The leaderless Chosen Ones fall to the Olympians.

Gama nearly gets shown up by the past his prime Stevens & has to play dirty to leave with some dignity.

Kirchner loses the match but certainly gets his payback.

Busick retains meaning Morrow is out 2 million dollars.

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, the six man chain match is an all out war. Great ending visual with Morgan hanging Sawyer.

Vin Man pays dividends for Kelly in the taped fist match,

Bullet Bob has officially run the entire Fuller clan out of the AWA.

The Original Midnights pick up the win but the real story is Taylor turns on Zenk!

After a classic southern style main event, Jerry Lawler returns & costs Tommy Rich the world title! Congratulations to the NEW AWA World Champion Dick Slater!

Some really good stuff out of the AWA. A couple of bright spots... Ricky Steamboat is the highlight of night one... without question he is what I'd consider the next in line to be the MAN in AWA. Terry Taylor and Tom Zenk as a tag team is very good in my book. Way to utilize their talents.  The Sheepherders make good with a huge victory.  Finally... Lawler comes back and Dick Slater walks out with the title... AWA continues to make headlines.

The show kicks off with "Shoot to Thrill" by ACDC as all the highlights of WrestleRock are shown.

Lance: Hello everybody and welcome to another exciting edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Well, WrestleRock is in the books and my goodness what an event it was. Two nights of wrestling, tailgate parties and of course great concert performances by Billy Squire and The Doobie Brothers. A lot of wrestlers are still recovering from their WrestleRock matches and wont be here tonight. However, we do have a solid show lined up. The main event will be Jerry Allen taking on the returning Billy Jack Strong. Unfortunately I have some rather bad news. At WrestleRock, we saw a wild world title match along with a returning Jerry Lawler. Dick Slater defeated Tommy Rich to win the AWA world title. I hate to be the one to announce this, but Tommy Rich is still the AWA world champ. I repeat, Tommy Rich is still the AWA world champ. I'm going to show you exclusive footage from the locker room and what happened right after that match.

Sunday May 29th- Liberty Bowl Locker Room

Ken Resnick: Fans, I'm here with the new AWA world champion, Dick Slater. Congratulations Dick. That was just incredible.

Slater: Thank you very much Ken. I said I came to the AWA with one goal in mind (holds title up) and I just accomplished it! It feels damn good!

Resnick: I'm sure it does. I understand Jerry Jarrett is on his way in. Ok, here he comes.

Jarrett: Dick, that was one hell of a match and there's no doubt in my mind that you deserve it. It breaks my heart to tell you that I'm going to have to give the belt back to Tommy Rich.

Resnick: I certainly wasn't expecting this...

Slater: Whoa, wait a minute! What the hell are you talking about?

Jarrett: I just spoke to the original referee and he explained his decision. The last thing he saw was Baby Doll knocking him out with her purse. He did see her do it but was unconscious and couldn't signal for a DQ. I know Jerry Lawler brought down another official and you ended up pinning Tommy. Normally I would accept this decision but because the original official saw Baby Doll do what she did, I have to go with his call. Dick, I'm truly sorry and you will get a rematch.

Slater: (Processing all this) After all that son of a bitch Tommy Rich put me through, you're just going to come in and take this title away from me? What the hell kind of clown operation are you running here Jarrett?

Jarrett: I know you're upset and I would be to. I assure you Dick, you will get a rematch. Please, hand over the title and let me set the match up.

Slater looks at the title.

Slater: You want this title Jarrett? Fair enough, here you go.

Slater knocks Jarrett out with the title! Slater then drops the title on Jarrett's chest and walks out.

Back Live

Lance: (shaking his head) Wow, I know that was a lot to take in. Tommy Rich is still AWA world champion. I know Dick Slater was very upset and I can't blame him. However, he crossed a line and hit the President. Because of that, Dick Slater was suspended. I don't think it mattered because I understand Slater quit. It sure put a sour taste on WrestleRock, What a shame. Fans, we'll be right back.

Commercial Break

Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka vs. Todd Rooney

snuka.jpg.96e95419cbbdc9b69d07261afa06ad3f.jpg

After that opening, the fans needed something to cheer about. Who better, than a returning Jimmy Snuka?

Snuka looks in peak condition as he takes it to his opponent. Snuka bodyslams Rooney, climbs to the top rope, flashes the 'I love you' and hits the Superfly Splash for the win!

Resnick: Ok, Jimmy Snuka, welcome back. You made quite an impact at WrestleRock, when you hit the scene and helped Kokina. You ended up hitting Curtis Iaukea with the Superfly Splash. Nobody has heard from Iaukea since.

Snuka: Brother, I was just happy to be at WrestleRock. But, when I saw TNT spray that mist in Kokina's eyes and Iaukea get in there with his kendo stick, I had to help my Brutha Kokina. Kokina will be back soon. When that happens, he has new partner. Kokina and The Superfly, Polynesian Power brother!

Commercial Break

Gama Singh vs. Trent Watkins

gama.jpg.70375d753acb4193d4ddcd336cbd3028.jpg

Gama looks in top form as he easily outwrestles Watkins and wins the match with a cobra clutch.

Resnick: Gama, your impressive win streak continues.

Gama: Of course! I have never been more focused in my life. It is now time for my title shot! It's long overdue! El Canek! I'm challenging you for the AWA International title! Be ready!

Commercial Break

Resnick: Fans, my guest at this time, still reigning AWA world champion, Tommy Wildfire Rich, along with Baby Doll.

tommy.jpg.3df03030a01d7e69bfbf8ecf64dcb877.jpg2105483320_babydoll.jpg.7988824becd399ba1f2ff833033414d5.jpg

Thundering boos! Tommy's wearing a T-Shirt that says "Predictable outcome at WrestleRich" Tommy stops, kisses the title and holds it up as the fans are up and booing.

Baby Doll: Resnick! You better watch your manners!

Rich: I hate to say I told you so, but I told you! I told you! I told you! I walked in WrestleRich with the world title and damn it I walked out with the world title! Not even that stupid jackass Jerry Lawler could ruin WrestleRich! Lawler! I ran you out of town 6 months ago and if you're here for more, I'll run you out again! You see Resnick, nobody can ruin my high. Man, it's great to be me!

Resnick: I don't know. Baby Doll sure played a major factor in you retaining. And let's not forget, Slater did pin your shoulders. I guess luck was on your side. And yea, I'm sure you're happy now with Dick Slater leaving.

Rich: Boy, you really are a downer. Hey, fair is fair, The original referee should get a bonus for his decision. And as for Dick Slater. What? You just can't go around hitting the President. Slater should be locked up. All I can say is, to bad Dicky. Maybe we'll cross paths again someday. For now, Baby Doll and the champ have more celebrating to do. So long Resnick.

Commercial Break

Resnick: Fans....

Outback Jack storms in.

Jack: WrestleRock was suppose to be my night but that sook Putski ruined everything! He was bloody lucky and I want him in the ring, right here, right now!

Jack gets in the ring and yells at the Ref.

Cheers as Scott Putski comes out, nodding his head.

The Ref shrugs his shoulders and calls for the bell.

