BTW, the women's Rumble is pretty hilarious considering they have to dig up in the past to get to 30 after they fired so many people. The IInspiration actually said they would not appear. Getting some of the people you just fired to fill up spots in really telling of how unprepared they are. There is gonna be some bad "legends" and some green-ass girls from NXT too. We have 22 of 30 entrants announced, and breaking down who is there we have the following: 12Â wrestlers are tag team members (technically 13 since Kofi is there but Woods is injured), which is close to the most in a single Rumble. One is Johnny Knoxville. There are only FIVE SmackDown members announced so far (the roster is so fucking thin at the moment, not even Drew is there) Theory, Priest, Omos, while fresh faces, are absolutely not winning this and ain't big names yet. If we are optimistic, we'll still get Balor, Cesaro, Ricochet, making it 25 known names. Boogs and Nakamura, 27. Apollo would make it 28. I expect, at most, Bron Breakker and Melo to appear, but it feels like we'll get Ciampa and Dunne. Or Veer. On paper, it all looks very dire. It's mostly been supplanted by MITB as a vehicle for elevating wrestlers on the cusp of main-event status. In addition, a big part of the appeal in the early years was seeing pairings you wouldn't normally see. Like, it blew people's minds in 1989 when Ax and Smash were the first two entrants and had to face off against each other. That aspect is long gone since every remotely compelling matchup has been beaten into the ground. The closest equivalent these days is returning legends as surprise entrants, and that well has run dry as well. Take all those things away and it's just an hour of people grabbing the ropes and trying to avoid falling to the floor.
