championships all over the world and I have ended twice as many careers. Backlund… you have crossed the wrong person pal and you need to pay. You need to pay for what you’ve done and Backlund, everybody’s got a price. You are going to find out just what it takes to survive when you step into the ring with Ted Dibiase!

Bob%20Backlund_zps1ovh9j85.jpg

Bob Backlund: Ted Dibiase… you are a second generation wrestler with a great amateur background and you’ve thrown it ALL AWAY to be a mercenary. You are nothing but a hired gun and outlaw… you are nothing but a man who has sold his soul. Well Dibiase… you are looking at the man who is going to make YOU PAY! You wanna talk about money, you wanna talk about taking someone out… they are going to have to call in the National Guard to rip me off you! Bockwinkel… you make sure you see the tape. You make sure you watch really close… because you’re next!

NickBockwinkel2.jpg

Nick Bockwinkel:One has to wonder just what it takes to be known as the best. Without a shadow of a doubt, you are looking at the premiere wrestler in the world today. This championship is the image of excellence and it has never looked better around the waist of a man than it does around mine. I have defended this title all over the world and I have beaten EVERY challenger in my way. Now a lot of people say that I have been ducking Bob Backlund. A lot of people have been saying that I have been dodging Bob Backlund. All you people are lacking the intelligence and knowledge to make a correct assumption. You see I am not afraid of Bob Backlund and I welcome his challenge. I welcome it so much that I am willing to sign the dotted line… it is just… I have too many other pressing items to take care of Bob. Perhaps you will move up the line… if I let you!

WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Ricky Steamboat vs Mr. Fuji

{Vince and Jesse put over the words from those competitors as we go to the ring for our premiere contest. Jesse really puts over Savage and talks about how Steamboat may be afraid to step back into the ring with him. Vince opposes any of those notions. Fuji gets some decent heat but Steamboat fights back with everything he’s got. The crowd is solidly behind the Intercontinental Champion and the FLYING CROSS BODY and the 1…2…3 is all she wrote. Steamboat works the crowd as Vince and Jesse put him through the roof and discuss what it would be like to see a match with Bockwinkel and Steamboat, but first Randy Savage is waiting in the wings!}

WWF Live @ the Philadelphia Spectrum - Tuesday September 13th 1983

{Gary Michael Cappetta announces the arrival of Dick Graham & Kal Rudman}

Dick: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the Philadelphia Spectrum! I am Dick Graham alongside Kal Rudman. Kal, we have got an action packed night of action here this evening. I have to say that before we get to action, we wanted to let the fans know that Jerry Brisco will not be in action tonight.

Kal: That’s right Dick. A couple of weeks ago, he was taken out by the Andersons. Tonight, Jack Briscoe says he has got someone to fill in as he goes up against the Andersons in tag team action.

Dick: You better know that wherever Jack is, Dory Funk won’t be far behind.

Kal: Dory Funk of course looking for a measure of revenge on Jack for hurting his brother Terry… but he hurt Jerry… so anything could happen.

Dick: I am told that next week, these two men are going to clash in the Boston Garden.

Kal: They may have to have some extra security for that one. Fans it is now time to head to the ring. Tonight we have got a great lineup all headlined by Wahoo McDaniels challenging Nick Bockwinkel for the WWF Championship, plus a rematch with Ted Dibiase taking on Bob Backlund.

Dick: Don’t forget that big tag team contest, Randy Savage has employed the help of Bruiser Brody & Stan Hansen to take on Ricky Steamboat and his special partner, Andre the Giant while he says he is out to prove that Steamboat can’t defeat him! Let’s go to the ring.