Outback Jack vs. Scott "Powerhouse" Putski

outback.jpg.4bd362532fa54c76393220884b6973ea.jpgputski.jpg.67044e38c0e3ca3225c6eefa28899ee0.jpg

The bell rings and Jack charges Putski and nails him with a running forearm blast! Jack stomps on Putski, picks him up, swings him to the ropes and goes for a back drop but Putski hits a sunset flip 1..2..Kick Out! Both men rise as Putski hits a standing dropkick on Jack. Jack staggers up as Putski scoop slams him down and follows with a jumping elbow drop 1..2..Kick Out. Putski swings Jack into the corner and charges in but Jack nails him with his boot.

Jack clears the cobwebs. Putski slowly rises and Jack puts him down with a clothesline 1..2..Kick Out. Jack picks up Putski and hits a backbreaker 1..2..Kick Out. Jack picks up Pustki, swings him to the ropes but misses a clothesline, Putski swings back and clotheslines Jack down. Putski regroups, swings Jack to the ropes and hits a powerslam! Putski picks up Jack, swings him to the ropes and hits the Polish Hammer 1..2..3! Big POP!

Once again, Putski stands tall as Jack lays there wondering what hit him.

Commercial Break

"Terrific" Terry Taylor vs. Vic Dutro

terry.jpg.ce70889ab72e95eb5c0072aa94ae01a8.jpg

Taylor gets some serious heat during the match. Taylor hurls Dutro out of the ring. Taylor goes out, slams Dutro's head on the apron and hurls him back in the ring. Taylor swings Dutro to the ropes and hits the flying 5 arm for the win!

Resnick: Terry Taylor, you have a lot of explaining to do. Why did you turn on your partner Tom Zenk like that? I really thought you two were going places here.

Taylor: Yea, so did I. And then because of my so called partner, we lost to the Midnight Express at a huge event. Tom Zenk blew it and Tom Zenk can fend for himself from now on. I don't have time to lose because I'm a winner. Tom Zenk on the other hand is nothing but a loser. Terrific Terry Taylor is now his own man and the sky's the limit!

Commercial Break

We see a nice magazine photo of Tatsumi Fujinami and Jumbo Tsuruta holding up the AWA world titles and National titles.

Resnick: Fans, has there been a more dominate team in wresting than Tatsumi Fujinami and Jumbo Tsuruta? Due to the rules of the AWA, a team can not hold both sets of titles. I understand next week, we're going to find out the status of the AWA National titles.

Boos as The Quebec Coalition and Frenchy Martin come out.

Frenchy: It is obvious after my team's tremendous performance at WrestleRock that we should be awarded with de National Titles.

Charland and LeFon are smiling and nodding.

There's a commotion as the British Bombers walk out.

Dave: Don't get ahead of yourselves. The British Bombers deserve those titles just as much as you do. (Smith nods behind him)

ResnickGentlemen, please. We will all hear the announcement next week. Both teams have a legitimate case. I'm sure you'll be heard.

Commercial Break

The Bruise Brothers vs. Clinton Stitch and Arnie Goldstein

Snowman hits an atomic drop on Goldstein, as Cameron blasts him with a running double axehandle to the back of the head for the win!

The fans cheer as the Bruise Brothers give each other a double fist bump.

Commercial Break

Brenda Britton is on screen in front of an AWA banner.

britton.jpg.5aec91034fa6881ddb8f0e304ad2e2e2.jpg

Britton: I'm so angry right now! I know you all were wondering where I was at WrestleRock. Well, I went backstage to get ready for my performance with Billy Squire but his security escorted me out of the stadium! Nobody would return my calls and because of that I missed Night 2! I hate everybody! The AWA better make this up to me or else! (Angry face) Tooodles!

Commercial Break

Resnick: With me now is Jerry Allen. Jerry, you're about to get in the ring but I know you have an announcement for us.

Allen: Thank you Ken. I just wanted to say. my Lightning Strike partner Tim Horner has left the AWA to pursue other endeavors. He wanted me to thank all the AWA fans and their overwhelming support for Lightning Strike. Tim is my good friend and I wish him the best of luck. I learned a lot from him. Well Ken, it's time to go solo again. Alright!

Billy Jack Strong vs. Jerry "Alright" Allen

billy.jpg.0c6386f5a8b4fc47568d78e9a72f1fdc.jpgallen.jpg.b44fa23b3fe60e2e4393e56f48362e22.jpg

Allen waits in the ring as the returning Billy Jack Strong enters.

The bell rings. They lock up and Strong muscles Allen back into the corner. The ref calls for a break. Strong slowly lets go, then blasts Allen with a cheap punch. Strong unloads on Allen, then hip tosses him. Strong picks up Allen and slams him down. Strong hops on the middle ropes and hits a knee drop 1..2..Kick Out. Strong swings Allen to the corner and charges in but Allen moves. Strong hits hard as Allen rolls him up 1..2..Kick Out.

Allen swings Strong to the ropes and back drops him. Allen shakes the cobwebs. Strong gets up as Allen dropkicks him down. Allen goes to the middle ropes and hits an elbow drop 1..2..Kick Out. Commercial Break

Resnick: Fans, please welcome back to the AWA, Jerry "The King" Lawler!

lawler.jpg.7202793afa6a4c006d2626dc2929d3ac.jpg

The fans are up and cheering as Lawler comes out smiling. He raises his fist to them and nods.

Resnick: Welcome back King! It's great to see you. Just listen to these fans. They feel the same.

Lawler: Ken, It's great to be back home and it's great to see all my fans again!

Resnick: You made quite the return at WrestleRock. However, I'm sure you were disappointed at the aftermath.

Lawler: For months I've watched Tommy Rich make a complete ass of himself. He's done nothing but disgrace the world title. I really was trying to help Dick Slater and give him the fair shake he deserved. We all saw how that turned out. I really wish Slater had controlled his emotions because I know he would have won that title eventually. Jerry Jarrett was clocked pretty good and is at home resting. I'm just sorry all this had to happen. Now! As for you Tommy Rich. You and I have unfinished business and I'm here to take care of it. Rich! Your days are numbered because the King is back!

AWA kicks off with a highlight reel set to a Megaman approved theme.

Oh damn! Jarrett breaks out the Dusty finish & awards the title back to Rich! Slater ain't having it & clobbers the boss with the title before heading to Chicago.

I agree, the fans needed a pick-me-up & the Superfly always delivers. Looking forward to Polynesian Power.

Gama is certainly ready for that title shot. Canek may be in trouble.

Jack tries for payback on Putski but it ends the same as on WrestleRock.

"Terrific" Terry Taylor is already an getting on fans nerves.

Jumbo & Fujinami's run as duel champions is cut short due to company rules. But good news is we've already got intrigue on how we're gonna crown new National champs.

The Bruise Brothers always a delight to see.

HAHAHAHA! I completely forgot about Brenda during WrestleRock but that story cracked me up.

Billy Jack Strong returns with a convincing win over Allen.

And of course, there's no better way to close the show than with the return of the King. His rematch with Rich is gonna be war.

Lance Russell: Hello everybody and welcome to another exciting edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Tonight, you'll see The Glamour Boys take on the Original Midnight Express. Wendell Cooley goes one on one with Kerry Brown.  Also in action will be Jerry Blackwell, Corporal Kirchner, Kevin Kelly, Rip Morgan, British Bombers, Quebec Coalition. And listen to this main event, Bob Armstrong goes up against The Dream Machine. Ok fans, please welcome out the AWA world champion, Tommy Rich along with Baby Doll.

