  1. And Marufuji while an awful GHC Champio IS a step up from Yuji Nagata.
  2. I know All Japan has been garbage for over a decade now but Doering with the Triple Crown seems like rock bottom for them.
  3. They did a really great job of selling Valiant as being seriously injured after he got clotheslined with the ax handle. Paul Jones showing off his injured arm and how mad he was while talking was also good stuff. I was disappointed in the Blanchard/Houston match on the 4/20 World Wide. I thought their match on the 4/3 WCW show was a lot better.
  4. I'm not 100% sure but I think Dusty Rhodes slapped Baby Doll on the 3/2/1985 episode of World Wide.
  5. There's also Valiant breaking the arm of Jones in March but I don't remember the exact date.

I saw this on World Wide Wrestling but I think it was on the Mid-Atlantic show. Paul Jones, the Barbarian and Superstar Billy Graham injury Jimmy Valiant with the ax handle on World Wide Wrestling TV Title Match: Dusty Rhodes © vs. Krusher Khruschev on World Championship Wrestling
  7. The Sara Del Ray vs. Ophidian match from the 12 Large Summit was a really good match and I hate intergender matches.
  8. I had expected it to be 90% American talent after the first few months.
  9. There's been a lot of Indy stuff but the quality has been so good it's hard to argue against what they've been putting out. The Evolve set was absolutely awesome and the last Chikara/RoH sets were great too.
  10. Yeah, the indy stuff has gotten expensive.
  11. It took 7 weeks of Superstars and Wrestling Challenge but there was finally a match I would consider good. Steamboat/Sharpe from the 10/18/86 episode of Superstars was really short but really fun.
  12. I've been playing for 13 years. More of a Legends and Indy player than a Champions guy these days.
  13. Might be Dalton too.
  14. I've found a lot more enjoyment in wrestling as I've let go of the workrate mentality. Digesting products as a whole and having the big matches in context is what really drives me to watch anymore.
  15. I just think I didn't get it the first time around. I was too stuck on his ring work. I think the way they slowly brought him back on World Wide Wrestling made a big difference. I had several promos and some brawls before he worked a match. The character and ring work mesh a lot better that way to me. I wouldn't want to see him in a 20 minute match or anything but he brings a really nice unique flavor to the shows. I loved when he and Buzz Tyler paid off some jobbers so they could wrestle Kabuki and the Barbarian.
  16. When I watched a lot of World Championship Wrestling from 1985-1986 in 2007 and some in 2008, I couldn't stand Jimmy Valiant. That whole feud really bored me. I started watching JCP from the start of 1985 and I'm really enjoying the hell out of Valiant this time around. It's been a really weird opinion change. Like the things that used to annoy me with him make me actually like him now.
  17. I was the same as Loss except I stayed away for about 5 years after about 6 months of denial. Honestly this year is the most I've watched wrestling since that happened.
  18. And the catch is. He wasn't leaving for more money. He was leaving so he would actually get paid. I remember reading an interview or a recap of a shoot with him about it and he said he was driving all over the place and not getting paid and he had had enough. I don't see how anyone could still hold something against the guy.
  19. It amazes me that guys like Mike Awesome still get vilified for jumping ship on ECW.
  20. First episode of JCP on World Championship Wrestling tonight. This is a much better experience with the 3 months of context that World Wide Wrestling has provided for me. Was there a better tv worker in 1985 than Tully Blanchard? I'm on April 6th and his match with Sam Houston was probably the 4th or 5th good match I've seen him involved in so far this year.
  21. Superstar Billy Graham standing there doing karate chops while Paul Jones talks cracks me up every time. What a bizarre gimmick for him to use.
  22. The Ugly: The Radicalz leaving WCW. That's when I saw that it was never getting better. You could always kind of tell yourself that WCW had better workers even if the product was bad. But that really felt like a shift and suddenly the WWF had a better product in every regard.
  23. I watched about 6 episodes of World Wide Wrestling over the last few days. I'm up to 4/6/85 which means I'll start watching World Championship Wrestling along with it. It's absolutely amazing how much the product changed in the month of March. Arn Anderson, Buddy Landell and Pez Whatley show up and immediately make impacts. Arn and Manny start feuding immediately and Landell picked a fight with Magnum TA after he won the U.S. belt. That segment was awesome actually. TA is celebrating his victory when JJ and Landell walk up. Landell said that when TA's chick wanted a real man to give her his card. Such a great dick move. The Russians won the World Tag Titles, Dusty won the TV Title, Buzz Tyler won the Mid-Atlantic belt and Magnum TA won the U.S. belt. The week before they started on TBS they were suddenly advertising shows in Philadelphia and Schiavone was using the "major leagues of professional wrestling" tag line that he liked using on TBS..
  24. My friend was a lapsed fan and got the free trial and then signed up because he could get a $25 gift card. I had been trying to sell him on giving NXT a try for about a year. He watches the old ECW tv here and there and watches NXT weekly now. He hadn't been an active fan since maybe 2004.
  25. I honestly couldn't even tell you the day it comes out of my account. Plus I did get a $25 gift certificate for getting my friend to sign up. I played WOW in the early days and no one remembers the issues there used to be with that game even 5 years ago.
