Blehschmidt
Well, the first two matches went about as expected. Patera and Blackwell losing is a shocker, but getting DQ'ed for post match excessive violence is a great way to do it. Poor Pez! When the Anderson's are right, they are right! Kokina and Muraco each pick up another nice win. Haystacks mows down a couple jabrones and looks impressive. Thornton and Bassarab move on to the finals with a nice victory over Sword and Vines. The Andersons play it smart and dispatch Austin in a few minutes and move on. Sammartino wins the title, Shit. Haystacks just pissed off a guy not quite his own size, but one certainly big enough to fight him. This should be interesting. and all is right in the world as The Anderson's bring home the gold! Mad Dog
Poor Iceman can't catch a break. Andersons got a cake walk to those belts if you ask me. I am sure they'll tell us about how hard it was though.
spaldoni
I liked the tag tournament. The Andersons looked strong and win it! Nice seeing Thornton and Bassarab make it to the finals. I think this team is clicking. Kokina and Muraco get nice wins. Oh man! Haystacks might of pissed off the wrong guy! He beats down Hansen and costs him the TV title! Cant wait for that explosive match up. Lot's of interesting things happening in Georgia. Keep up the great work.
kevinmcfl
Nice card for the people of Columbus. Nice creative way to get Patera and Blackwell out of the tournament while keeping them hot. spaldoni
Since winning the TV title, David has had some bad luck, losing to Lothario and the frustration shows as he hits Young with the title. Looking forward to watching his reign play out. Hansen and Haystacks have a couple good brawls. From the start, I've liked the Siki/Kokina alliance. Muraco is really rolling. I don't think it will be long before he's wearing some gold. It's going to be hard taking the straps from the Andersons. Blackwell and Patera are tearing it up! Reed and Parsons are heading for an explosion.
El Dragon
Georgia Championship Wrestling, WTBS Studio in Atlanta, Georgia, July 21st, 1984 *The show opens with highlights of The Andersons winning the AWA Georgia Tag Team Championships from Bassarab and Thornton* Schiavone: Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and welcome back to Georgia Championship Wrestling! We have an exciting show tonight, with Don Muraco, Norvell Austin, and the imposing force that is Giant Haystacks in action, as well as running down important ne.... *Schiavone is promptly shoved out of the way by a charging enraged Stan Hansen, who grabs the microphone* Hansen: Haystacks! You Dog! Ya Yella’ Belly! We aren’t waitin’ another night! You cost me Title, and we are gettin’ back in the ring, and I am beatin’ you to within an inch of your life, and then I’m shovin’ ya back on a plane back to England! Barnett, I know ya can hear me! You give me that match, or this show isn’t happenin’! Give me Haystacks! *Hanson makes his way too the ring, were Ben Alexander was waiting in the ring for his match. Alexander looks confused, and actually tries to talk Hansen down for a moment. Hanson instead Lariats Alexander in devastating fashion, and then Hansen lifts him up and dumps him outside over the top rope. Hanson is just yelling for Haystacks as Schiavone finally gets up to his feet, and is joined by Jim Barnett, who has a quick conversation off microphone, before Giant Haystacks himself makes his way to the ring, menacing the crowd and looking livid. It looks like we are getting the match!* Stan Hansen vs. Giant Haystacks This doesn’t even get in the ring before this gets crazy, as Hansen meets Haystacks on his way to the ring, and this gets violent in a hurry. The match hasn’t officially started yet, but they are already brawling out into the crowd who scatter to avoid the two giants, all while Schiavone tries to explain what went Haystacks manages to do something almost unheard of by dwarfing Hansen, and throwing him into the abandoned seats at ring side. It takes a good 2 minutes before this match even gets in the ring, and by the time it does, Hansen is already bleeding. But as big and powerful as Haystacks might be, Hansen still has a fire like few in history in him and fires back with all the fire he has, even briefly setting up Haystacks for a Piledriver, but as he was starting to lift him, David Sammartino hit the ring, and hit Hansen in the back with the Superstation Title! Winner via Disqualification in 4:17: Stan Hansen But the action doesn’t stop there, as Sammartino continues the assault on Hansen. Oddly enough Sammartino starts demanding the gargantuan Haystacks to hit Hansen with Ana Elbow Drop And Haystacks actually listens, and hits a post Match Elbow drop... but Sammartino demands Haystacks keeps hitting him with them. Wrestlers and refs are out to try to save Hansen, but Sammartino is holding them off as Haystacks hits not one, but two additional elbow drops on Hansen, who is now starting to bleed from the mouth. Finally Sammartino and Haystacks clear the ring as medical attention can be given to Hansen. Sammartino then goes to the podium to a chorus of boos, as Haystacks stands behind him, becoming almost a back drop. Sammartino: There! I told everyone! I told everyone that Hansen was just a stepping stone for me! My so called father had wars with that so called man, but my old man wasn’t half the wrestler I am! Not only have I beaten him, I just ended his career! And all it took was the one thing my Father actually did give me! Money! Ladies and Gentlemen, May I present you with my new personal bodyguard, Giant Haystacks. And Hansen is just the start. *The last thing we see on screen going into commercial is Hansen being put on a