  1. Could be as simple as it's harder to get turned down or held up when you tell them on camera.
  2. I never tried the Peacock app, but I had no issues using my Fire for the WWE Network.
  3. Response to Memphis Mark. Impact actually was doing a bit of that pre-pandemic. I attended a show in Scranton that was co-promoted between Impact and a small Indy, and the night before they ran Hazleton, PA. One issue I've seen though from the indies is that the mid-week show is gone. Promotions run Friday/Saturday/Sunday shows and I don't think indy workers are getting enough matches.

    Unboxing the 80s

Worth noting though that except for Wrestlemania 2, the shows were competing in separate markets. You couldn’t just choose to watch the Crockett Cup without actually traveling to the show.
  5. Usually network launches bring server crashes. Peacock isn't *new* per say, but so far it seems they have come through.
  6. Star ratings (numerical ratings in general) really don't stand up to rigorous analyzation. I remember reading Roger Ebert saying he didn't like to do them, but Gene Siskel and the Tribune had them. Readers demand them, but the substance of the review counts more.
  7. I have the action figure!
  8. That Shane McMahon drew so much interest is still completely inexplicable to me. I have never worked a match, never trained, never noticed a thigh slap and I can still tell that his work is completely awful. And I don't think he has the charisma to cover it.
  9. Sometimes the most mundane moves are the ones that would hurt a person the most. A hammerlock is incredibly painful. I think the abdominal stretch is an old hooking hold the old timers would use in training. Richard Belzer passed out from a chinlock.
  10. Jerry Lawler vs. Kerry Von Erich at Superclash III. That was actually shaping up to be a great match but both the finish and the way it was executed completely demolished any goodwill they may have generated.
  11. Yeah, they're clearly stalling and Michaels gives up the pinfall attempt early. It was a perfectly acceptable finish as booked, just botched.

I think Christian is honestly worse than the explosion. At least the non-explosion is something interesting that happened. Christian is just...meh.
  13. I certainly don't mind discouraging it, but putting the financial onus on wrestlers (assuming this is accurate) is petty.

    NWA Powerrr

Maybe I'm just getting older maybe but in this age of Patreon people are more inclined to financially support a niche product they enjoy in some minimal manner. Edited to include maybe. I'm just spitballing, not making an assertion.
  15. Did Vince Sr. even have many giants? Andre, Gorilla Monsoon, Haystacks Calhoun, then I kinda draw a blank. Early Big John Studd wasn't really a giant. Killer Kowalski was a beanpole by the '70s. I imagine him deliberately avoiding giants to make Andre seem more unique.
  16. Just read that Johnny DeFazio passed. Kind of a local legend of Pittsburgh. John DeFazio, former longtime Allegheny County Council member, has died (msn.com)
  17. A little off-topic, but a mock-documentary style show about Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair circa 1979-81 would be interesting. The old champion and the two younger challengers vying over who should carry the belt. Find someone to play Happy Humphrey and you've got yourself an Emmy.
  18. The problem is the ideal method of booking Andre ceased to exist post-expansion. In Vince Sr’s era you cycled a special attraction, kept it on the road through various audiences and only displayed them a couple times a year. Once cable television comes around you can’t really do that. You couldn’t book Andre the same way today if you wanted to.
  19. I feel like I deserve a plaque or something.
  20. It also leads to poor environmental factors. African americans are more likely to live in neighborhoods near industrial zones. So air, water pollution, those are community factors.
  21. That's really something that wrestling is missing these days. Not all small wrestling shows are worth watching. Some are quite bad. But inexperienced performers need a place to practice and sometimes fall on their faces.
  22. It's where we say positive things about Lars Sullivan that must never see the light of day.
  23. Folks, I didn't watch last night but I collected my final moon in Super Mario Odyssey doing that damned jump rope challenge.
