Wrestlers who are BOTH Overrated and Underrated
Mad Dog replied to Microstatistics's topic in Pro Wrestling
He would for underrated but I don't think it's possible to overrate him. Watch this: In the 00s, he was still better than 3/4ths of the WWE roster! Okay, that's overrating him. I meant historically I don't think you can overrate him. -

He's kind of the Sarah Jessica Parker of wrestlers.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Mad Dog replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Also on Jeff Jarrett. I think he's one of Kurt Angle's best opponents for his career. He actually forced Angle to slow down and give some meaning to the spots in the matches. I also though Double M-A Jarrett was a great heel persona. -
I was watching some Mid-Atlantic the other day and my wife was like "is this the one with the really ugly guy." After talking through it with her I realized she was talking about Kerry Von Erich. She thinks Kerry is fucking ugly.

The Planet Jarrett stuff also had a payoff unlike the HHH stuff. You get to Bound For Glory, Sting no sells the guitar and beats him. That's it for Jarrett the main eventer. The last shot of him is him dejected in the corner as Sting celebrates. It was actually a really satisfying end to his run. -
We also live in a world where they've managed to find lost episodes of hundreds of Doctor Who episodes the past decade. There is no way they don't have the footage.
-
That's also impossible. I was able to torrent 2002-2008 in a matter of hours. Even if they lost the footage, you can find it.

I never got them selling Tommy Rich as attractive.
-
My wife's top 3 all time: John Morrison Bret Hart Finn Balor She says Finn without paint is still attractive but Finn in demon paint is super hot.
-
Yeah, I think it says a lot about Trevor Lee that it took 2 years for it to start getting old.
-
I will say that my enjoyment of CWF Mid-Atlantic has started to decrease as Trevor Lee's title defenses always go long. It was kind of cool at first but it's slowly become "oh look, a Trevor Lee match, bet this is going 35 minutes."
-
In my experience the main events hold up well and certain matches have aged better than you think. A lot of the undercards haven't.

I mean you can barely hear the music on those early shows because the audio was so shitty. But they let the DVDs go out of print a long time ago too. I think they just want to put the bear minimum in for the most profit.

Fedor was washed up long before that Rogers fight. Remember Affliction and Bodog where he was getting super cherry picked opponents, who were washed up, and then the media pretended like they were top flight opponents.

AJPW and it's not even close. RoH had some stretches of brilliance in the 00s but there was also a lot of down times. I loved Joe's reign, Summer of Punk and the CZW feud. AJPW has like a 5 year stretch of hitting it out of the park .

It has to be that they are lazy and don't want to take the time and effort to convert the shows to the new format. Some of those old DVDs go for a lot of money on eBay so there's obviously a demand for it. I was trying to get old shows a few years ago and after weeks of dealing with eBay just said fuck it and did a torrent of everything. I was willing to give them hundreds of dollars and they have no interest in it. If you get Chikaratopia, they have every show they've ever done on there. I don't see why it's so difficult.

My rules vary by if I am there live or if I am watching at home. I want a live show to be 3.5 hours at the most. Past that and I'm more concerned about how much my back and butt hurt than I am with what's in the ring. At home, if a match is super long, I can always take a break and come back to it.

I don't feel like he really has much of a character to begin with honestly. He's kind of the golden boy that acts like he's the golden boy except when they are trying to pretend the golden boy is an underdog. He's not like Joe, Ambrose or Lesnar where you kind of just understand who they are. Like I've watched Reigns promos and matches and if you wanted me to actually nail down his character I don't think I could.

Honor Club managed to be worse. I could actually find stuff on the old system.
-
It's okay, you wouldn't be able to find it even if it was there.
-
Seriously? I had no idea they were making that much money from this thing. If I am not mistaken, isn't Wrestlemania pretty much the financial cornerstone of their entire fiscal year? If this show made more than that...I guess we'd better get used to shows in Saudi Arabia. Never underestimate how much money rich people will spend when they have more money than they know what to do with.

I'm right there with you. I've been, at best, a fair-weather WWE fan since 2004. I generally tune in for RumbleMania and bow out after the post-mania RAW. I think I hung on a little too long this time. I've definitely got a bad taste in my mouth now. There are several potentially good things going on in WWE right now (e.g. Asuka, Bryan, Rusev Day, Styles, Andrade “Cien” Almas, Nia Jax working as a monster face... Hiroki Sumi...) but WWE itself is just not anywhere close to my idea of "good" any more. In a way, I think I'm kind of lucky that WM and GRR were such a chore to sit through. I got a few nice pops out of it (Asuka and Nak's Rumble wins, Bryan's return, Rousey's good match, Asuka vs Flair, the hot tag from Shane to Bryan...) and now I can happily ignore almost everything that happens (barring maybe an interesting Bryan or Asuka match that I hear about on these boards) until the Rumble next year. I try, I really do but the TV is just so fucking tedious to sit through.
