sek69 Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 I thought it was smart to do a draw, and a 30 minute one at that. Everyone knows both guys are capable of going twice that long (and then some) but you put that shit on PPV and do mega business. Give the people a free sample on TV and have them pay for the main course. It still feels weird seeing a national wrestling company doing booking moves that make sense again. Quote
KawadaSmile Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Following Bryan/Omega with MJF/Pillmann hell yes I needed a shower after my ballet class Quote
Infinit Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 So fucking good. Imagine what Kenny and BD will do on PPV eventually. Quote
Timbo Slice Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 I get what Matt is saying, but the problem with Kenny has always been environment. The things that perpetually dog him were highlighted in feds that were all about being self aware, and it’s what made what he did in New Japan look worse because of it. He absolutely could park half his act and be better off for it, but I see think it’s something that can easily be removed from the equation when criticism arises. You don’t want to do that with a wrestler, but with Omega it’s almost too easy to remove that from all the other aspects of his overall performance. Especially when in there with someone who forces him to park the bullshit. Quote
C.S. Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Pillman Jr. really needs to win this and become a "made man." But he won't because they're all-in on MJF, and I get why, but still. Quote
hammerva Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Danielson wrestled that match like it might be his last match ever. Maybe not great for long term but fuck does it create great matches Quote
strobogo Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Honestly a draw is the only thing that makes sense with the two involved and their respective characters in their first meeting. Quote
sek69 Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 They probably would have put Bryan over had Kenny not already lost to Christian. They're super protective of the champ and there wasn't any way they were going to have the champ lose twice relatively quickly like that. I still think a draw is what's Best for Business anyway so it works for me. Quote
C.S. Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Pillman Jr. needs to work on expressing anger better. MJF is abusing Julia Hart and Pillman Jr.'s all "rah rah babyface." MJF winning quickly and cleanly is a very unsatisfactory result. Meh. Quote
KawadaSmile Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 LOL way to make a babyface here, folks Quote

Timbo Slice Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 L O L Cody here to pop the start of Hour 2, hilarious. Quote
MoS Posted September 23, 2021 Author Report Posted September 23, 2021 Man it's really hard to care about Pillman and Cody after that match. They really should have saved it for the main event Quote
C.S. Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Hot take: Cody should and will win. He's a real star with endless crossover appeal. Black wasn't special in NXT, wasn't special in WWE, and isn't special in AEW. He's a big man who can do some movez - big deal! Quote

Flyin' Brian Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Cody trying to look like Homelander out here. Quote
KawadaSmile Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Remember that time Cody dressed up as Homelander and not even flinched? Quote

sek69 Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 There really wasn't any way Pillman Jr was winning that one. Not only was this whole program just a way to reheat MJF, the way AEW has been booking their Young Lions is that they show a little more each time in losing until they break through with a big win. Quote
Jmare007 Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Cody's entrance is gonna fuck up the main event's time. Truly some Triple H shit right there Quote
MoS Posted September 23, 2021 Author Report Posted September 23, 2021 Is midcard face losing to a guy pushed from the start as a main event heel while giving him some good spots really a bad thing? MJF has lost only to Mox and Jericho, and Pillman was basically not featured at all in the singles division before this match. Quote
Timbo Slice Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 They didn’t put Pillman over because supposed face Cody needs to win in his big comeback. Quote