The Fantastics vs Tiger Chung Lee & Mr. Fuji

{Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers make their return to the WWF here but this time they face former WWF Tag Team Championship Contenders. Tiger and Fuji aren’t as spry as they once were but they put forth a good effort to slow the pace down and be methodical. Rogers and Fulton are able to keep things going at a fast enough pace to keep Fuji and Lee off balance. A pair of huge double dropkicks backs Fuji and Lee off and then a pair of high cross bodies and the crowd pops! Fuji gets to his feet and he’s got something in his tights. Fulton picks him up but Fuji throws the SALT in his eyes! The referee is locked up with Tiger and Rogers on the other side of the ring! Fuji with a NASTY crescent kick to Fulton’s throat and the 1….2….3! Tiger and Fuji get the victory and the fans aren’t happy!}

-Dick and Kal put over the teamwork of Fulton and Rogers. They talk about how the experience of Lee and Fuji helped win the match along with the underhanded tactics. They move their attention to Randy Savage who says he will be the next Intercontinental Champion. They discuss how he will be facing Ricky Steamboat next week in Boston and the title will be on the line. They wonder if Savage’s bounty on Steamboat will allow him to even make it to the event after Brody and Hansen get a hold of him tonight.

George Steele vs Randy Savage

{A pretty short, but entertaining contest with Savage and Steele. Savage works the crowd up, as they are still hot about the previous contest. He breaks a couple of rules in trying to rile up the Animal who breaks loose before too long and starts chasing Savage around the ring! Once they get back in the ring, it is Savage who takes control of the contest. Steele tries to get in some offense and he does work over Savage but the Macho Man has just a little bit more in the tank. A couple of huge shots and then a spinning neckbreaker sets up Savage for a FLYING ELBOW and the 1…2…3!! Savage makes the signal for the title and he says it will be his next week from the Boston Garden!}

-Dick and Kal put over how Savage may very well be the next IC champion. They discuss how smooth he is in the ring and how he can face anyone, any size. They change their focus to this issue with Dory and Jack Brisco. They talk about the clinic that Dory and Billy Robinson put on a week ago. They put over Billy’s shoulder issues and if Dory will finish it off pretty quickly.

Billy Robinson vs Dory Funk Jr

{This one builds right where they left off last week. We get 20 solid minutes of back and forth chain wrestling. Dory is at his finest and you better damn well know that Billy has stepped up his game as well. Dory attempts to work over the shoulder but Robinson appears to have rehabbed the injury and it doesn’t bother him. Dory then turns the tide to the knee and Robinson is doing anything he can to survive. Dory then works over the leg some more and he goes for the spinning toe-hold but the tide turns at Jack Brisco is here! He steps out and looks on in the ring and Dory looks at him. He lets go of the leg and wants him to come into the ring. Jack backs off and Dory grabs Billy again but Robsinon with a roll up for the 1…2….3!! Robinson wins it! he hobbles out of the ring as Brisco helps him up. Dory Funk is going wild and he isn’t happy one bit!}

-Dick and Kal are really putting over Robinson’s ability to capitalize, Dory’s ability to break down his opponent, and Jack Brisco’s presence on Funk’s psyche. They talk about that big showdown next week in Boston and what is could mean for the WWF. They turn their tide to the next contest and talk about Randy Savage putting up a lot of moneyt o soften up Ricky Steamboat. They discuss how Brody and Hansen are the two men who are best fit to do it.

Ricky Steamboat & Andre the Giant vs Bruiser Brody & Stan Hansen

{This is a great tag team encounter. Andre is such a great showman and he has got a great partner in Ricky Steamboat tonight. Brody and Hansen are two wild and crazy guys! Steamboat is able to work a lot of the “wrestling” of the contest and when Andre comes in the crowd just explodes. Andre works so well with Hansen and Brody. They play the big man’s game so well. It is Steamboat who comes in and turns up the pace. Brody and Hansen are about to get a double clothesline on Andre taking him out of the ring to the floor. It is then a 2 on 1 attack outside the ring and the referee continues to count and reaches 10! Steamboat is out inside the ring from a nasty LARIAT from Hansen. Steamboat and Andre have “won” the contest but Andre is getting taken out, outside the ring. The crowd then pops when Randy Savage is showing running down to the ring and he attacks Steamboat! He is all over him! Savage is pounding away. We have officials and agents running down to the ring and trying to break things up. Savage, Brody, and Hansen walk to the back as the crowd is flooding them with debris!}

