rovert
*insert requisite Who joke here* Catching up on shoots at the moment. Jim Cornette made some comments on his collection which might be of interest to some on his Lost Questions DVD: He estimated he has 3,000 Wrestling DVDs/tapes. His prized piece of memorabilia is his signed volumes of every St. Louis Wrestling program ever. He said he never read Bryan Alverez in print outside of his occasional Smackdown reviews in the Observer, which surprised me as Bryan devoted a lot of his newsletter to OVW and I thought Jim would get a kick out of Bryan especially during that era. Guest Cobra Commander
I'm pretty sure Jim Cornette watching Wrestlerock Rumble is the pinnacle of all shoot moments and that YouShoot can just shut down now. Although the shoot industry has led to some shitty resurgences for some dudes (HTM, Iron Sheik) Also.. we're all on crugs was the runnerup to we're all in love for the shitty MTV edit of that Weezer classic

His face when he sees Hennig and Hall stepping out of the pool is priceless. "Ohhhhh". Nick Bockwinkel did a better rap than anyone else, this old asshole ruled so much. kjh
From James Caldwell: -- Regarding the Tag Title match change at No Surrender, the popular belief backstage among many of the TNA wrestlers was that Desmond Wolfe failed a physical due to head trauma/concussion history. It's the same issue that reportedly led to WWE reneging their offer to Wolfe (then known as Nigel McGuinness) in late 2009, leading to Wolfe signing with TNA. I'm a bit sceptical of this story, because lord knows they've pushed some really messed up, physical wrecks in their time. But it's really scary if true. It jives with Magnus's tweet of that: Gutted that we couldn’t face the guns for the titles, but there’s a valid reason which I can’t discuss. Rest assured we will get our shot. Along with TNA stating it was a personal issue. But of flies in the face of Meltzer's statement that it was a disciplinary issue (I think was the phrase). If true Nigel really did a total number on himself in ROH. Going back to shoots the Iron Shiek, Missy Hyatt and Kanyon roundtable is the same old shit with Missy with some horrible opinions debating Kanyon on gay marriage attached. For those who were very disappointed the Dreamer/Raven Face Off DVD due Tommy being morose, Raven saying the exact same stuff he always says and Feinstein’s being unprepared by even his standards despite experiencing their feud first hand. Face Off 10 where they commentate on their matches is worlds better and probably RF Video’s best release in a good while.
rovert
Speaking of quirks, linguistic and otherwise According to PWInsider.com, Lindsay Hayward, the 6-9, 240-pound woman given the name Aloisia for the third season of NXT, was actually dropped from the program due to erotic photos WWE officials uncovered of the giant grappler shortly after her television premiere last Tuesday. The reported reason of Hayward being pulled from the program due to being deemed ‘not ready’ is said to be a cover excuse. A set of photographs labeled “Tall Amazons Erotica” depict Hayward in a manner unbecoming to World Wrestling Entertainment’s family friendly product. A number of the shots feature Aloisia positioned erotically, including nude. There are also images of the she-giant engaging pleasantries with a petite blonde woman. The storyline reason given for Hayward’s hastily dismissal from NXT was that Aloisia had been fired by her Pro, Vickie Guerrero, after an argument over her influence. Guerrero will reveal her new Rookie Diva during tonight’s season 3 premiere. Hayward currently remains under contract to WWE.

rovert
Is that from Lords of Paste? If so, I l despise their flowery re-wording of news stories. Yep I let my PWInsider account lapse so I don’t know who wrote that. Still I didn’t know engaging pleasantries was a euphemism.
Jingus
The photos are nothing special, Maxim-type bullshit. Here, look for yourself. No real nudity, nothing terribly naughty at all. "Exchanging pleasantries" is just a euphemism for "two chicks standing next to each other and apparently having a conversation". No way they actually canned her over that shit, not when they still employ several women who've done actual naked photoshoots before. I am at a loss to why they replaced her, though. I have seen her wrestle, and no, she's not any good. But neither are any of the other women they kept for NXT. Good lord, did you guys see that steaming turd of a show? It was everything I hate most about sports entertainment, condensed into one unwatchable hour.