Thundering boos as Baby Doll leads Tommy to the podium.

Baby Doll: Just hold on a minute Lance, the champ has some important things to say.

Rich: Lance, you and I both know that I'm the hottest thing in wrestling. You can say I'm on fire, wildfire baby! I'm standing here holding this AWA world title with the upmost pride. So! I take offense to the comments made by that jackass of a clown, Jerry Lawler. He called me a disgrace. He's the disgrace! I sent him packing months ago and now he's weaseled his way back and is trying to get a title shot. Lawler! You can't just come back and start making ridiculous demands boy. Lance, he hasn't fought anybody yet and therefore I wont give him a title shot. I don't have to!

Lance: Ok, just relax Tommy. Next weekend at the Rupp Arena, Jerry Lawler will be back in action, taking on Gerry Morrow.

Rich: Now that's what I'm talking about! Take it to him Gerry! Well then, Baby Doll, lets get out of this dump. The sooner, the better.

Lance: Hang on Tommy. You will also be in the Rupp Arena next week, Because you'll be defending the AWA world title against Jerry Blackwell.

Rich: (Pauses, then bursts out laughing) That fat guy? Is Jarrett serious? (Shakes his head) I'm done here.

Rich and Baby Doll exit.

Commercial Break

The British Bombers vs. Vic Dutro and Willie Lopez

Bombers start off strong and never let up. The end comes when Smith clips Dutro behind the knee as Dave hits the spinning forearm blast!

Resnick: Bombers look impressive. On that note, I've been informed that on July 2nd at the Mecca in Milwaukee, the Bombers will face The Quebec Coalition for the vacant AWA National tag titles.

Commercial Break

Corporal Kirchner vs. Zane Blitzer

kirchner.jpg.a7dbc455e6129723c65548500bec3f3f.jpg

The fans cheer as Kirchner comes to the ring waving the American Flag. Kirchner is still wearing the eye patch but it doesn't seem to bother him as he hits the Fireman's Carry Slam for the win.

Resnick: Corporal Kirchner, at WrestleRock, Jose Estrada got the DQ win but he left in pretty bad shape. I understand he'll be out of action for awhile.

Kirchner: Ken, the last thing I want to do is maliciously injure an opponent. But Estrada was different. Look what he did to my eye! He brought out the worse in me and what happened was the definition of an eye for an eye!

WHAM! Kirchner is nailed from behind by Grizzly Boone! Boone picks up Kirchner and slams him on the concrete!

boone.jpg.aa44af1a20fb06040babc66d7da137c4.jpg

Resnick: Grizzly Boone! What is this all about?

Boone: It's Commando Boone! That weakling you see laying there is first on the list! One by one, they're all going down!

Boone storms off.

Resnick: I have no idea what that was all about.

Resnick goes to check on Kirchner.

Commercial Break

The Glamour Boys vs. The Original Midnight Express w/Norvell Austin

simpson.jpg.8a24c045e095a2272a24a2c3d5fa33bc.jpgsdoll.jpg.9546a5251ff01c4e4a0a2930b7489d4e.jpgmidnites.jpg.c8ee58e1244698a8e5e3d07b1cd8e14d.jpg

Pretty fun fast paced bout that goes back and forth. Glamour Boys show off their high octane moves while the Midnight's showcase their tremendous double team maneuvers. The action never lets up as the 10 minute time limit expires. Both teams stare at each other as Norvell enters the ring. Midnight's start to walk away, then turn around and attack the Glamour Boys. Norvell gets in on it and it's 3 on 2. Midnight's hit a double hot shot on Simpson, then follow with a double flapjack on Doll. Boos as Norvell raises the Midnight's arms. Norvell leads his Express to ringside.

Norvell: Those punks don't realize how lucky they are. My Midnight Express are just getting warmed up at the 10 minute mark. We just showed those pretty boys who the real winners are!

Commercial Break

We come back and see a man walking down an alley. He steps up to the camera.

"Bad News Brown is coming to the AWA! You've been warned!"

1523393988_badnews.jpg.f11c2fc3ef6a3d2afbd8ef4b160b3e85.jpg

ResnickThat was ominous. Switching gears, I wanted to mention that Al Perez is on a Puerto Rican tour. Along those lines, joining me now is his former AWA National Tag Team championship partner, Larry Zbyszko.

Boos as Larry comes out jawing with the fans.

1484051026_larryz.jpg.191b83bb9ed53893bacae554b010d3fc.jpg

Resnick: Larry, I understand that you and Al have decided to go separate ways. I also understand that next week at the Rupp Arena, you will be facing Ricky Steamboat and the winner will be in line for a world title shot.

Larry: Wow Ken, you're really on your game tonight. It's about time and I'm impressed. Al and myself were in top form as National champs. We've just come to a point where we want to achieve some single's goals. Which brings me to that spudhead Ricky Steamboat. Steamboat! You're an obstacle in my way to the world title. An obstacle I'll knock down.

Resnick: Never at a loss for words. Let's hear some pre recorded comments from Ricky Steamboat.

steamboat.jpg.f258382c5b574a8f90e2e8565b4ed890.jpg

Ricky's walking down a beach.

Steamboat: It's been quite a year for me. I was on top of the world for nearly a year, when I was the reigning AWA world champ. And then my world came crashing down, thanks to Carlos Colon. Beating Colon at WrestleRock is something I will cherish forever. Now that I conquered him, I get the chance to go for the title again. It's me and you Larry Zbyszko. I want the title again and Larry, you're not stopping me.

Commercial Break

Outback Jack is in the ring.

outback.jpg.4bd362532fa54c76393220884b6973ea.jpg

Jack: Enough is enough! I want that bloke Putski, one more time! If I lose, I'll quit the AWA! Putski! Get out here!

The fans are puzzled when Rip Morgan comes out. Morgan swings his chain around, then storms the ring and clotheslines Jack with it! Morgan wraps the chain around Jack's neck and hangs him over the top rope! Jack wrenches away like a madman. Security runs in to stop this. Morgan chokes away, then finally releases. Morgan goes to the outside. Officials run over to help Jack. Morgan pushes them out of the way and starts hitting a helpless Jack with his chain. Morgan runs over to Resnick. Resnick drops his mic and runs. Morgan picks it up.

Morgan: That man is nothing but a loser! He needs to hang his head in shame and go back down under!

rip.jpg.79204e93ea07378975a297575080f041.jpg

Martin waves the Canadian Flag as Charland puts Moss down with an inverted piledriver. Charland tags in LeFon. LeFon swings off the ropes and hits a senton for the win.

Martin cuts a promo and says the Coalition have the upmost respect for the British Bombers and may the best team win the AWA National Tag Team Titles.

Commercial Break

"Wildcat" Wendell Cooley w/Nelson Royal vs. "The Master of Disaster" Kerry Brown

Kerry starts off with a bang as he has Cooley bouncing all over. Nelson tries to interfere but Kerry takes care of that quick. Kerry back drops Cooley. Cooley staggers up as Kerry clotheslines him down 1..2..Kick Out. Kerry swings Cooley into the corner and charges but Cooley moves.