*10-Minute Intermission*

-Dick and Kal are back and put over the first half of action. They discuss just how important the contest will be coming up with Backlund and Dibiase in determining just who will get a shot at the WWF championship down the line. They discuss the tag team of Ole & Arn Anderson and what they could do as tag team champions. They also wonder who Jack Brisco got for a tag team partner….

WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Jack Brisco & Superstar Billy Graham vs Arn & Ole Anderson

{Let the cat out of the bag as the Superstar is back and he looks better than ever! Graham comes out to a great ovation. This one is a fun 10-minute affair with Brisco doing a brunt of the work but Superstar coming in for the pop. Ole and Arn are by their lonesome tonight as Dick and Kal talk about Gene and Lars waiting in the wings somewhere. Ole and Arn are in some kind of a groove right now with their ability to work as a tag team. Jack and Superstar are looking good and the Andersons continue to get frustrated with the contest! The fans are solidly behind Jack and Graham and out of nowhere we see the true colors of the Andersons. Jack Brisco with a big dropkick on Arn and Superstar with a huge clothesline on Ole sends both of these guys out of the ring to the floor. Ole and Arn are not happy and they grab the titles! You’ve got to be kidding me… Ole and Arn are walking off with the belts! Mario Savoldi doesn’t know what is going on but he calls for the bell and that’s all she wrote. Superstar and Jack shake hands… they were that close to getting the titles back!}

-Dick and Kal talk about just how close we were to seeing the titles change hands. They talk about the big contest with Jack and Dory next week and talk about this being a turning point in their feud. They discuss just who could challenge the Andersons and be successful. They put over the next contest and discuss how Dibiase had to cheat last week to get through the contest but this week, it could be different!

Bob Backlund vs Ted Dibiase

{Here we go with one of the hottest feuds going right now in the WWF. Dibiase and Backlund just go balls to the wall and we get a great contest. This one goes the full time limit of 30-mintues and it is back and forth. Dibiase works the neck and back for quite a bit of the contest and garners some great heat. Backlund fits back with some big offense and some high impact moves to slow down Dibiase. As time runs down Dibiase is able to hit a huge piledriver for a two count and then Backlund builds back up and he locks in the crossface chicken wing. He has it locked in tight as the bell rings and he things he won the contest. Mario lets him know that the time expired. Backlund is very let down at the announcement but he turns around and Dibiase is there with a huge right hand with that loaded glove!! Backlund drops down line a bag of potatoes. Dibiase pounds away! He then grabs the microphone and tells Backlund that he’s coming to Boston next week and only one of them is going to be able to walk away but the other must leave for good!}

-Dick and Kal try to make sense of what Dibiase is talking about there. They say that they may be in action next week but hope to find out more tomorrow on television to see just what is going on. They put over the big main event with Wahoo and Bock for the title. They said they have seen so much tonight but there is still so much to come with the WWF Championship on the line.

MAIN EVENT

WWF CHAMPIONSHIP

Wahoo McDaniel vs Nick Bockwinkel w/ Bobby Heenan

{This is about as big as it gets. Bock continues to show his arrogance he truly is one of the best in the world at it. Heenan needs security with him as the crowd looks to be chomping at the bit to get their hands on him. This one is a fun 18-minute contest. Wahoo has got some big time power and strength and Bock flies all over for him. Bock is able to slow the contest down and he is working the neck of Wahoo something fierce. Heenan even gets his stabs and jabs in when the referee is tied up with Bock. Wahoo has to fight his way back and he does with some huge chops and strikes. Bock is doing everything he can to try and back him off but nothing doing. Heenan even gets up on he apron and Wahoo brings him in! Mario is losing control of this contest. Heenan drops something as he is running from Wahoo but the big guy catches him and hammers with some rights and then a HUGE OVERHEAD CHOP and Heenan is out! Wahoo turns around and Bock has got something in his hand and he NAILS HIM RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES! Wahoo goes down and Bock covers for the 1….2….3!! The crowd is irate right now! They are tossing debris at Bock and Heenan who are barely surviving this one. Wahoo is slow to get to his feet.}

