  1. This needs further examination. Just what does one of those "Valet must spend _X_ amount of time with the winner" contracts entail?
  2. I agree that the new Ryback character has been really entertaining. I think he has the potential to be a really strong heel for them if they keep this gimmick up, he would make an especially good foil for Bryan right now.
  3. Yea but signing a fat guy out of England who was old, hadn't wrestled in the States before and had pretty much been retired for years was a pretty odd signing.
  4. I'm not a WWE apologist, and I myself have not watched Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio either, although I'm sure I'll enjoy it when I go back and watch the rest of the card. I just skipped to the two main events with the intent to watch the rest when I have more time. I've actually done this with every Del Rio PPV match from the last 3 months. But they wound up being my favorite matches of the card the past 2 months against Dolph Ziggler. Ever since the double turn match at Payback I feel like Del Rio has really stepped up his game. I thought his babyface run was a terrible miscast and even the end of his last heel run felt really tired. But now I'm interest in him in the first time in over a year. He's gotten more vicious in the ring and making some character changes like dumping Ricardo. Now all he needs is some super hot valet. And someone to have a real feud with. The Dolph deal was overshadowed by the AJ stuff and the Christian match was pretty much just thrown together.
  5. I know this is rightfully being overshadowed, but it really was a great segment. Ryback as a combination of Biff Tannen/The O'Doyles is really working for me right now. I thought Punk/Lesnar was better than Bryan/Cena. Lesnar/Punk was incredibly violent, Lesnar looked like more of a monster than in any of his matches since coming back. I felt like Bryan/Cena suffered from starting with the false finishes/finishers/finisher reversal "epic main event" stuff way too early.
  6. Al Madril is a pretty good choice. By the time they started pushing him as a heel in WCCW you could tell it was WAY down from the peak era.
  7. They were just in the main event againt Cena,Bryan and Orton recently. While they've settled down a bit, they still have enough cred to slide into a big main event whenever necessary. I think Big Show's slow return from injury is also hurting them, as they wanted to do Big Show/Henry vs. The Shield at SummerSlam but that took them into a holding pattern waiting to see if he'd come back in time.
  8. Agree with this and also throwing Scott Hall into the mix for best punches. I remember RVD throwing some really terrible punches in his match with Jericho a few weeks ago.
  9. I've only seen a little Central States footage but none of it was good. Really bad production values and very weak talent pool.
  10. There was a huge 90 some disc set of GWF that was uploaded to XWT-Classics maybe about a year ago. I got about the first 40 discs or so and have watched probably the first 10. I wish I had gotten the whole set before it disappeared off the tracker because I've found it to be a very enjoyable show.

I am way behind in my Raw watching and am just now getting to the episode where Daniel Bryan runs the gauntlet. But I want to say how much I am completely in love with Brad Maddox's character. I know everyone is tired of the wrestling authority figure but I feel like Maddox is a very fresh, fun take on the concept. I read someone on this board or DVDVR say he feels more like the son of Eric Bischoff than Bischoff's own son in TNA and I see a lot of that too.

I never really cared for Del Rio before but I've actually been digging him a lot more since his 2nd heel run started. I thought the double turn match at Payback was very good, and like the additional aggression he's been showing in the Ziggler matches.

I hadn't finished watching the MITB PPV until today, putting off the Ziggler/Del Rio match because it was the match I was the least interested in. But man, this pairing really surprised me again. I thought their double turn/title change match last month at Payback was the best match on the show, and this one was another really good match although with a shitty finish. I haven't seen any of Dolph's TV matches since becoming a face but his two PPV matches with Del Rio have greatly exceeded my expectations. I'm willing to get on the very back of the Dolph Ziggler bandwagon, ready to jump off at any time. I also think Del Rio needs some kind of impact finisher targeting the head because I'm really digging these matches where he focuses on the head instead of the arm.
  14. This isn't really possible when Vince can just swoop in and steal their big stars. The reason that Memphis stayed alive is that Jerry Lawler was a part owner and wasn't going to leave. Portland lasted longer than most of the others because Don Owen owned the building he ran his shows in.
  15. If I could get the files I could easily put them up on XWT Classics.
  16. Chyna, Lita, Sunny, Sable, Ivory, Victoria, Jacqueline, Woman, Madusa, Jazz, Natalya, Kaitlyn, Maryse, Melina, Tiffany (ECW Commish with no last name)...nothing new.
  17. Nothing says that he IS interested, just that they have an idea to bring him back. Which is stupid and I don't think it's something Austin would come back for. Especially since that seems like a match Triple H is going to win in the end.
  18. I don't know how they expected ratings to go up for iMPACT SOLELY because the show went on the road. Maybe if they spent some of that $600,000 per taping on marketing they could find a way to grow their audience. Plus the fact that they've been focusing on such a lame stable for so long has killed any of the momentum they had a year ago around the time they put the title on Austin Aries.
  19. I love DVDVR and I don't think it's been "dying" by any means, except for crashing way too frequently. I AM pretty unsettled by the idea of losing all the old posts, especially the 80s project forum.

I can't imagine this would make you very happy if you were CM Punk.

This is not some new internet age phenomenon. Guys who had runs under shitty names/gimmicks have always got crap about it from the crowd. Terry Taylor got rooster calls for years after he stopped being the Red Rooster. I remember being at a WCW house show in the early 90s and a bunch of people including my Dad giving him a bunch of crap about being the Red Rooster.
  22. Yea but the Bronco Buster & the Stinkface were a lot worse because X-Pac and Rikishi never really did anything interesting to get someone in that position. At least Rey works at doing it in different ways in big matches or long feuds.
  23. That's a pretty shrewd business move as there is definitely a market of people who would pay $75 for a picture of them spooning Sunny, but that's gonna be a really uncomfortable few hours.
  24. None of that is as bad as having moves that you NEVER hit. Like how Bubba Ray used to always miss a senton and Flair always went up to the top rope just to get slammed off. It would be like having a guy in the NBA go for a dunk every game and never ever make it.
  25. It does kind of surprise me that Mark Madden didn't wind up in TNA at the very beginning. The way he is kissing Jarrett and Russo's ass I thought would have surely got him in the door there. I guess we have Jerry Jarrett to thank for keeping that from happening, although Don West was never really any good until they turned him heel.