Jingus
No, I tracked them down myself, it wasn't hard. The Rajah story listed the name of the company which supposedly took the photos, "Hot Tall Amazons" or something like that. Pop it in a google image search, and it's the very first link. She has a statement? What did she say?

rovert
I thought the Bull Pain one was the best one. Well I knew Bull Pain was going to be the "sentimental" favourite on here but in terms of chemistry between guest and host there was a bit of a generational gap but Adam and Colt are like are double act in places. kjh
Sean Radican of the Torch has only read the first 33 pages of Countdown To Lockdown and he's already calling it "self-depricating torture": Each chapter of Foley's latest tome comes with a wrestling meter that is supposed to help wrestling fans skip around the book. I think a "Foley Is Full of Himself" meter is necessary, as I'd like to skip any more chapters where Foley talks about himself in a self-depricating manner when it's blatently obvious that he's anything but self-depricating. Not that this should come as any surprise to anyone that has been following Foley of late.
rovert
Obviously Foley has been totally unbearable recently not only in what he writes but how he writes it too (see Meltzer blog), does anyone think Folely was just really lucky to have really good editors/proofers for his first three books? Or do you guy's think his unbearableness was relatively recently acquired aspect of his character.
MikeCampbell
I think it was recently acquired upon the realization that time has passed him by and he's not the big mega-star that he was when he wrote his first two books.
rovert
Matt Hardy on Twitter "critizing" Wrestling reporters/readz the sheetz: Gonna do something I've never done. The IWC "pro wrestling writers" always critize us-now I'm gonna critize them-this wil be interestesting. Mr. Woodward is very respectful & actually has an understanding of our product.. He gets it, & I respect him for it-keep up the good work. N Bazar gets it to a degree-he respect the hard work the boys put it-he's a fair critic. WK & JC just try 2 make themselves seem cool & witty & they're not. They're like a tabloid-opinions & gossip. Try & report what counts guys. Meltzer tries to report & cover the facts, which I appreciate. Unlike WK & JC who trash the boyz to stir it up 2 feel like they have power. JP at .net tries to stick to the facts, which is what a journalist should do if they respect the business, can't say the same for his staff Shore, who works under JP, is a complete moron & has no business writing anything about the business, he's from NC-hope to meet him 1 day.. And JP's other guys are hit & miss, mainly miss. Fact is, if you've never REALLY worked in the business, u don't know the business. Period. I just woke up & felt like writing-I was inspired. Whether u love me or hate me, I've sacrificed my body (willingly) for this business. Cuz even when I'm gone, the guys busting their asses for this business should be respected if you're a true "fan" or "journalist" I don't want to leave out the IWC writers that are respectful of the boyz & business-Thank You. There's some out there, not gonna deny it. The last year I've dealt with overwhelming, out of my control physical issues, but kept on keepin on. Glad some guys had fun at my expense. That's what prob triggered my tweets tonight. But times are a changin.. and it wont be just physically.. it's also mentally.. I AM AWAKE! Realize this-no one can affect me, rattle me, or intimidate me-I have no fear or doubt in this world. Cuz I worked hard to get myself there. I must say the Keller and Hardy catty relationship is one of my favourite things to follow as both seem obessed with each other. Rarely taking the Meltzer style high road. Clearly Matt rates based on whether people make fun of his weight. Interestingly Matt snubbed Alverez I guess because he apologises before gleefully mentioning Matt's shape. P.S. I really hope Matt beats up Shore.
MikeCampbell
I've sacrificed my body (willingly) for this business. Cuz even when I'm gone, the guys busting their asses for this business should be respected if you're a true "fan" or "journalist" The quote above is one of the most annoying things about wrestlers and really anyone involved in the business when they get butthurt over being criticized. Regarding "Sacrificing" their bodies for the business, number one that was their own choice to make, it's not like the WWE universe collective told Vince that unless Matt Hardy dived off a cage through a table, then they'd stop watching the shows. Number two, I'm recalling a great quote that I believe was posted on either DVDR or tOA a few years back. Something along the lines of the wrestlers not sacrificing their bodies "for the business" but rather sacrificing "wrestling" by doing all those stupid bumps and insane stunts that lead to serious injury and shorten careers. As far as being a "fan" I'll refrain from going on a rant, and I'll just say that Matt should realize that a true fan won't just clap and play along, but the true fan would probably tell him that taking falling fifteen feet from a ladder through a table is stupid on his part, when he's a good enough wrestler to get by on that. Sean Liska
For years, us internet fans were perplexed by how Matt Hardy's push never matched his popularity. We only heard vague things about how people in power didn't like him. Thanks to Twitter and YouTube, we now know the reason - the guy is a huge pain in the ass. No wonder he's always getting buried, it must be tough to resist the opportunity to screw with the guy.