Cooley regroups and stomps away on Kerry. Cooley hoists Kerry up and throat shots him on the top rope. Cooley clamps a headlock on Kerry and hits a running bulldog 1..2..Kerry gets his foot on the rope. Cooley argues with the Ref while Nelson yanks Kerry out of the ring. Nelson picks up Kerry but Kerry punches away on Nelson.

WHAM! Kerry is hit from behind with a cowbell by JESSE BARR! Cooley comes out and they double team Kerry. The Ref signals for the DQ. Cooley and Barr double clothesline Kerry with the rope and cowbell!

barr2.jpg.eabe2eaf7b0ad1ccca73c7822c17ff69.jpg

Resnick: That was deplorable! Nelson Royal, Wendell Cooley and Jesse Barr, obviously the three of you are in cahoots.

Nelson: Very observant Resnick. At WrestleRock, Wendell Cooley put down that urban cowboy Blackjack Mulligan. Wendell Cooley proved he is the toughest cowboy around. Well, what's better than one tough cowboy? How about two? (Laughs) You're looking at Wendell Cooley and Jesse Barr, the Wild Bunch!

Commercial Break

Brenda Britton is standing in front of an AWA banner.

britton.jpg.5aec91034fa6881ddb8f0e304ad2e2e2.jpg

Britton: Well, since my debacle at WrestleRock, the AWA has made amends, as well as they should have. Next week, the Beauty Shop returns with a brand new sign. And, my guest will be my best friend Gerry Morrow. Now that makes me happy. Until next week, toooodles!

"Mr. Magnificent" Kevin Kelly w/The Vin Man vs. Arnie Goldstein

Kelly clamps on the full nelson and it's all over. An elated Vin Man leads Kelly to ringside.

Resnick: Ok, Vinnie, because of Kelly's big WrestleRock win over DJ Peterson, Kelly gets a TV title shot next week, against Nick Busick.

Vin: Busick! You don't stand a chance bubba. You saw how tough Kelly is. I mean did you see him flat out KO that dope Peterson?

Resnick: Well, he did have help with some brass knuckles, that you provided.

Kelly: Shut your mouth Resnick! Or I'll shut it for you!

Vin: The bottom line is Mr. Magnificent is finally going to get the gold he deserves. Busick, you're history pal. I'm the Vin Man yea!

Commercial Break

"Crusher" Jerry Blackwell vs. Carl Kellerman

blackwell.jpg.b38866d2536b43a560d8890a4449474f.jpg

Blackwell slams Kellerman down, swings off the ropes and hits the big splash for the win!

Resnick: Jerry, WrestleRock was quite the night for you. I hear Greg Gagne is still recuperating. Now that that's done. You get the opportunity of a lifetime next week at the Rupp Arena, when you face Tommy Rich for the AWA world title.

Blackwell: Yea, I heard Rich out here running his mouth again. Rich! Go get a video cassette of WrestleRock and watch what I did to Gagne. Because I've got so much more planned for you!

Resnick: Fans next week Jerry "The King" Lawler will be here. AWA International Champ El Canek will be in action. Nick Busick defends the AWA TV title against Kevin Kelly. AWA World Tag Team Champs Tatsumi Fujinami and Jumbo Tsuruta will be in the ring. I understand they'll be defending their titles against The Olympians next week at the Rupp Arena. All that and a lot more. Let's get to our main event.

"Bullet" Bob Armstrong vs. The Dream Machine

Dream staggers up as Bob scoop slams him down and follows with a knee drop 1..2..Kick Out. Bob swings Dream into the corner and charges in with a running clothesline. Bob hip tosses Dream and follows with a neck snap. Bob grabs Dream's leg and drops an elbow on it, then clamps on the figure four! Dream quickly grabs the ropes. Rich gets the show off to an obnoxious start. He might wanna take Blackwell a little more seriously.

Boone's gone Commando & has a whole list of people to take out.

Glamour Boys vs Original Midnight Express is gonna be a fun feud.

I'm afraid i've got some Bad News for the AWA!

Larry Z vs Steamboat is about as clear cut heel/face dynamic you can get in this game.

Morgan has had enough of Jack bring shame to Australia.

The British Bombers & The Quebec Coalition are both looking strong ahead of their clash for the National titles.

The Wild Bunch is back baby! Barr & Cooley are ready to wreck havoc on the tag division.

Kelly is on a roll heading into a TV title shot next week.

"Bullet" Bob takes down Dream Machine to send the fans home happy babay.

The AWA just keeps rolling.  We seem to always go flawlessly from one big show and the end of some great angles to the next few TV shows and brand new feuds are in full effect.

Tommy Rich vs Lawler is perfect Memphis'/AWA wrestling.... Slater almost had the title... Lawler is bigger then Slater.... I predict..... CHAOS!

Larry Z vs Steamboat... this one is huge for the future of the AWA... This could go in any direction!  Can't wait.

I think Morgan is just feed up with Outback Jack losing!  I wonder where the fans will stand on this one.

Watching Bob Armstrong go from feud to feud is fun.  Wonder who will come out on top here with Dream.  To me, Armstrong seems to fit perfectly in that Memphis mold.  I wonder why he never spent much time there.  It was pretty close to his normal territories.

AWA @ The Quandt Fieldhouse, Stevens Point WI 6-12-87

awa2.jpg.f9782ae0c524d7a10c4fdd27cab51447.jpg

The Bruise Brothers defeated Two Prelim Wrestlers with a double running axehandle smash! Bruise Brothers wrestled very aggressively.

"The Japanese Fury" Yoshiaki Yatsu defeated Gene Ligon with a belly to back suplex

"The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko defeated Jerry "Alright" Allen with a spinning neckbreaker

"Crippler" Rip Oliver defeated Jesse Barr w/Nelson Royal by DQ- Barr's new Wild Bunch partner, Wendell Cooley hit the ring and attacked Oliver to cause the DQ. Wild Bunch then double clotheslined Oliver with their bullrope. Lots of heat.

The British Bombers and Quebec Coalition w/Frenchy Martin battled to a 15 minute draw. These teams will wrestle for the National tag titles in a few weeks, so this was a prime time scouting match. After the match, both teams nodded to each other with respect while motioning their hands around their wastes as if to say we'll see who ends up as National Tag Champs.

"Terrific" Terry Taylor defeated "Dynamite" DJ Peterson- DJ had Taylor pinballing all over the ring until he missed a diving shoulder block from the top rope. Taylor staggered up, swung off the ropes and nailed DJ with the flying 5 arm to get the win.

Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka vs. TNT

These guys have some serious issues stemming from WrestleRock. Curtis Iaukea is still MIA. TNT went at Snuka with a vengeance. Snuka came back with brutality of his own. The fans were into this hard hitting match. TNT tried to end things with his mist but before he could spit it out, Snuka lunged forward with a jumping headbutt. The mist spewed into the air. Snuka scoop slammed TNT, then went to the top rope and hit the Superfly Splash to send the fans home happy.