-Dick and Kal put over a solid night’s action. They then put over next week’s Boston card…

Superstar and Gorilla put over how these guys want that rematch with Tiger Chung Lee and Mr. Fuji next week in Boston Garden. Inside the ring tonight, the Fantastics look fantastic and end up hitting a Rocket Launcher on Pete Doherty for the 1…2…3! Fulton and Rogers look out to the crowd and then to the camera and say they are looking for Fuji and Tiger… will they answer?}

Jack Carson vs Dr. Death Steve Williams

{A great showcase for Dr. Death Steve Williams. He is on fire right now and Gorilla says he doesn’t know if he can be stopped. Carson puts some nice offense but nothing near competitive for Dr. Death who nails the OKLAHOMA SLAM for the 1…2…3! Dr. Death says he wants more but who will answer the call? Gorilla and Superstar then put over the big card coming up next week in Boston!}

RickySteamboat.jpg

Ricky Steamboat: Well ladies and gentlemen it is set. Next Tuesday night in the Boston Garden, Randy Savage and myself are going to head into the ring and the Intercontinental Championship is going to be on the line. Randy Savage you put out the bounty on me but it wasn’t paid. You had to sneak up behind me and try and knock me out, but it didn’t take. I am here… right now… telling you that without a shadow of a doubt, I am going into Boston with this title and I am leaving with it!

Bret Hart vs Arn Anderson w/ Ole Anderson

{A nice back and forth contest with Arn and Bret. These two guys work so well together. Arn is an overbearing heel and he is working the crowd but Bret Hart has got a lot of juice in the tank. These guys go about 12-minutes as Gorilla and Superstar put it through the roof. In the end, Bret is looking to finish but when he hits the ropes Ole grabs his foot. Bret looks down at him and when he turns around Arn Anderson grabs him for a DDT! 1…2….3!! Arn is the winner as he and Ole celebrate. Gorilla and Superstar put over the night’s action and wonder just who will be able to challenge these two for the tag team titles!?!}

Vince McMahon: Welcome everyone to WWF Superstars! I am Vince McMahon alongside Jesse the Body Ventura. Jesse, you and I both saw the action from last night’s event in the Philadelphia Spectrum and the issue between Bob Backlund and Ted Dibiase has hit an all time high.

Jesse Ventura: You’ve got that right McMahon. Now my sources told me about what was going to happen in Boston, but I was waiting for you to confirm it.

Vince: I can confirm it at this point, fans this Tuesday night in the Boston Garden, it will be a loser leaves town CAGE MATCH between Bob Backlund and Ted Dibiase. I am told that the winner of this contest will face WWF Champion Nick Bockwinkel the following week in the Meadowlands for the title!

Jesse: Huge news… just huge. I only have to wonder what Backlund will be doing after he loses to Dibiase and loses his job. I am excited to see Dibiase and Bockwinkel though… should be interesting.

Vince: Well don’t speak too quickly Jesse, the thing is that Nick Bockwinkel has to defend the championship against the Junkyard Dog at the Boston Garden next week. He could not even make it through that contest.

Jesse: I’d bet anything on it…

Vince: Even your spot on Superstars?

Jesse: No but I’d bet yours McMahon!

Vince: HAHA! Fans we’ve got a great night of action and it is time to head to the ring for our opening contest!