stretcher, barely being able to move* *Commercial Break* *We return from commercial break with Hansen finally being properly being stretched off completely. We see a few angles with some of the crowd crying before we cut to Schiavone Schiavone: Fans, it has been a rough week here for the wrestlers in Georgia Championship Wrestling, but that disgusting attack by David Sammartino and his supposed bodyguard Giant Haystacks was arguably a new low. We are going to head back to the ring now for some other action, but will give medical updates on Stan Hansen if any are given to us. Norvell Austin vs. Ron Slinker A pretty competitive match here, with Schiavone explaining the lack Pez Whatleys presence due to the brutal attack during the tag tournament by Jerry Blackwell and Ken Patera, announcing Pez will be out for multiple months with an injury due to lungs from the Splash by Blackwell. Austin fights hard, ends up putting away Slinker with a Top Rope Headbutt Winner in 5:17 via Pinfall, Norvell Austin Schiavone: Well Norvell, impressive victory today, but I imagine your mind is somewhere else right now. Austin: You aren’t wrong Tony. First off I want to give best wishes to not only my brother Pez, but also to Stan Hansen for that assault earlier tonight. It honestly feels like this is a dangerous place to be lately Tony. Lots of wrestlers not just trying to win, but take guys out. And I am sick of it. So, Blackwell, Patera, Sammartino, even that monster Haystacks, know that I’m not backing down and I’m gonna stop it! *As he’s finishing his sentence, Don Muraco joins him at the podium* Muraco: First off, I just want to send my own well wishes to both Stan and your friend Pez, and I just wanted to see with what I saw out there tonight, I’m in complete agreement with you Norvell. This injuring wrestlers with post match attacks has been going on too long. So I just want to let you know, regardless of my past actions, if you want some back up Norvell, you got it! *Commercial Break* Schiavone: Ladies and Gentlemen, May I present the first AWA Georgia Tag Team Champions, Ole and Arn Anderson. Ole: Oh Tony, please repeat that again, just so the idiots in the crowd who doubt the Andersons, will understand that all of there heroes couldn’t stop us, and we are the premier athlete in this sport. Reed and Parsons folded just like we thought they would, Austin was easy pickings, and Thornton and Bassarab couldn’t beat us in two tries! These belts aren’t going anywhere, and we are gonna add more. Arn: And at the Omni on the 27th, I have the biggest match in my life. I pinned Butch Reed in the tournament, and I am taking the National Title from him and becoming a double champ! Put let this be known, we are willing to accept all challengers for these Tag Belts, because there is nobody in Georgia who can take these belts off us! Kim Duk & Hiro Saito vs. The Patriots A decently competitive match as the Patriots get some nice early offense, but they eventually get put away by the superior striking ability of Duk and Saito. Saito hits his spectacular top rope Senton on Daniels for the win Winners via pinfall in 7:12: Kim Duk & Hiro Saito *Commercial Break* “Iceman” King Parsons vs. Mark Regin The Iceman has been dealing with some rough luck lately and it has seemed to jump him from troubled to actually a bit angry at the world at this point, as he just dismantles Regin here in decently short order, finishing him with a Butt Bump. Winner in 2:47 by Pinfall: “Iceman” King Parsons Iceman: Butch Reed, get out here brother, there’s something we need to talk about. *Reed makes his way the ring, belt over his shoulder* Iceman: Now, brotha, me and you can’t seem to stay out of each other’s way lately. We go way back, but every step we take seems to lead to us wanting to beat the tar out of each other. So, I say, let’s get it done! Marietta, 23rd, me and you! This ain’t about no title, this is about us figuring out where we stand with each other! Then we can figure out where we can stand after that! What do you say. Reed: You want some of this Parsons? You got it. I’m tired of these games with you, and I’m gonna end them. *Commercial Break* Schiavone: Ladies and Gentlemen, we are now being joined by Ken Patera and Jerry Blackwell. I have to ask, what was with the barbaric assault you two perpetrated a horrid assault on Pez Whatley, leaving him with a serious injury to his liver, and out for long term. How do you defend your actions. Blackwell: Oh Tony, you really are an idiot aren’t you? Why wouldn’t we do it? The idiot literally asked to face us while insulting me. Pez is simply a victim of his own stupidity. And he also is a warning to any other idiots in the back who think they can stand up to .. *Norvell Austin and Don Muraco run down to the ring in a rush, and immediately start another wild brawl both having taken umbridge at Blackwell’s talk. Patera and Blackwell proceed to brawl around ringside as the show ends*
Blehschmidt
Sammartino and Haystacks take out The Lariat!! Wow. Getting the title off that kid is gonna be tough now! Norvell may have lost Pez, but a new friend in Muraco is a pretty awesome new friend. The Anderson's hate to say they told you so, BUT, they told you so! Arn vs Butch! Hell Yeah! The Japanese contingent picks up a nice win over the Patriots, and I am sure the crowd hated every minute of it! Icemand and Reed are finally gonna thrown down and settle this crap! About time! Blackwell and Patera come out to talk some trash, and the Austin/Muraco pairing come out to shut them up! That's gonna be a fun little fight! For having to finish off someone else's storylines, and starting with half a roster, I really like what you have going on here.