Lance Russell: Hello everybody and welcome to another exciting edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. In action tonight will be The Olympians, Billy Jack Strong, Polynesian Power, Terry Taylor, Commando Boone, Scott Putski, AWA International Champ El Canek and AWA World Tag Team Champs Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami. And Nick Busick defends the AWA TV title against Kevin Kelly. (Pauses) Ok fans, please welcome out Jerry "The King" Lawler.

lawler.jpg.7202793afa6a4c006d2626dc2929d3ac.jpg

Huge pop as Lawler comes out, smiles and raises his fist to the fans.

Lance: Alright Jerry, this weekend at the Rupp Arena, you make your return to the ring against Gerry Morrow.

Lawler: I can't wait Lance! It feels so good to be back in the AWA. Make no mistake about it, I'm here to knock Tommy Rich off his pedestal and take back the world title. However, Gerry Morrow is up next. Morrow! You might be living the good life and sipping champagne but when you step in the ring with me, you better be focused and sober...

Thundering boos as Tommy Rich and Baby Doll stroll out.

tommy.jpg.3df03030a01d7e69bfbf8ecf64dcb877.jpg2105483320_babydoll.jpg.7988824becd399ba1f2ff833033414d5.jpg

Lance: Wait a minute, just hold on. There will be no trouble. Come on Tommy.

Baby Doll: Relax Lance, Tommy just wants to have a word with Lawler here. Lawler's the one who better keep cool.

Lawler: Don't worry Lance, this should be interesting.

Tommy: You know Loser, oh I mean Lawler. Since I dethroned you, I've had the most epic AWA world title run of all time. (Laughs) Nothing can stop me. Everybody wants to know when I'm going to defend my title against you. I ask why? You're old news. You see, you're so dumb, you're looking past Morrow, big mistake. I don't do that. I've got a title defense at the Rupp Arena against some fat guy.

Lance: His name is Jerry Blackwell.

Tommy: Quiet Lance! Nobody asked you a damn thing! You know something? I'm so confident I'll beat the fat guy, that if you somehow get by Morrow, I'll grant you a world title shot. Not only that, but I'll do it at the Mid South Coliseum. You know why? Because that's where I beat you last time and doing it again would be a moment just to good to pass up.

Lawler: Well, that was easy. I will defeat Morrow and then you're next!

Tommy: Oh you think so?

Tommy pushes Lawler!

Lawler steps forward but Tommy pulls Baby Doll in front of him. (BOOOOOOOOS!)

Security comes out to prevent anything else happening.

Resnick: Ok, this weekend at the Rupp Arena, you guys get a world tag team title match with Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami. Bill, I noticed your quad is taped up. You ok?

Kaz: Well Ken, I strained my quad during a work out, but there's no way this is going to keep me from a world title opportunity. Brad, you know I'll do whatever it takes. We've been waiting a long time for this.

Brad: Bill, there's no doubt in my mind. We talked about this and I think we have a pretty solid game plan. Ken, we have waited a long time and we can assure you, we're ready.

Snuka and Kokina give the fans one heck of a debut. Kokina hits a Samoan Drop and Snuka follows with the Superfly Splash for the win!

Resnick: Tremendous debut for Polynesian Power. Jimmy, Kokina, you guys came together at WrestleRock and look like you were born to team up. You know, Curtis Iaukea is still missing.

Snuka: Brotha, Curtis Iaukea made a big mistake when he and TNT turned on Kokina. Great for me, because it brought Kokina and me together. Polynesian Power has arrived!

Commercial Break

Billy Jack Strong vs. Carl Kellerman

billy.jpg.0c6386f5a8b4fc47568d78e9a72f1fdc.jpg

Strong simply overpowers his opponent and finishes things off with a shoulder breaker. Strong angrily stomps on Kellerman's shoulder, picks him up and hits another shoulder breaker! Strong picks up Kellerman and hits a 3rd shoulder breaker!

Resnick: Why did you do that? Why inflict more punishment on an already beaten man? Look behind you! The Medics are helping him out. I hope you're happy Billy Jack.

Billy: Yea, that does make me happy! Hey, the last time I was in the AWA, I played the nice guy act. Not anymore! Billy Jack Strong is here to wreck havoc and destroy people!

Commercial Break

Footage from last week is shown as The Glamour Boys and The Original Midnight Express battle to a 10 minute draw. Midnight's and Norvell do a post match beatdown on the Glamour Boys.

Resnick: Fans, this weekend at the Rupp Arena, a rematch has been signed between the Glamour Boys and Original Midnight Express. And don't forget, Ricky Steamboat faces Larry Zbyszko in a world title contender's match. Get your tickets now. Let's get back to the action.

Commando Boone vs. Arthur Gleason

boone.jpg.aa44af1a20fb06040babc66d7da137c4.jpg

Boone swings Gleason into the corner and hits an avalanche. Boone follows with a big elbow drop for the easy win.

Resnick: Commando Boone. Last week you attacked Corporal Kirchner and then said something about a hit list.

Boone: At WrestleRock I let Greg Gagne down. I did a lot of thinking and made a decision. Get back down to business. Commando Boone is going to mow over anybody that gets in my way. If Corporal Kirchner has a problem with what I did, I've got no problem settling it with him and crossing him off the list!

Commercial Break

The camera zooms in on the brand new glowing  'Beauty Shop' sign, then pans down to Brenda Britton.

britton.jpg.5aec91034fa6881ddb8f0e304ad2e2e2.jpg

Briton: (Looks at Yoshiaki Yatsu) Yoshi, because of all the shenanigans that went down at WrestleRock, I never got to congratulate you on your tremendous win. Great job Yoshi!

Yoshi bows.

Britton: Ok, Hi everybody and welcome to my new and improved Beauty Shop. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate this occasion then by having my close and dear friend as my guest. Welcome out the one and only "Champagne" Gerry Morrow.

morrow.jpg.712675a327c62249763b97627a642937.jpg

Gerry comes out looking in bad shape. He's unshaven, hair messed up, wearing a dirty T-Shirt and jeans.

Britton: (Shocked look) Oh my goodness! Gerry? Is that you? What is going on here?

Gerry walks around disoriented. His head is hung low and he looks down when he speaks.

Morrow: (Softly speaking) I lost everything.

Britton: What? Gerry! Did you say you lost everything? What does that mean?

Morrow: (Looking down and crying) The bet. I lost it all! Brenda, I lost it all! De money, de cars.de yacht, de clothes and de champagne. I have nothing but de clothes on my back. They took everything.  I don't know what to do.

Britton: (Teary eyed) Oh Gerry! (Processes things) Ok, Ok, just calm down. Look, you have a big match with Jerry Lawler this weekend. You have to win. You need the winner's purse. Then you can get back on your feet. Ok? (Snaps her fingers) Gerry? Ok?

Morrow: (Deep breath) Ok. Do you think you could give me a ride? And would you mind buying me some wrestling trunks. I will pay you back.

Britton: I'll give you a ride but first let's go get you some wrestling gear. I know where we can get a good deal. Don't worry about a thing Gerry. This is just a minor set back. Until next week toooodles.

Brenda leads Gerry out as Yoshi remains stoic.

Huge pop as TOM ZENK hits the ring! Taylor turns around and Zenk nails him with a superkick! Zenk pumps his fists as the fans are up and cheering. Zenk picks up the announcer's mic.