Dean Ho vs Mr. Fuji

{A pretty basic contest with Fuji and Ho. Jesse says he spoke with Fuji about the Fantastics and he and Tiger Chung Lee agreed to the contest for the Boston Garden. He said that Fuji and Tiger were going to teach them a lesson and it may be the hard way if the Fantastics don’t follow suite. Fuji is able to nail a pretty nasty crescent kick to the throat and follow up with the 1…2…3! Jesse put over the team of Fuji and Tiger but Vince says that the Fantastics may be the ones with the momentum!}

-Superstars returns with Vince and Jesse putting over the issue between Dory Funk and Jack Brisco. They discuss their confrontations and the big showdown in Boston next week. They discuss the tag team title picture and go through the issue that Andre the Giant had with Brody and Hansen the other night. They say Andre is going to have a partner next week and that could be the brawl to end it all!

Andre the Giant vs The Goon, Randy Barber, & Baron Sciciuna

{A good handicap contest with Andre doing work tonight. These three do their best but the big man is just too much for them to handle. Andre’s talent is showcased and this one is over before we know it with a big splash from Andre on the 3 of them for the 1…2..3! Vince and Jesse say Andre could contend for the tag team titles but wonder who would partner with him… or if he’d even need one!}

Ted Dibiase: Bobby Backlund, you played right into my hands. I gave you exactly what I wanted and you took it. Tuesday night in the Boston Garden you are going to get more than you bargained for pal. That steel cage is going to grind you up and I am going to spit you out. I came here for one reason and that was to get my hands on the World Title… in order to do it.. I have to beat you first and that’s exactly what I am going to do!

Bob%20Backlund_zps1ovh9j85.jpg

Bob Backlund: Each time we have been in that ring Ted Dibiase, you have broken the rules to try and get ahead. This Tuesday night in Boston… there are no rules. Inside that steel cage, anything can and will happen. I am looking forward to FINALLY getting my shot at Nick Bockwinkel but that means dealing with you first. I am not looking past you, I am simply looking through you and I am going to do whatever it takes to take you out and get back what is rightfully mine!

JunkyardDog_zpsb63e0bf2.jpg

Junkyard Dog: Ohh brother lemme tell ya something right now it feels good to be back right here in the WWF and I am looking across the ring at that low down dirty dog Nick Bockwinkel. Nick… you thought you got rid of this old dog but you thought wrong jack. I am back and I want my hands on that gold. You about to feel the THUMP heard round the world!

NickBockwinkel2.jpg

Nick Bockwinkel: From my right and from my left. From behind but no one in front. That is where my challengers are all at but understand that they are all underneath me in every shape, form, and fashion. I hold the most prestigious championship in this sport. I have beaten every single competitor in my path. There is no equal to Nick Bockwinel. Now this Tuesday night, in Boston, Junkyard Dog… I know you paid the piper to get this second chance but fool me once shame on me, fool me twice and well that just doesn’t happen. Understand that once that bell rings I am going to break you down like the dog you are and show you why I am the only purebred champion in the sport of professional wrestling!

Ricky Steamboat, Jack Brisco, & Billy Robinson vs Swede Hanson, Victor Rivera, & Jose Luis Rivera

{A big main event for Superstars this week as we’ve got some premiere six-man tag team action. Steamboat, Brisco, and Robinson are about as good as it gets right now in wrestling and they put together a fun contest. Hanson and the Riveras try to get some heat but the babyfaces are just too much. Ricky Steamboat hits a huge flying crossbody on Victor Rivera for the 1…2…3!! Steamboat and company work the crowd. Vince and Jesse put over the night’s action and we end things with a word from Randy Savage and a final showcase of next week’s action in Boston!}

RandySavage02.jpg

Randy Savage: The time is coming Ricky Steamboat. The time is coming and there is nowhere for you to go. You see I am coming for that Intercontinental Championship Ricky Steamboat and you… you know it is going to happen. I can feel the gold around my waist right now and… ohhh yeeaaah… it feels good. I want it… I WANT YOU STEAMBOAT! I WANT THE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP!
