Either that or people love seeing Jericho get squashed by Hobbs.
-
Exactly. Not to mention that Dax went on the record saying that as soon as Vince came back to active duty in WWE, that pretty much killed any chance of them ever going back there. I think sometimes people forget that these guys publicly asked for their release and turned down huge contracts offers to stay in WWE in order to get away from Vince McMahon. As long as he is around, I don’t see them going back. Punk or no Punk.

The guy who was the alleged victim didn’t report it to the cops until hours later…after he went to work and worked his full shift…which is weird to me. If somebody pointed a gun at me, you can bet your ass I’d be calling 911 the minute it happened. But hey, if Wheeler actually did it, and they can prove he did it, then I don’t care what happens to him. If you are dumb enough to carry a gun around and point it at people (who aren’t pointing a gun at you or threatening your life in some other way) then you deserve whatever happens to you. But I just don’t believe everything I read. If he gets convicted in court, then I will be more likely to believe it. I worked in the criminal justice system long enough to learn not to blindly believe someone is guilty just because they got charged. I would like to hear all the facts before I pass judgment, not just the allegations.

I heard the exact opposite, no footage and no witnesses, but I was planning on waiting to pass judgement until it goes to court and all the facts come out. But you do you, bubba.

That Tag Title match was pretty damn good. -
Holy shit! I didn’t see that coming! I don’t hate it, though.

I thought this week’s Dynamite was just okay, at best. I found it way too talky, and there seemed to be a disproportionate amount of segments involving “character development.” Poor Tony K can’t seem to strike a balance between talk and action.

WWE TV 9/25 - 10/1 Tua is the tribal chief of the NFL

I agree that the Lesnar/Ambrose match sucked, but I find the story behind it especially hilarious. Moxley basically went to Lesnar and suggested doing a bunch of the ridiculous crap that he would later become famous for doing every single week on Dynamite…stupid Indy garbage, weapons, blood, and other typical Moxley crap. And Lesnar just shook his head and said “Nope. We’re not doing any of that.” Then Lesnar basically squashes him, and Moxley is so upset about it he goes and bitches about it on Austin’s podcast. And then gets a receipt from Heyman in that Inside the Ropes interview. All that was way more entertaining to me than the match ever could have been. -

WWE didn’t want Nakamura and Styles at Wrestlemania, it was AJ’s idea and he had to talk them into it. And then it blew up in his face when Nakamura under-delivered and gave a forgettable performance on the big stage. Kind of like he has with every single other big match and angle ever since he showed up there. -
AEW WrestleDream - Possibly on MAX after tonight?

I guess at this point, it looks like they are leading into MJF vs. Jay White for the World Title at Full Gear. I am sure that will be a perfectly serviceable match, but I don’t see White as much of a threat to actually win. Then again, if MJF’s contract really is up on December 31, Tony needs to get that belt off him ASAP. I’m not convinced he hasn’t already signed a new deal, but whatever. -
There was a TV channel in Hamilton Ontario, which had a close relationship with the WWF. CHCH TV 11. They broadcast Maple Leaf Wrestling on Saturday afternoons and also at 7 PM on Saturday evenings for the longest time. The last 15 minutes of every Saturday evening episode always had an exclusive Maple Leaf Gardens feature bout as the Main Event of the TV show. The amusing thing was that the main event match on TV was invariably one of the prelim matches from the previous month’s MLG house show and more often than not featured Jose Luis Rivera, Tiger Chung Lee, SD Jones or at best, Hamilton’s own Iron Mike Sharpe. The play-by-play was always Gorilla but the colour man usually rotated. If you were lucky you got Jesse Ventura. If not, you got Jimmy Hart, Luscious Johnny V, or the truly dreadful Billy Red Lyons.

After that performance I really hope Tony Khan doesn’t let The Workhorsemen vanish back into the Rampage/ROH invisibility vortex. They looked good there, they deserve more. If we have to see the damn Best Friends and Dark Order on TV all the damn time, why not these guys? -

I agree. I never would have thought that I would mark out over somebody carrying shoes around and throwing them at people, but here we are. -
Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

From what I remember, Hennig was pretty much used up by that point. I remember that he had a match with the Bulldog at Spring Stampede 98 that was particularly hard to watch. A good part of the blame for that lands on the Bulldog too, but I still remember they both looked awful and at one point they were using the ropes to hold themselves up. It was really sad, I have never forgotten it. -

Wrestlers (2023) - OVW documentary series on Netflix
The Thread Killer replied to C.S.'s topic in Pro Wrestling
I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I was going to. I decided to check out the first episode and ended up binging the entire series in one night. A lot of it was obviously set up and staged for dramatic effect like most documentary series are, but I found it highly entertaining. I just can’t believe the news that broke today that Haley J actually has a tryout with WWE. Either she has matured a tremendous amount in the past year, or she was putting on her behavioural and mental problems for this documentary, or WWE has really lowered their standards, because that poor kid is a trainwreck. Either that or she does the tryout and has no shot. Although you never know. She seems like a natural when it comes to her character and promo abilities. She is just a mess outside the ring. Between the domestic disputes, the drug use before her matches, and her walking out in the middle of an angle to work some WOW tapings… I don’t see her lasting long in a professional environment. This documentary did confirm my opinion about Al Snow. He somehow manages to always come across as a simultaneously compelling, sympathetic, and yet incredibly annoying and kind of insufferable “know it all” type person, all at the same time. Apparently, this documentary has already had a massive positive effect for OVW. Their YouTube and FITE Subscription numbers have gone up dramatically, their attendance is way up, and their next pay-per-view on FITE may actually break 74 buys lol. -
AEW TV - 9/13 - 9/16 - Bryans Final Countdown Begins

That gimmick would absolutely work if Keith Lee’s delivery was stronger. But he acts like he doesn’t even want to be there, almost disaffected and he stares at the ceiling, he barely speaks loud enough to be heard, and he falters when he talks. He is not an engaging public speaker. He doesn’t need to be Eddie Kingston, but a little conviction would be nice. If Jake Roberts taught us anything, it’s that you do not have to raise your voice or yell to be a good promo. But you do need to be able to deliver your dialogue convincingly. Keith Lee doesn’t. -

At least it looks like they are going to blow off this ridiculous angle on Rampage next week. I was afraid they were going to drag it out all the way to the PPV in October. But The Dark Order get their shot on Rampage, where nobody will see it. -

That’s exactly my problem with it. I’d be all for his promo style if it worked, but with him it definitely doesn’t. It just comes across as goofy.
