Phil Schneider
This came up in the Super Dragon thread, both guys are similar. Pretty unique style, great brawlers, one of kind aura. How do folks see placing them?
NotJayTabb
Both guys are going to make my list, but I'll be placing Necro a little higher. Not much in it, probably a couple of places, but I like Necro's ability to be both vulnerable and an arse-kicker.
Eegah
This is a real tough one for me as both these guys are in my favorite list as far as modern guys go. I went with Dragon by a hair.
Luchaundead
Why isn't there a "both make my list" option?
jackwebb
Why isn't there a "both make my list" option? Not really relevant since the question is who will you place higher.
Childs
Why isn't there a "both make my list" option? I think the idea is that if you like them both enough to list them, Phil would like to know which you like better. I'm going Necro. Dragon can't quite match his resume of indy dream matches that actually lived up to the hype. And Necro was also a compelling death match worker, of which there aren't many. Right now, Super Dragon is in my first 10 or 15 out,
El McKell
Not gonna rank either of them but I think Super Dragon is significantly better. Although Necro does create a great sense of danger about everything he does it doesn't often translate into an overall entertaining performance to me. I think Necro Butcher has quite a lot of really bad matches and only a couple of gems like the Super Dragon and Low Ki matches (The Samoa Joe match is fine but I don't love it like a lot of people)
tim
Necro makes my list, probably in the 90s. Haven't seen enough Super Dragon.
Jingus
I like Necro's ability to be both vulnerable and an arse-kicker.Yeah. Super Dragon sometimes has a tendency to take too much of the match and guzzle his opponents, while Necro is a great seller and generous to a fault. Even in those matches, though, he didn't really seem much better than a Danny Havok or MASADA who can come up with some creative spots and take some nutty bumps. I'd love to be proven wrong if somewhere there's a treasure trove of matches where he's showing the top 100 genius he definitely wasn't showing in ROH, though. InYourCase
I don't think either are making my list, but if one does, it'll be Necro. There's something about Super Dragon that is just a little off putting. I appreciate what he's done, I love the aura he brings to the table, and he's had a handful of great matches, but Necro is more talented in every aspect of being a wrestler. Super Dragon is similar to someone like Zack Sabre Jr in the sense that every big Super Dragon match, no matter who the opponent is, is worked like a Super Dragon match. He's not very versatile. Necro had a very specific style, but I think he adapted much better to guys, whether it be Low Ki, Bryan Danielson, Homicide, or Samoa Joe. GOTNW
How much great Necro is there? Super Dragon is on my list and I don't see him dropping off. I love Necro's big matches but Super Dragon also has a lot of stuff like beating the shit out of TARO and Excalibur in front of ten people that I love. Have to say I'm quite surprised 15 people are going to have at least one of them on their list.

The first Joe match, as well as his stuff vs. Low Ki, Super Dragon, Bryan Danielson, and his stuff in the ROH/CZW feud stands out. It's not a lot, but I think it's more than Super Dragon. joeg
Neither guy is going to be making my list. But I'd take Necro by a mile over Super Dragon.
Bierschwale
People really need to watch Necro's IGF stuff.

I will watch whatever Necro in IGF stuff you think I should if you can provide me a way of watching Bob Sapp vs Necro Butcher
Jimmy Redman
Not looking at either guy for my list, but I prefer Necro over Super Dragon. Necro I can appreciate as a thing even though I don't really care for his style, and I do enjoy things like the Joe match and his role in the ROH/CZW feud. Super Dragon I've seen less of, but generally he's just a guy I don't really get. Somehow he's the exception to my "dude in ninja outfit throwing his body around" fetish. Cap
I like both of them quite a bit and it would be tough for me to rank them. I would imagine they would wind up somewhere in the 85-100 range if I made a list, with Necro being a touch higher. Part of that his homerism (I am from WV) and part is just thinking he is a little more dynamic. I really like how quickly Necro goes from kicking ass to getting his ass kicked in the most extreme forms. I think that is a pretty unique talent. Obviously Necro's ability to take a beating is one of his selling points, but that isn't his real strength to me. I think he is best when he uses his unique style to put guys in new kinds of danger. For example, I am a lot lower on the Joe matches than most because to me there is not enough Necro offense to make it compelling. It was an interesting spectacle, for sure. I like the Low Ki match a lot more because that felt like a really unique dynamic and brought out a different kind of urgency in Ki. I love Super Dragon too though. I think his evolution from grappling and jumping around to ass kicker was awesome and I think he does a really good job telling the story of a fight (as does Necro). Maybe it is because of the mask, but Super Dragon always stood out as a guy with fantastic body language and deceptively good selling (when he wants to). I am not sure anyone in wrestling history has done the "thats it, fuck this guy, I am done with this shit" beat down and he implements it into lots of different parts of the match. Oddly enough, my favorite match from both men is their match against one another. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that match. Even with that table botch (that I think actually adds to the chaos) that match is tops to me.
