  1. I guess I'll be a fellow wrestling hipster because I agree with this. Never saw Gordy or Rude as GREAT wrestlers, more like really good.

    WWE TV April 18-24

Yea I saw that on twitter and it is the greatest pic of all time. I don't feel like going to the normal awful wrestling places but I am positive there are quite a few smark tears over that pic because "How could the top babyface think that is ok!?"
  3. Watch that match with AJ I posted a page or so ago and you will see why he gets so much hate. Its beyond excess into parody.
  4. It helped him with me. The Gordy Texas Death Match, getting a good Chain Match out of Angel of Death, the Dibiase tags added to the stuff from the 80s set convinced me to place him. And him pressing Eddie Gilbert over his head and then running in place will always be one of the most impressive spots in wrestling.
  5. There is a really good Hogan/Kamala match too but I don't want to put the wrong date.
  6. Who are you to deny Barood his rightful place?
  7. Yea I've never heard a crowd come unglued for chops the way they would for Lawler's punches after dropping the strap. Heck, or even Hogan's punches after a Hulk Up.
  8. And Taker/Big Show did manage to finally have a really good match. Sometime after Big Show's return when he was in pretty good shape. He never did manage to do that with Kane though.
  9. I don't see how people can bitch about Hogan or Undertaker and turn around and vote for Onita. Seems like a paradox to me. NB: In five years time, I'll probably be telling people he's better than Misawa and Kawada. I voted for all 3 (with Taker being much farther down my list than Onita and Hogan) EDIT: Rude is still in? Yea he's officially been over rated then.
  10. More interesting would have been if he'd never gone back to being "The Deadman" and stayed the "American Bad Ass." It had some bad moments for sure but he did have the great HIAC match with Brock during that run but I loved his heel run where he was beating up on young guys like Maven & Jeff Hardy. He was also a GREAT promo during that time period. The promo with him in the graveyard before the Buried Alive match with Vince is one of the best promos ever imo.
  11. The only times I feel like they had momentum were at the height of Joe's undefeated streak, around the time Angle came in. And then they kind of ruined Joe by having him lose too much to Angle. The 2nd time was when Aries won the title and the show was actually being booked pretty well and people were actually praising it online. Then they started the Aces and Eights thing that dragged on wayyyy to long and everyone lost interest again.
  12. I eagerly await Dylan vs. AJPW consensus. But it better not come before he does the update to the "Dylan compares HHH to..." thread.
  13. I am someone who will most likely be the sole #1 vote for a candidate and I didn't make the case for them in their thread. I thought the guy had a decent chance of placing pretty well and I worried there may be some backlash like Parv got for his Flair case. I will definitely defend the vote once his ranking is revealed. You should have noticed pretty much no one else got any kind of backlash for pimping their candidates. No one came after Elliot for making a big case on Satanico or OJ for pimping a lot of British guys. Mostly because they didn't try to insinuate that people's reasons for not voting their guy #1 was because they were trying to be "trendy" or "cute" with their ballots. There's nothing wrong with making a case for a guy until you start trying to attack people's intentions for not seeing them as the super awesome great candidate that you do.
  14. Watch this match and say that again. This is worse than any of the "self conscious epic" Taker Mania matches. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xbtymd_tna-kurt-angle-vs-aj-styles_sport Somehow they wrote than IN PRAISE of this fucking terrible match.
  15. The Festus match proves you wrong. And Angle would have probably had the Festus doing ankle lock reversals and other really stupid shit.
  16. When the fuck did Taker ever moonsault off a cage?? And LOL
  17. The only thing Angle factors in about fans is that they pop when someone does a 2.9 finisher kick-out and thus spent nearly 10 years of his career trying to do that in every single match.
  18. Undertaker at least has some memorable and "so bad it's good" wrestlecrap. I'd take him over Angle whose lows are just "holy shit how many finisher kickouts are you going to do in this match??"
  19. I love Jimmy Redman's comment about Taker. While that last Kane feud may not have been anywhere near his best in-ring work, I think it was the best character work of his career. Kane's too for that matter.
  20. I'm hoping Hogan finishes in the top 50, maybe even top 25.
  21. That 2nd Tanahashi pic is very funny to me.
  22. I think the biggest difference between Benoit & Carlos Colon is that we know for a 100% fact that Benoit killed his wife and son. Unless you're subscribing to the "But it had to be Kevin Sullivan because he worshipped the Devil!" conspiracy theory. The only "proof" we have of Colon being involved in the murder of Bruiser Brody is shoot interviews which are well known to be full of lies and exagerrations.
  23. Glad Onita made the 100. He was in my top 50 and one of the few Japanese wrestlers that I ranked. He is even more impressive to me by making me care about him when he's working a style that I really don't care for. But that's probably more because the rest of the guys who worked that style weren't nearly as compelling as characters or as good at selling.
  24. Heel Teddy Long is a good manager, but fat babyface manager for jobbers Teddy Long was completely pointless.
  25. As far as the "Jeff, the ultimate ass kicker" thing he had going in early TNA, it felt way more to me like Russo booking Jeff in a way that he could live through him vicariously. Especially in the early days when they a bunch of different NWA authority figures and Jeff Jarrett would talk trash about them and beat them up. That totally felt like Russo booking Jeff to do the things that Russo wanted to do in reality.
