What kind of a backlash can Russo even suffer at this point? He has a podcast that probably a very small amount of people listen to and the people that DO listen to it regularly are probably fans of the shit he said on that podcast. I listened to the podcast by the way and some (not a lot) of the criticisms he made about the way people were covering wrestling on the podcast clips he used were valid. But he's so fucking stupid he continued to go back to that "these guys are gay bro" talking point that none of that is ever going to get talked about because of how moronic everything else he said was. The most ironically funny thing about the podcast though was him continuing to shit on indie groups & guys getting jobs working for indies WHEN HE'S THE BOOKER OF A TINY INDIE IN COLORADO

Using the term "casual fan" to describe those people is pretty wild. Even leaving out the tape trading part that is, at a bare minimum, like 90% of the WWE audience.
-
Yesterday I saw one of the usual arguments on twitter about "casual fans" and how dumb they all must be to only watch WWE or be Roman Reigns fans. At this point following WWE requires, at the bare minimum, 5 hours of weekly television watching. There really isn't anything "casual" about the fandom of someone who devotes 5 hours a week to watching wrestling. If you add in PPVs, 205 Live, NXT, Talking Smack etc the number only goes higher. Isn't it time to pretty much retire the term "casual fan" for someone who watches Raw and Smackdown every week? How much time does someone have to devote to watching wrestling every week before they can stop being looked down on?

A Forbes contributor blog is not the same thing as Forbes.

I really don't think they are going to do a "superstar shakeup" AND a draft. This is the draft they've just changed the name,

Because Smackdown is the better show and that would completely fuck Smackdown over. Smackdown is already stuck with trash like Ambrose, Dolph & Bray in the upper midcard, don't need to take AJ away and replace him with even more trash.
-
No idea why people are saying this, I've also seen it multiple times on twitter. They've done way more with Jack Gallagher in the little time that he's been in WWE than they ever did with the Vaudevillains. They're not sticking him in that dumb dead end tag team.

Yes. I've seen people talking about how his character has just recently jumped the shark and I'm like he did that at Extreme Rules 3 years ago with that stupid finish to the John Cena cage match. His character has always been lame as hell.
-
I'd buy into that a little more if they'd have had him lose the belt instead of retain it clean.

Les Freeman was pretty much just a jobber there and I'm sure if you were searching that name all you got is stuff about the character from The Wire.
-
Most of the people I know do far more watching of television off their DVRs than they do actually watching the show when it airs.

Yes! Everyone should read that article it's really good. I meant to post that in here when I read it a week or so ago but I guess I forgot.

Because they are "so-called smart" fans and not actually intelligent.

I frequently have trouble deciding who is worse although Ziggler annoys me more because he's on Smackdown which I actually care about. As much as I think Rollins is a bad promo I think Ziggler is even worse like I can't even IMAGINE how bad Ziggler getting all the mic time that Rollins got in 2015 would have been.

I feel like Cesaro & Sheamus, at least, will probably end up on Smackdown. Possibly New Day too. Honestly the SD tag division would probably be just fine if just Cesaro & Sheamus go over there. You could get a ton of mileage out of switching around the pairings between the 3 teams of them, Usos & American Alpha.

I hope they never turn Roman because as a man who enjoys reading very bad wrestling takes, he brings out the best of the worst.

Orton was such a bad house show draw when they moved him over to Smackdown to be the top guy there that they had to give up on him and MARK HENRY's run on top was a bigger draw. Reigns sells more merchandise than anyone in WWE not named John Cena and his house show numbers are around the average if not slightly above. Nowhere near Orton on 2011 Smackdown level bad.

The year was 2006. People were saying this exact same thing about John Cena. He went on to become the biggest star in pro wrestling. The year was 2007. People were saying this exact same thing about John Cena. He went on to become the biggest star in pro wrestling. The year was 2008. People were...ahh you get the point I hope. Cena's booking was absolutely atrocious. So bad that I wrote about it:http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/36821-wwes-awful-booking-of-cena-from-2005-2006/ Cena was and is a much bigger star than Reigns. He drew better and more people were watching each week, but his longterm forced push also did cause WWE to lose 25% of it's audience during its time: https://staticseekingalpha.a.ssl.fastly.net/uploads/2015/12/2/36229206-1449098933444331-Wayne-Duggan.png Rather dubious to claim Cena's push was responsible for a downward ratings trend that had already been in place for years before he ever got a big push.

So I watched WrestleMania this morning, or most of it, I skipped HHH/Rollins and Wyatt/Orton because I wanted to get to Goldberg/Lesnar and Taker/Reigns and reading this thread I probably won't go back to watch those. I thought it was overall a good show and way better than last year. I don't know why people feel this overwhelming NEED to watch it live if they aren't in the building because I can assure you it's far more enjoyable when you can skip the videos, entrances & other filler. The pre-show was pretty good, I really liked Neville/Aries and dug the finish and Neville going to Aries' eye to get out of the Last Chancery. I liked Mojo winning the battle royal because I said on twitter that if Braun wasn't going to win it then the next best thing would be Mojo. I don't care what people say about him, Mojo is going to be a big star for WWE. I didn't really care for Corbin/Ambrose though. AJ/Shane was WAY better than I expected it to be. I guess I can kind of see where people would not like how evenly matched it was but fuck it, I thought it was a damn good match and one of the best matches on the show. Certainly better than Jericho/Owens which did nothing for me and had the misfortune of having to immediately follow it. The Raw women's title four way started off REALLY good with Nia Jax looking like a great monster heel but then she got eliminated and things kind of went downhill. Sasha and Charlotte's eliminations both felt really anticlimactic. The right person won though. The tag title match was a fun car crash type match and The Hardys winning was a nice moment but I also feel like them coming back really took away a chance to give Enzo & Cass a big moment of their own. I found the mixed tag to be a big disappointment honestly. I guess I shouldn't have expected a great match out of it but Miz just dominating Cena leading to a hot tag and a quick finish didn't do much for me. I felt if they were gonna go that route then they should have just let Nikki get the spotlight and the win on her own. The post match proposal was predictable but also fun wrestling BS and I hope we get an in ring wedding to go along with their real one. I skipped HHH/Rollins & Orton/Bray and will probably never go back and watch them. No big loss as I don't care about any of those guys as wrestlers or characters. I thought Goldberg/Lesnar was really good and exactly what it needed to be. I was kind of surprised they didn't give Goldberg a small comeback but it was probably better that they didn't. Roman/Taker was probably too long but it was about as good a match as you can get out of Taker in his current state. The amount of people trying to act like the match wasn't great because of ROMAN is mind boggling in it's stupidity.

After seeing how Sanity looked last night, I feel like this is about the best take on them anyone could possibly have:

Or you could actually watch it and then comment on it with your scary funny bits, instead of a useless post about how you aren't going to watch the subject that's being discussed. What sort of maniac needs to go into a discussion to tell everyone he isn't going to watch what's being discussed?Seek help. The same kind of maniac who makes sure to post a dozen times to tell you about how much he doesn't care about the Mania card.
-
Or Vince not really having trust in Mauro to be THE voice of WWE could be because he's not really very good and isn't what they want in their announcer as evidenced by the fact they put Tom Phillips on Smackdown to introduce all the video packages or talk about stuff on the Network or Total Divas.

I guess all those good Junkyard Dog matches that have been uploaded onto NWAOnDemand aren't real then.

Because generally the fans that go out of their way to proudly wear that "smart fan" label and shit on "casuals" who go to house shows and buy Cena & Reigns merchandise are generally the dumbest fans of all.
