Because he's Paul.

That shuts me down.

Well... I wrote a lot more than just that sentence. :)

But Paul is like Lano or Shannon Rose or other noted Wrestling Liars. One always takes a step back on something he says and think a bit about it. In this case, it just doesn't add up unless there was something in the WON back in 2005 about it, even if not explicitly identifying Paul.

I think Paul is busting his hump to be relevant, and being The Most Knowledgable Pro Wrestling Guy About MMA seems to be what he's trying to put a lot of stock into.

Sorry jdw just did want to requote your post in full no insult intended.

What was the deal with Shannon Rose?

Maybe I'm remembering the wrong guy. Bix - was Rose that young fan from the late 90s who didn't seem quite all there?

John

"Shannon Rose started his career in pro wrestling at the age of 12 with a public access cable show that ran for 7 years in Tampa along with working for Championship Wrestling from Florida. Gordon Solie and Dusty Rhodes gave Shannon his start as a ring announcer. 16 years later Shannon remains "The Voice of Florida Wrestling" and has worked for NWA, ECW, and many other wrestling promotions. He also has managed, wrestled, refereed, and has run a wrestling hotline for the St. Petersburg, Times."

I don't remember any ridiculous lies as much as him being slightly less abrasive Blake Norton type.

PWInsider:

TNA Wrestling has released former X-Division and Tag Team champion Homicide, PWInsider.com has confirmed. Homicide, a former Ring of Honor champion, had been with TNA since 2005 and at one point, was part of one of the hottest acts in TNA, the LAX group with Konnan and Hernandez.

Homicide had hardly been used since the Bischoff/Hogan regime began, mostly used on Xplosion bouts before being used in an injury angle to further the Hernandez-Matt Morgan storyline with the idea that TNA would reform LAX down the line. Obviously, that will not come to pass.

Homicide recently relocated back to the Northeast, so I'd expect to see him back working for a lot of his old haunts soon.

I’m sad to see someone get fired but realistically he seemed to be totally miserable and misused for years. I wonder if WWE would touch him?

I don't see a spot for him in the WWE. He's too small and doesn't have anything really special to make him standout a la Evan Bourne. I'm guessing sooner or later he's back to ROH or working for Sapolsky.

Well Cornette loves him at least.

Maybe he can appear on Colt's podcast as Bull Pain did this week: http://tsmradio.com/coltcabana/2010/08/19/aow-show-4/

Bought the Jake Roberts WWE DVD for five bucks at Wal-Mart, and one of the things that struck me was just how uncomfortable the angle was where Jake had the cobra bite Randy Savage on the arm. I mean, it was a cool visual and I know they de-venomized the snake, but still, to just allow that snake to bite Randy in the arm and then Jake be forced to shake the snake to get him off was one of those times when it was clear some folks just weren't thinking when they OK'ed that spot.

And as I recall, quite a few TV stations dumped WWF's syndicated programs at that point.

Is it just me or does it seem like the whole Alberto Del Rio gimmick is like some kind of obscure rib at Mil Mascaras? Dave's even mentioned a couple of times how much the gimmick matches the real Mil (or at least the impression he left on people). I did like him having his own personal lucha style ring announcer, that was a nice touch.

I dont understand it either. I thought the reference points were obviously a Mexican JBL, Rick Martel with a hint of Salavore Sincere. I thought it was an awesone debut except WWE didnt know how to shoot Del Rio's finisher.

Pretty sure they took out both the fangs and the venom sacks. Whatever teeth the snake had were soft.

I know it's redundant to talk about TNA being stupid and all, but even their online store seems to have issues. I order a shirt and three DVDs during their big sale. I get an email telling me they've been shipped USPS and two different tracking numbers. One is a USPS # and when I clicking the link I get a screen saying that it's invalid. The other is a FedEx number, and it shows a package leaving Nashville yesterday and en Route to Syracuse.

I'm not sure that's due to stupidity, it may be more due to desperate cost cutting. From this week's Observer:

There was the feeling that the company was not losing money in 2008 and 2009, and now there are cutbacks being made everywhere, people being paid late and the financial situation is very much different.

I dont care that promotion needs all the help in the world.

Do you think Paul really is the man to help Strikeforce? What does his "creativity" bring to the table?

Not exactly arguing with you, but more curious on what Paul brings to the table to elevate Strikeforce to the next level?

What's Brock's contract status with UFC because I don't know.

Now that would be interesting.

Brock is the biggest draw, and stealing him would make things interesting. But he is just one fighter (2-3 PPVs a year). Strikeforce would need to steal several stars, because we've seen UFC has done quite well even when their heavyweight division blows. In turn, Strikeforce would need to capitalize on having Brock... and I'm not sure that they can.
