El-P
Exhibit #1 1985 Magnum TA says to Baby Doll that he'll show her what a real man is then proceeds to force a long kiss on her, while Dave Crockett is all smile and excited and comments "She likes it ! She likes it !" Of course she didn't and when Magnum let her go, she of course slaps the shit out of him. Which leads to Magnum trying to tear her clothes off. THEN, Tully Blanchard jumps on Magnum like a crazed man and tries to beat the shit out of him. So, the babyface sexually assaulted a woman with the happy approval of the announcer then tried to expose her when she actually dared to retaliate. And the heel (and what a creep Tully Blanchard was) jumped to the rescue of his girlfriend with tons of fire.
PeteF3
Exhibit #2 A week after Terry Taylor loses his Mid-South TV title medallion to Adrian Street after Street passionately kisses him and then rolls him up, Taylor comes out during a Street match and lays one on Miss Linda the same way Magnum does, with less orgasming from the announcers. Except Linda actually does seem to like it or at least not mind it. Street is so incensed that he grabs Linda by the hair and starts smacking her as he drags her back to the locker room. I don't know which is worse but the abuse by Street has always made me really uncomfortable, even moreso than what we now know is sexual assault. It looked like an actual domestic incident which is somehow more disturbing than a babyface giving an evil heel valet a piledriver.

Richeyedwards
Exhibit #3 DX and Steph I am not sure on the exact date but between unforgiven 1999 and survivor series. There is a raw where DX abduct Stephanie and it is implied heavily that they rape her. Road dog is seen licking his lips and drooling as they drag her away. After this the commentators wonder about what happened next with king wondering aloud. The next smackdown it comes out that oh it was fine that they raped this girl as it was not intact Steph and instead some "ditzy drama student" so it is fine that they raped this girl as it was not Steph. DX say that they did it to get to Vince and no mind was paid to the fact that they admitted to raping a girl as it was not anyone important so it is fine. There are no repocusions and they just move on next week I want to bathe in bleach after writing that.
flyonthewall2983
The Attitude Era is full of those moments. I have no shame in saying I hated what they did then as far as that stuff, as much as I cringe looking back at it.

TonyPulis'Cap
Let's not forget HHH and Steph as an on screen couple started with her being drugged and married at a drive thru Vegas chapel. Isn't that the start of all loving relationships? I can't recall 100%, but wasn't it implied as part of the heel turn that she was in on the whole thing and so that part was staged though? Could just be making that up, as my brain is hurting thinking about it! I think one of the most uncomfortable moments I can remember was the Allison Danger/Bobby Dempsey/Larry Sweeney incident from ROH. This was at the time when Bobby Dempsey was an under card trainee guy who was being berated for being fat and was under Sweeney's control. From memory, Danger is a guest on a Sweeney talk show item where he basically berates her for being a slut. Sweeney then knocks Danger out and tells Dempsey 'to be a man' and feel her up. When he says no, Sweeney then knocks him out and he falls on her in a 69 position or something. If that's not 'subtle' enough, we then get Sweeney kicking Dempsey to make it look like he's having sex with her. I haven't seen it in a long time so I can't remember what the crowd reaction was, but part of me worries that some people may have been cheering... after it, Gabe came out and apologised and said they were just dropping all reference to it and moving on. It makes you wonder how anyone thought it was a good idea in the first place.

Could just be making that up, as my brain is hurting thinking about it! Is exhibit #3 above connected to this example? I remember the kidnapped wedding quite vividly and in a way the potential honeymoon seems to mesh into the Road Dogg lip licking scene eerily well... I think you're right, tha 'F smoothed the creepiness/criminality out by having Steph be "girls gone wild" about her 'attitude' change Gosh that is all awful....especially if you couldn't see through the bullshit of the time. It makes you wonder how anyone thought it was a good idea in the first place. Gabe was frustrated by the fans' complete refusal to boo Sweeney. That was at least the initial reason for wanting to do a "heavy" angle. How it moved from there to the booked angle, I have no idea.
El-P
Exhibit #n Brother Ray saying to interviewer Crystal (whom I liked, BTW, she showed personality despite being fed the usual TNA mysoginistic bullshit from everyone, as showed here) that he should "fed" her to Devon, then at the end of a promo concluding with "We take what we want", he forces a kiss on her by grabbing her hair. No mention of this nor any outrage by the announcer, and she's perfectly fine by the next segment. (iMPACT 07/12/2007)
Mrzfn
Just watched NWA/TNA #7 (I know, I know...) and not one but two examples. First Ron Killings angrily calls one of the cage dancers a whore and starts advancing on her while undoing his pants before he gets distracted by Monty Brown. It was quick but I'm not sure what other implication there is besides attempted rape. Nobody is overly upset about it and Ricky Steamboat gives him a world title shot about 5 minutes later. On the same show, Goldilocks refuses to show her breasts and slaps Disco, so he starts violently choking her and calling her a slut. The crowd booed Goldi, by the way, when she said women have better things to do to show their breasts. The talking point as the segment ends is Paulina from Tough Enough making an appearance, not any of that other stuff. Why did I agree to watch this early TNA stuff again? Loss
Interviewers, announcers, referees, etc. are so not presented as actual dimensional people in pro wrestling most of the time.

SmartMark15
Exhibit #x Jerry Lawler surrounded by women speaking in innuendo is practically having an orgasm as he hypes up the upcoming Ms. Rumble Swimsuit competition. Ivory rightfully calls him a pervert and is thus portrayed as the bad guy for it. Even babyfaces Jacqueline and Luna Vachon who wanted no part of the contest call her a prude and attack her. My girlfriend and I were watching this Raw from 2000 yesterday and this segment almost shattered all the good will the rest of the show had built up for her. Sean Liska
Nashville-era TNA is just the sleaziest most uncomfortable to watch wrestling of all-time (well maybe XPW is up there). ECW was like the Waltons compared to the Russo/Athena shit, how could someone enjoy that.

And it's brutal.
PeteF3
I'd also like to nominate Kick Ass Wrestling for most uncomfortable promotion to watch. Well-documented by Loss, soup, and myself in the '99 Yearbook threads.

El-P
On the other hand, a Flair promo from February of 87 : "We're gonna take Precious, and we're gonna have her ride Space Mountains whether she wants it or not." Wait. Did Flair just said the Horsemen were gonna have him rape Precious there ? Holy shit.
sek69
The Flair-Garvin feud was super creepy in retrospect since it was basically Flair saying he was going to have sex with Garvin's wife whether she wanted to or not (and she was clearly positioned as not wanting to). Plus every time she rejected his advances and/or slapped him he seemed turned on like it was a live action version of Pepe Le Pew chasing the cat. El-P
*cringe* Since I already consider Jimmy Garvin as one of the worst wrestler I've seen, I really don't look forward to get through this (watching a Horsemen comp)...