"Anytime! Anyplace! Taylor!"

Jumbo hits a knee drop from the top rope and tags in Fujinami. Fujinami wins the match with the Dragon Plex!

Resnick: 7 months as AWA World tag champs, Crockett Cup winners, won the titles vs. titles match at WrestleRock. Is there a more dominant team in wrestling? I hope the Olympians are on their A plus game at the Rupp Arena.

Commercial Break

AWA TV Title Bout

Nick Busick (C) vs. "Mr. Magnificent" Kevin Kelly w/The Vin Man

Vin points to Kelly as Kelly does a double bicep pose. The boos turn to cheers when Busick makes his way up the aisle. The Ref gets Vin out of the ring and signals for the bell.

These two powerhouses lock up and move back and forth. Kelly rears back and pushes Busick down. Vin claps as Kelly poses at Busick. They lock up again, this time Busick rears back and pushes Kelly down. An irate Kelly gets up and charges Busick but Busick back drops him. Kelly staggers up as Busick clotheslines him over the top rope! Vin rushes over and tends to Kelly. Vin points up and yells at Busick. Busick goes to the outside as Vin backs up. Busick hurls Kelly back into the ring. Busick gets on the apron, Vin runs over and grabs his leg. Busick kicks him off, turns around and gets nailed with a forearm blast by Kelly. Busick falls to the outside as Kelly distracts the Ref while Vin stomps on Busick.

Rich with a classic heat segment first by lecturing Lawler about overlooking Morrow while not bothering to remember Blsckwell's name, then he cheapshots Lawler before hiding behind a woman. I got a feeling he's got something planned for the Rupp Arena, the path before Lawler is too easy.

El Canek impresses before he defends against Gama in the Mecca.

I can respect The Olympians not wanting to pass up a title shot but facing Jumbo & Fujinami at less then 100% is not a smart move.

Morgan shows his fellow Aussie how it's done.

I agree with Blackwell, Rich would be wise to take him extremely seriously.

Polynesian Power is off to a hot start.

No more Mr nice Billy Jack.

Glamour Boys/Original MDE round 2 is set for the Rupp Arena.

Command Boone clarifies his motive. This could be a fun angle.

Morrow has hit rock bottom. Luckily he has a friend like Brenda to help in his time of need.

The Z-man is back & looking for retribution.

Kelly claims a count out win over the TV champ thanks to the Vin Man. Another shot is definitely in order.

AWA is moving in a great direction and Tommy Rich is steering the ship in that direction. Lawler and Rich is pure and simple money and it is going to make the AWA some huge money.

I think my biggest thing is the next in line... Slater was robbed...  Steamboat has momentum... Terry Taylor looks to be an up and comer... plus now we've got the Superfly. The mix of talent with a big name like Rich at the top allows for a lot of potential in the future.

Oh yeah... Nick Busick... get him a big cigar and let him bully anyone he can get his hands on.

I can't wait for El Canek versus Gama Singh!

I'm happy to see Jerry Blackwell looking nice and dominant here! I'm rooting for him to beat Tommy Rich!

Fun gimmick with Commando Boone and his list!

Loved the altercation between Terry Taylor and Tom Zenk!

Really fun main event! Super competitive and a wacky finish!

AWA @ The Rupp Arena 6-19-87

awa2.jpg.f9782ae0c524d7a10c4fdd27cab51447.jpg

The Wild Bunch (Wendell Cooley and Jesse Barr) w/Nelson Royal defeated Two Local Talents with a double running bulldog.

"Dynamite" DJ Peterson defeated Gene Ligon with a diving shoulder block from the top rope

"The Great" Gama Singh defeated Jerry "Alright" Allen with the Cobra Clutch

The Glamour Boys defeated The Original Midnight Express w/Norvell Austin by DQ- Fun fast paced match that was ruined by interference from Norvell

Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko wrestled to a 20 minute draw. The first 10 minutes was mostly stalling by Larry. When he finally decided to wrestle, it was a thrilling encounter. The bell rang in the midst of several back and forth near falls. I'm sure a rematch will be signed with an extended time limit

Jerry "The King" Lawler vs. "Champagne" Gerry Morrow

The fans were up and cheering for Lawler's in ring return to the AWA and he didn't disappoint. On the flip side, Morrow (wearing generic trunks) was totally unfocused, unmotivated and distraught. Morrow hardly put up a fight and in the end, Lawler put him out of his misery with a flying fist drop from the top rope. Huge pop for Lawler.

AWA World Tag Team Title Bout

Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami (C) vs. The Olympians

Kazmaier's quad was heavily taped but he still came with his working boots on. Olympians put together a solid plan and it did catch the champs a bit off guard. Kaz would come in and hit the power and strength moves while Rheingans technical skills were in full throttle. Unfortunately the quad became a factor when Kaz got to excited and pressed Fujinami over his head only for the quad to give out. The champs respectfully worked Kaz over and finished things off with a double suplex. Afterwards, Jumbo and Fujinami helped Rheingans get Kaz to the back safely.

Winners of the Match and still AWA World Tag Team Champs- Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami

AWA World Title Bout

Tommy "Wildfire" Rich (C) w/Baby Doll vs. "Crusher" Jerry Blackwell

Rich made a huge mistake underestimating Blackwell. The first few minutes was Blackwell bouncing and pinballing Rich all over the ring. Blackwell was on the verge of winning the title until Baby Doll reached in and tripped him. Blackwell quickly turned around and Baby Doll distracted him long enough for Rich to send him through the ropes with a high knee. Rich has things going his way until he goes for a piledriver. Blackwell back drops him and regroups. It's all Blackwell until Rich "stumbles" into the Ref as Blackwell clotheslines both of them. With the Ref down, Baby Doll gets in the ring. Blackwell turns around and Baby Doll sprays him with mace. Blackwell is frantically rubbing his eyes. Baby Doll goes out, grabs a chair and slides it into the ring. Rich staggers up, grabs the chair and hits Blackwell over the head! Baby Doll shakes the Ref. Tommy covers as the Ref slowly crawls over and counts 1..2..3! BOOOOOOO!

Medics come in the ring to flush Blackwell's eyes and check his head. Rich pushes them away and starts stomping on Blackwell. The fans are in riot mode until JERRY LAWLER hits the ring and pounds away on Rich! Lawler clotheslines Rich over the top rope as the fans go wild. Baby Doll tends to Rich while Lawler makes sure Blackwell gets his medical treatment.

Winner of the Match and still AWA World Champ- Tommy Rich

The Wild Bunch show what a couple of real cowboys can do.

Peterson blows up on Ligon.

Gama show why he's Great while Allen is just Alright.

Austin spoils the fans fun & costs his boys the match.

Steamboat & Zbysko put on a good show....eventually.

Lawler takes down the downtrodden Morrow.

Kaz's knee costs him & Brad the gold. Good sportsmanship by the champs.

Rich retains as Baby Doll definitely earns her money tonight. Now to deal with Lawller.

Ricky Steamboat and Larry Zbyszko definitely need a rematch!

Nice easy victory for Jerry Lawler, good for the crowd!

Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami come across really well here, rock solid team! I don't want their reign to end!

