sek69 Posted June 1 Author Posted June 1 Pretty much everyone has said Taker is one of the bookers there. I suppose you can argue the percentages of who does what, but him being in the room doesn't seem up for debate at this point.
El-P Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Not arguing he's part of the booking team or even that he is the "last word" guy. Just arguing that the guy who has been producing and doing dozens of other stuff for 20 years and been credited for being really good at it has probably something to do with it too. (damn, TNA could really use Borash these days)
sek69 Posted June 2 Author Posted June 2 For sure, the really great video package before the mask match had his fingerprints all over it.
sek69 Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 Naraku in NXT has been surprisingly great so far, nice to see him get to prove that it was the booking that was killing him with the HOT nonsense.
sek69 Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 Also I feel bad for Tate Wilder having to do a "crazy risk taker" gimmick in a world where Darby Allin exists.
The Thread Killer Posted June 13 Posted June 13 So the Final 4 of this year’s KOTR are Oba vs Dom and Jey vs Je’Von Evans. Normally, I would assume that Oba is just going to steamroll his way through the rest of the tournament, and go on to get a world title match at SummerSlam, except the conventional wisdom seems to be that he will be fighting Lesnar again, so I can’t figure out what their plan is for the winner of the tournament, and who will go on to get the shot at SummerSlam, and who the winner will face? The way things are going now it seems to look like Gunther is going to beat Cody for the title next Friday as well.
NotJayTabb Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Part of me thinks they've realised King Dom spells "kingdom", which feels like the kind of thing they'll run with.
Marlowe676 Posted June 16 Posted June 16 The Oba Femi booking has been terribly boring. The guy is a great wrestler and was putting on great matches in NXT for a few years. He can do a full match, he has a deep move set but it seems like HHH is falling back on- all main event WWE guys need to wrestle squashes only.
sek69 Posted June 16 Author Posted June 16 It seems like they are setting up Brock coming back to fuck over Oba in the finals to set up their rubber match. It's crazy to me that they had Goldberg-in-WCW lightning in a bottle and they have already beaten him once and it's looking like they are setting up beating him ago.
sek69 Posted June 20 Author Posted June 20 Man, they've stretched this Cody/Gunther/Sami thing well beyond its sell by date. Sami should have fully turned heel months ago, and Gunther should have won the belt at the PLE in Italy. Now everyone involved in this comes off lesser than they did going in.
The Thread Killer Posted Saturday at 05:26 PM Posted Saturday at 05:26 PM Welp, I guess they either aren’t doing Oba/Brock III at SummerSlam after all, or Oba is working both nights. I’m just glad we were spared a Jey Uso win and another Main Event run for him. I was getting nervous there for a minute.
WingedEagle Posted Saturday at 05:37 PM Posted Saturday at 05:37 PM So apparently today's the day I can't login to the ESPN gimmick despite having access through my cable company. Good times. I wouldn't pay an extra $30 a month for it, but not getting it at all when its supposed to be included with my cable package is somehow even more frustrating.
The Thread Killer Posted Saturday at 06:29 PM Posted Saturday at 06:29 PM Much like pretty much everything else involving Seth Rollins, I am finding this Rollins/Breakker Cage Match to be quite ponderous. And Michael Cole’s hysterical shrieking isn’t helping any. EDIT: And putting Rollins over by pinfall in the middle of the ring is a particularly stupid decision.
Monch Wrestling Posted Saturday at 08:08 PM Posted Saturday at 08:08 PM I stopped watching WWE last year. Made an exception for this show cause I just got a monthly Netlix subscription to mostly watch some movies and being in Europe it was airing at 7pm instead of midnight, so it was more convenient. I'm kinda glad I saw Sami win his first world title in the company, other than that the show didn't make me want to watch WWE again, ethical reasons aside. Oba vs. Jey was bad, Liv vs. IYO was underwhelming and the booking is really baffling, Liv hasn't defended her title once since she won it at Mania and she'll only do it at SummerSlam against the person who beat her in the KOTR final, that's comically bad. The cage match was enjoyable but really not up to the standard of what we can see in other places. Didn't watch the two US Championship matches. The main event was good with an actual surprising outcome.
