This was one of my favorite Dynamites ever. The way the opening match lead to the Renee/Mox/Eddie promo was great. The Renee/Mox/Eddie promo had the "Who cares about some CHIKARA BS from 10 years ago" line that made me yell in my living room and demonstrated that Eddie respects and likes Renee. The Elite/Dark Order segment and match were fantastic, I loved the continuity and Evil UNO being aggressive against Hangman was something I needed to see. The aftermath of the match wrapped up all 4 of those segments into a nice bow and we have our Blood and Guts match. Very exciting.

Claudio and Eddie just mean mugging each other the entire time the match was going on around them, then Claudio going full M. Bison on that mf hitting the ring later. If they don't try to kill each other in war games, what's the point of pro wrassles?

Isn't Eddie in Japan for Blood & Guts? G-1 starts the weekend before.

I think it’s time for everybody to accept that Jungle Boy is just not all that good at the Pro Wrestling thing. I am sure he has a long promising career ahead of him as an underwear model.

Although the way he “delivers his lines” in a stilted, unconvincing fashion, he would fit in perfectly backstage, cutting a promo in NXT.

There's a temptation to point to Jungle Boy as the new Brian Pillman Jr., but I don't think the situation is quite that dire. I think Jungle Boy is still totally fine as a tag wrestler and, given how thoroughly they've hollowed out the tag division to try and make the Trios division happen, the Jurassic Express could have been a great anchor for undercard tags if they had kept them around.

Somewhere along the line, though -- probably after his big "breakout" match with Dax -- they saw something bigger in him as a single and I just don't see that at all, regardless of whether he's a face or a heel. (Though he clearly needs some time and practice to find his voice as a heel, if they're actually going to run with this.) He doesn't have the physical presence and he doesn't seem to have a real gameplan for extended singles matches.

Jungle Boy worked a pretty fantastic PWG match against Jake Atlas at BOLA 2019, and hasn't come close to reaching that level in anything I have seen since.

So he has, or at least had it in him, but he certainly hasn't been showing it. As for the heel turn, I just can't see it working with his literal babyface. He's definitely your perfect face in peril tag worker.

How is a talent supposed to get better at something if they aren't given a chance to do it in the first place? I feel like its often forgotten or ignored that so much of the AEW roster never worked TV wrestling prior to the company, and are also still early into their careers. That was probably literally the first heel promo the guy ever cut and it was fine, although very generic I'M A HEEL, SEE type stuff. Content was pretty bleh, but he seemed comfortable enough with basically a 180 to what he's been doing for his entire career so far, and that bodes well for the future, imo.

I agree with you. I mean where else this guy going to learn?

its not like he can perfect this somewhere else.

We are very quick to judge anyone in this day and age. I’ll give it a couple months and see where we are at.

You obviously can't expect talent to improve at things without putting them in a position to do them, but that doesn't mean throwing them out there without a net and expecting them to sink or swim. If they had Perry cut his first heel promo on TV without any coaching or a rough script, they were setting him up for failure. Delivery is something that will hopefully improve as he becomes more comfortable talking, but the content was questionable as well. Calling his own girlfriend a bitch is something that should have been left on the cutting room floor for sure.

Perry has come off heelish during some of his personal appearances. At a convention, a fan asked him for advice on becoming a wrestler and he bluntly told him, "don't." He's also talked about not being into wrestling growing up at all. Says he brushes off veteran's advice that doesn't work his style, arrogant stuff. It's possible they decided to run with it a bit on this turn.

I'm certain losing his father at a young age affected Jack deeply, but he already sounds pretty jaded about the business when he's not in a great mood. I've seen other appearances where he came off better, however I believe his attitude might've influenced his booking.

Another thing Jack has mentioned is his habit of vomiting before matches, which sounds intense and stressful.

Juice/Ricky went way too long and ran out of steam in the back half, but that's gotta be the first time I've seen a drop down trip spot that wasn't comedy since the 70s.

Joey Samoey just non stop bangers in AEW, Joe/Punk 4 should be real interesting. Whole show for next week is looking :whoo:

Joe vs Punk

Hobbs vs Starks

FTR vs Bang Bang Gang

Athena vs Willow

It took me a second to parse what was actually going on with that spot because I'm so conditioned to read trip attempts as a transitional non-move but, once I picked it up, it was kinda awesome?

Overall, I think the match revealed that Juice is still better suited for tags (where he seems to be absolutely thriving with Jay White), so I'm really looking forward to that FTR match next week.