Epic main event! I was rooting for Jerry Blackwell but Tommy Rich is way too devious! Nice crowd-pleasing finish the Jerry Lawler coming to the rescue!

Any week that starts with a battle of words between Rich, Baby Doll and Lawler is always a good week.

After those interviews I was sure Morrow and Blackwell were in some trouble at Rupp Arena.

Snuka and Kokina going after Iaukea is awesome.  This could go anywhere.

That might have been the best Beauty Shop yet... Morrow asking Brenda for a ride had me laughing.  I wonder where she brought him for wrestling trunks.

Bully takes a beating but keeps the belt... this one is going to get HOT.

Steamboat and Larry Z in a midcard match... this shows you how stacked the AWA is!!

Great job.

Highlights are shown from the Rupp Arena. Footage includes Jerry Lawler's win over a distraught Gerry Morrow. Bill Kazmaier's quad injury that leads to Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami retaining the AWA world tag titles. Ricky Steamboat and Larry Zbyszko battling to a 20 minute draw in a contender's match. And Baby Doll helping Tommy Rich retain the AWA world title over Jerry Blackwell. However, a Lawler run in prevents Rich from damaging Blackwell any further.

Lance Russell: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Huge show lined up with a blockbuster main event as AWA World champ Tommy Rich teams with the Dream Machine to take on Jerry Lawler and Bob Armstrong. My goodness, that's going to be a good one. Fans, right now I want to announce 2 big cards during Independence Day weekend. On July 3rd, the AWA comes to the Mecca and on July 4th we'll be at the Mid South Coliseum. It's now official, Tommy Rich will defend the AWA world title against Jerry Lawler at the Mid South Coliseum. We'll be talking more on both cards during the show. Well, we've got so much happening, why not get right to the ring.

"The Z-Man" Tom Zenk vs. Wesley Glenn

zenk.jpg.271cb3c06fa5b064cc0c81a91ec57709.jpg

Zenk gets the cheers as he works over Glenn with high octane offense. Zenk hits the Missile Dropkick for the win! More cheers as Zenk heads to ringside.

Resnick: Tom Zenk, at WrestleRock your partner Terry Taylor turned on you and followed with a despicable attack. Last week, you returned and nailed him with a Superkick. Well, it will be you and him, one on one at the Mecca on July 3rd.

Zenk: You know Ken, I had considered Terry a great friend and tag team partner. I really thought we would accomplish a lot here. Now, that's all out the window! Taylor! You've got some comeuppance coming!

Frenchy waves the Quebec Flag as Charland hits Jordan with an inverted piledriver and Lefon follows with a senton off the ropes for the win.

Resnick: Ok, July 3rd at the Mecca, Quebec Coalition will battle the British Bombers for the vacated AWA National Tag Team titles. Frenchy, it looks like your boys are ready.

Frenchy: We've said it many times, we have de upmost respect for the Bombers and this match will be de two toughest teams going for de titles. They will bring it all and trust me, so will we.

Commercial Break

Resnick: Fans, with me right now is a man who was synonymous with tag team wrestling but now has shifted into the single's scene. I'm referring to the Fabulous One himself, Steve Keirn. Steve, up next, you have a match with a man making his AWA debut, Alberto Madril.

Keirn: Ken, the last year has been quite a transition for me. I know the last time I was here, I wasn't exactly on the most popular list with the fans. Well, after spending time in Florida and the UWF, I realized just how much I missed the cheers. I worked hard to gain their trust and I'm here to do the same in the AWA.

There's a commotion as Alberto Madril walks out. Madril smiles and shakes Resnick's hand, then smiles and shakes Keirn's hand.

Madril: I'm standing in the back and listening to all this talk about Steve Keirn and his return. I'm just wondering why I didn't get some time with you Resnick? (Madril shrugs his shoulders at Resnick) Ahhhhhhh, you know what? Forget it. I'm here as everybody's compadre. No need to sweat the small stuff. Steve, let's just give these people a great match. Just because we're competitors doesn't mean I can't be your compadre. Right?

Keirn: Good point Alberto. Let's do this.

Alberto nods and smiles then shakes Keirn's hand again.

"The Fabulous One" Steve Keirn vs. "Everybody's Compadre" Alberto Madril

The fans do get a scientific back and forth match. These guys trade holds as the tide turns several times. Madril has things going his way, swings Keirn to the ropes and goes for a back drop but Keirn hits a sunset flip 1..2..3! Big Pop.

Madril gets to his knees with his hands on his hips, shakes his head, looks down, then lifts his head with a big smile. Madril stands up, grabs Keirn's hand and raises it as the fans cheer both men. Madril then pulls Keirn in and puts him down with a short arm clothesline! Madril looks out and shrugs his shoulders at the booing fans. Madril picks up Keirn and slams him down, then hops on the middle ropes and crashes down with an elbow drop. Madril counts to 3 with his fingers, smiles and nods his head. Madril reaches down and shakes Keirn's limp hand.

Fans are up and cheering as the Glamour Boys hit the Grand Slam, Thank you Ma'am for the exciting win!

Resnick: Alright, Steve Doll, Steve Simpson, the Glamour Boys, come on over. Tremendous opportunity for you two. On July 4th at the Mid South Coliseum, you will get a AWA world tag team title shot against arguably the best team in wrestling, Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami.

Doll: Couldn't be more excited Ken! The Glamour Boys have worked so hard and paid the dues. It's all paid off!

Simpson: Hey, we have nothing but respect for the world champs and everything they've accomplished this year. We know we're in for one heck of a wrestling experience and we can't wait for it.

Resnick smiles as the Glamour Boys high five and pump their fists.

Commercial Break

Corporal Kirchner vs. Marvin Maynard

kirchner.jpg.a7dbc455e6129723c65548500bec3f3f.jpg

Kirchner gets the "USA" chants as he waves the American Flag on his way to the ring. Kirchner's all business as he hits the Fireman's Carry Slam for the win.

Resnick: Corporal Kirchner, it's you and Commando Boone on July 3rd at the Mecca. Apparently, you're number one on Boone's hit list.

Kirchner: I heard Boone crying about how he let Greg Gagne down at WrestleRock and now he's getting down to business. Boone! You picked the wrong guy! You failed Gagne and trust me, you're going to fail at this mission as well.

Commercial Break

The British Bombers vs. Nate Turner and George Werner

Bombers are hard hitting tonight. Smith clips Turner behind the knee as Dave hits his running forearm blast for the win.

Resnick: You heard the Quebec Coalition earlier. July 3rd at the Mecca, for the AWA National tag titles.

Smith: We've always considered them friends and like Frenchy said, two of the toughest teams going at it. It'll be a good fight and we're looking forward to it.

Dave: Quebec Coalition are going to bring it and so are we! And may the best team win.

Commercial Break

Total squash as the Wild Bunch hit a double running bulldog for the win. Nelson throws the rope in. Cooley and Barr grab it but before they can use it, Rip Oliver and Kerry Brown hit the ring and unload on them! Nelson is going haywire as Oliver clotheslines Barr over the top rope while Kerry sends Cooley through the ropes with a running high knee! Nelson helps his boys and they quickly exit.

Resnick: Rip Oliver, Kerry Brown, I get why you did what you just did. The Wild Bunch have attacked both of you on separate occasions.

