Holy crap. Copeland vs. Cage was pretty damn good, IMO.
-
That’s a nasty looking contusion over Copeland’s eye.

LOL at the fans booing Jericho. This could be a big problem for AEW if this story snowballs any further.
-
When is Tony Khan going to clue into the fact that the fans don’t want to boo Swerve?

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

If Jim Breaks killed his girlfriend after he had been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease, I really don’t think he can be held responsible. Verne Gagne killed another resident in his nursing home after he had been diagnosed, and nobody holds that against his legacy. I know Breaks was declared unfit to stand trial due to his condition and spent his final years in a confined hospital unit for dementia patients but I don’t know if he was suffering from the condition when the killing occurred. -

Give me a fucking break. Ridiculous decision. -
I agree. I don’t think Hangman Page has the promo chops to pull that off. Then again, he does come across as naturally unlikeable and kind of whiny. If they leaned into that they could really do something with it. Every time I think about his so-called “acting” abilities I am reminded of that ridiculous angle they did with him where he was constantly walking around with a glass of booze in his hand, crying.

I just marked out for the @MikeCampbell run in. Good to see you post here again Mike.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?

According to SRS, as of today it’s official and the following former WWE talent have now cleared their non-compete periods and are now able to sign wherever they wish, following their releases from WWE: Dolph Ziggler Mustafa Ali Elias Mace Mansoor Matt Riddle Shelton Benjamin Top Dolla Rick Boogs Dana Brooke Aliyah Dabbo-Kato/Commander Azeez Riddick Moss Emma Shanky Personally, I think it’s bullshit that they released Elias, meanwhile they still have Ezekiel sitting around under contract, but they aren’t using him. As I watched the Main Event it struck me that I’d be perfectly fine if I never saw Jon Moxley ever again. I never liked him to begin with, but he is getting pretty much unwatchable for me now. There is literally no part of his act that I like. Moxley is supposedly hurt, right? Why can’t Tony Khan give him an extended vacation? Lord knows he routinely disappears other guys for long stretches of time. Why not Moxley? Unrelated… I’m sure Tony Khan has a “plan” and it’s still very possible that Swerve wins and advances next week…but having Moxley beat Swerve (who is red hot) last week but turn around and lose to Jay White (who is not red hot) this week is just stupid. I know plenty of the AEW hardcores will argue TK is “telling a story” or some such bullshit, but I don’t buy it. Swerve is the hottest guy in the company right now. They should be riding that wave.

I saw some people speculating that it might be Richard Holliday or Alexander Hammerstone, which would be interesting considering their history as The Dynasty in MLW. And the AEW fans are actually online enough to get that reference. Both guys are free agents too. -

Agreed. He needs to be elevated into the main event scene and stay there, in the first three months of the new year at the latest. Otherwise, they are idiots. -

That Omega/Jericho vs. Bill/Starks segment was painful to watch. Maybe AEW needs writers after all. Yikes. -
I still can’t get over the fact that they are running a ROH PPV, but thanks to Tony Khan’s brilliant booking, there isn’t going to be a World Title match or a Tag Team Title match. Hell, I don’t even know if Gates of Agony will be back from Japan in time for there to be a 6 Man Title match. But there will be an Ethan Page vs. Tony Nese “I Quit” match…so at least there’s that.

When the tickets go on sale, let us know how much they are. I am curious if AEW learned their lesson from the last tour and is either going to lower prices or do something about secondary brokers buying up all the seats. Plus in theory, Quebec City is a “smaller market” than Toronto so the prices might be lower. What venue are they running, what’s the seating capacity and have you ever seen live wrestling there before?
-
I have to admit, I am kind of shocked that AEW is doing another Canadian tour this spring, considering how the last one was pretty much a disaster. Apparently the talent had no end of travel problems during the last one and on top of that the ticket sales were shit (due in no small part to the ridiculous ticket prices.) Plus, Tony was booking arenas which were way too big. At least this time he’s smartened up a bit and is running the Coca-Cola Colosseum in Toronto, which is the appropriate sized venue for AEW, as it seats maximum around 6000 for wrestling. Running Scotiabank Arena right before a pay-per-view, and then running Hamilton right after was a really stupid decision last time. Now I guess we’ll see if the tickets are $325 again.