kevinmcfl
Love it when Giant heels are acting as the puppet for someone else like you have with Haystacks and Sammartino and Gene has with Landell and Hercules. I like Muraco as a baby face. He is a good friend for Pez, Arn doing double duty and the match with Hacksaw will be awesome. Better watch out for Iceman! El Dragon
Live Event: July 23rd, Marietta Georgia Kim Duk and Hiro Saito defeat “Heavens Angels” of Doug Vines and Jeff Sword by Pinfall in 9:17 when Duk pinned Sword after hitting a Shoulder Breaker. The Great Kokina defeated Swede Hanson in 7:17 after hitting a Corner Avalanche Giant Haystacks w/ David Sammartino defeated Sivi Afi after hitting him with an Elbow Drop in 2:27. At Sammartinos direction, Haystacks hit an additional elbow drop after the match, before Kokina, Don Muraco, and Norvell Austin ran down to make the save. Afi still needed to be stretchered off after the match. Ole Anderson defeated Les Thornton by Pinfall in 12:46 when he hit Thornton with a Piledriver. Arn Anderson defeated Ben Bassarab by Pinfall when he pinned 10:13 when he hit him with a Spinebuster. AWA Superstation Title Match David Sammartino w/ Giant Haystacks defeats Jose Lothario by Submission 11:17 with the Figure 4 Leglock. After the match Sammartino demanded Haystacks take out Lothario, but The Great Kokina saves Lothario and brawled with Haystacks. Lothario would then lock Sammartino in a Sleeper Hold as the crowd went wild. Don Muraco & Norvell Austin fought Ken Patera and Jerry Blackwell to a Double Disqualification in 6:17. This barely even resembled a match, as Austin was fired up to get his hands on Patera and Blackwell again, and Muraco was just as heated. After a bit of a brawl around ringside, Patera and Blackwell retreated and Austin and Muraco stood tall. Main Event Grudge Match “Hacksaw” Butch Reed and “Iceman” King Parsons went to a No Contest in 18:13 when after both men Clotheslined each other, Kim Duk and Hiro Saito attacked both men. Saito and Duk would handcuff Butch Reed to the ring ropes, and then tee off on Parsons with chair shots to his knee. Eventually Norvell Austin and Don Muraco made there way down to run off the two Japanese competitors, but Iceman was left unable to put any weight on his leg post Match. Blehschmidt
Duk and Saito appear to be turning into a formidable little tag team, and pick up a nice win. Kokina and Haystacks each pick up a win, but the real story is Haystacks taking out Afi, which will certainly lead to a clash between these two monsters!! The Andersons both pick up wins in singles competition. Especially good for Arn leading to his match with Reed. Sammartino is on a roll and gets a nice win against Lothario. David is apparently blood thirsty tonight and tries to have Haystacks take him out, but here comes Kokina and it's on! Austin and Muraco fight it out with Blackwell and Patera and the whole thing gets tossed out. Not shocked at that one! These two teams are gonna have some wars! Sounds like Reed and Parsons were having a good one, but Duk and Saito decided to take a step up in competition! They take out the Iceman, and it sure seems like Austin and Muraco have turned into the cavalry around here! Good show! Like where you are taking things, and I never thought I would say this.... you've made David Sammartino interesting!
SirEdger
I'm gonna give you mad props for really turning that roster into something REALLY fun in a short amount of time. You've been doing great works to mold that territory exactly like you want it and you've done some great moves with rosters & angles to make Georgia Championship Wrestling a very compelling territory. spaldoni
Haystacks is going nuts and taking everybody out! I've got to give it to David, smart move acquiring that monster as his body guard. Kokina is looking strong and might be heading for a big showdown with Haystacks. Muraco adds muscle to the babyface side as he helps out Norvell. Andersons as champs feels so right. Reed and Ice Man fight it out but are attacked by Duk and Saito! Great angle here. I agree with Edger, you've done a great job in a short amount of time. Keep up the great work. AWA Superstation Title Match Gary Young defeats David Sammartino w/Giant Haystacks by Count Out in 9:18 when, during the match, Great Kokina ran down and brawled with Giant Haystacks.