Kerry: That's right and so we decided to align and give them some payback!

Oliver: Wild Bunch, get ready because the Cripplers are coming and we're coming to break bones and crack skulls!

Commercial Break

The camera zooms in on the glowing pink 'Beauty Shop' sign, then pans down to Brenda Britton.

britton.jpg.5aec91034fa6881ddb8f0e304ad2e2e2.jpg

Britton: Hi everybody and welcome to the highest rated segment in wrestling, the Beauty Shop. (Looks at Yoshiaki Yatsu) Yoshi, you look ready willing and able. (Yoshi bows) Now, before we get to the show, I have some very sad news. I haven't seen or heard from Gerry Morrow since his match at the Rupp Arena. I'm worried, so if anybody has any information please contact me immediately! Now, my guest tonight is a true superstar in the world of wrestling and one tough man. Soon to be making his long awaited AWA debut, none other than Bad News Brown!

1523393988_badnews.jpg.f11c2fc3ef6a3d2afbd8ef4b160b3e85.jpg

Brown walks out and gives Yatsu a look, then walks over to Britton.

Britton: You're just as tough and mean as I thought you would be. The AWA is in big trouble aren't they?

Brown: Big trouble is right! It's real simple Brenda, I'm here in the AWA to win gold and make money and I don't need any help from nobody. I walk alone, I train alone and my money is all mine! It's going to be bad news for anybody that gets in my way!

Bad News Brown raises his fist and walks out.

Britton: Straight to the point, I like that. He's going to be bad news for the AWA. Until next week, tooooodles.

Commercial Break

Footage from last week is shown as Kevin Kelly gets a C.O. win over TV Champ Nick Busick.

Resnick: Fans, at the Mecca, Nick Busick will defend the AWA TV title in a rematch against Kevin Kelly. Both men will be in action next week. Speaking of rematches, at the Mid South Coliseum, Ricky Steamboat and Larry Zbyszko will once again wrestle in a contenders match but this time, there will be no time limit. Both men will be in action next week as well. Back to the ring.

"The Great" Gama Singh vs. William Hillman

gama.jpg.70375d753acb4193d4ddcd336cbd3028.jpg

Gama outwrestles his opponent with ease and wins the match with the Cobra Clutch

Resnick: Gama, July 3rd at the Mecca, you get your AWA International title shot against El Canek. You have to be impressed with Canek's reign.

Singh: Not really. Sure, he's taken down some monsters like Giant Haystacks and Abdullah the Butcher. However, he has not been in the ring with a true wrestling mechanic such as myself. He's been ducking me and for good reason. He knows he can not defeat me. It is now my time. I've waited far to long. Canek! That title belongs to me.

Commercial Break

The Original Midnight Express w/Norvell Austin vs. Arnie Goldstein and Clayton Rance

midnites.jpg.c8ee58e1244698a8e5e3d07b1cd8e14d.jpg

Express win it with the double flapjack. Boos as they head to ringside.

Norvell: Just wait a minute Resnick! Can you tell me why those pretty boy punks are getting a world tag team title shot? It's down right ludicrous. My Midnight Express should be getting it and you know it!

Resnick: Well, probably because you interfered in the match at the Rupp Arena and got your team disqualified.

Norvell: That was bogus! That incompetent Ref was paid off. Glamour Boys! I guarantee you two punks won't make it to that title shot. You boys better best beware!

Norvell leads his team out.

Resnick: I think Norvell has other things to worry about because at the Mecca, they will be facing Polynesian Power. Our main event is next.

Commercial Break

AWA World Champ Tommy "Wildfire" Rich and The Dream Machine w/Baby Doll vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler and "Bullet" Bob Armstrong

Of course as soon as the bell rings, fists are flying! Lawler is all over Rich as Armstrong hammers away on Dream. Lawler punches Rich to the outside as Armstrong back drops Dream, which sends him rolling out. Baby Doll regroups her men. They stagger up and start to walk away but Lawler and Armstrong run out. They double slam Rich on the concrete and hurl Dream back into the ring. The Ref gets order.

Armstrong swings Dream to the ropes and clotheslines him down, then follows with a jumping knee drop. Armstrong tags in Lawler. Armstrong holds Dream as Lawler comes down with a double axehandle 1..2..Kick Out. Lawler hoists Dream up and hits a vertical suplex, then tags in Armstrong. Armstrong swings Dream to the ropes and clamps on the sleeper! Armstrong has Dream flailing until Rich leaps off the top rope and nails the back of Armstrong's head with a double axehandle. Lawler punches Rich but the Ref quickly guides him back. This allows Rich to drag Dream over and tag himself in.

Rich hops on the middle ropes and waits. Armstrong staggers up as Rich comes down with an elbow to the top of his head 1..2..Kick Out. Rich continues to work Armstrong over, swings him to the ropes and goes for a back drop but Armstrong kicks him, dives over and tags in Lawler.

The fans go wild as Lawler pounds away on Rich, swings him to the ropes and back drops him. Rich staggers up as Lawler scoop slams him down. Lawler swings off the ropes and hits an elbow drop. Lawler hops on the middle ropes and comes down with a flying fist drop 1..2..Dream kicks him. Armstrong runs in and hammers away on Dream. Dream rolls out of the ring as Armstrong chases him. Armstrong grabs Dream and suplexes him on the concrete.

Inside the ring, Baby Doll hops on the apron. Lawler walks over and warns her. Baby Doll continues to distract him. Rich gets up and charges Lawler but Lawler moves and Rich collides with Baby Doll, which sends her flying off the apron. Lawler rolls up Rich 1..2..3! Mega Pop!

Z-Man is ready to make Taylor pay on July 3rd.

Kinda surprised at the respectful tones coming from the Coalition & the Bombers. Let's see if it holds up come July 3rd.

I think it's safe to say Alberto is NOT Keirn's campadre.

The Glamour Boys are going for gold on independence day!

Kirchner has a tall task ahead of him in the Mecca.

Peterson with a solid TV showing.

Brown & Oliver unite to take on the Wild Bunch.

Brenda truly does get all the scoops as the Beauty Shop sees the debut of Bad News Brown.

Two huge rematches as Kelly gets another crack at Busick while Steamboat & Zbysko meet again without a time limit.

Gama looks ready to capture International gold.

The Original Midnights are pissed, but they shouldn't overlook Polynesian Power.

Big time main event chaos that ends with Lawler scoring a pin on the champ!

Awesome show here!  For me, my favorite segment was Keirn and Madril.  At first, I wasn't sure if either Keirn or Madril were really coming into the AWA and I didn't know who to trust.  Then we get a technical match and I thought maybe they would be be babyfaces and maybe even a tag team... Then the Madril heel turn.  Great segment.  Then we get a HUGE main event.  I love when the champs go down in defeat before a huge match.  It always makes the fans think anything is possible when the title is actually on the line.  In this case, it is almost the opposite.  It gave me the feeling that Rich might be in over his head.  Baby Doll might need to pull another rabbit out of the hat to keep the belt in her man.  Really looking forward to the Mecca on July 3rd!  So many feuds starting to get hot in the AWA.  Speaking of hot... Bad News is always one angry man.  The AWA better be ready for the Ghetto Blaster.  Thanks for another fun read.
