Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Cobra Commander replied to TravJ1979's topic in Pro Wrestling
Just watched Wild Wild Country on Netflix. I guess the Mega Maharishi's Portland run just wasn't meant to last long enough for them to bring in a Ma Anand Sheela ripoff while Wiskoski took a vow of public silence. Not to be confused with the Jerry Gray run as Mega Maharishi/The Guru. -
Terry Funk weighs in on Biden/Trump feud

"If those guys went at it, it would be a very, very shitty thing to watch" is the description of several potential 2020 matchups -
makes me want to look around to see if the Segunda Caida podcasts are still online somewhere because that reminded me of the joke about Hogan selling Styles' Pele Kick when Hogan was coming into TNA in like 2010.

yeah, I was kinda expecting the Asuka/Alexa finish to be Nia Jax doing a run-in and chasing Alexa off for an Asuka countout win (also would have been a good opening for them to act like Nia Jax was gonna get Asuka disqualified to unintentionally end her streak before just doing a countout). It seems like the taking a powder intentional countout just never really gets much heat and makes you wonder why the face just stands in the ring instead of pursuing the heel. Also, the jargon can get real stupid sometimes. I say this as somebody who has friends in another field who used the phrase "restoring the cuts" as a way to describe their stance of repealing cuts and restoring funding. If a hospital is a local medical facility, was Roman almost sent to a 'local law enforcement facility' by the 'US Marshalls'? I'm guessing enough fake cops have been beat up on wrestling shows that fans don't need a Wattsian explanation about how Reigns will avoid charges in exchange for filming some AdCouncil PSAs.

so Kane is the Dominic DeNucci to Undertaker's Bruno in this feud? and it seemed like they had already done a "Kane is gone so Glen Jacobs can run for County Mayor" moment a few weeks ago

I can't say this is a stronger HOF class than one of the post-revival HOF classes. Best since (x), yeah, probably. Of course, the reason why the 2004/05/06/07 classes were so strong involved not doing it for 7 1/2 years and owning virtually the entire history of the business (instead of not being able to induct the half of the business which worked for WCW). So, it's not a totally fair comp. For reference if anybody was fuzzy on who was inducted when 2004 was Heenan, Ventura, Graham, Slaughter, Santana. 2005 was Hogan, Piper, Jimmy Hart, Orndorff 2006 was Bret Hart, Eddie, Okerlund 2007 was Dusty, Lawler, Ross, Hennig Of course, I might be glossing over the meaning of "personal level" here

The crazy thing is that he was in the WWF for most of 79 and early 1980 as things were really starting to pick up in Iran. Not sure if they didn't lean into the whole thing more because of security or good taste or Sheik actually having been a bodyguard for the Shah or that he started in the fed as an 'Arab' from Iran so he couldn't drop the Arab stuff. But they tried to get more heat off of Arab/OPEC issues over that time. To put it in context, the Hostage crisis started in November 1979 while he was still in NY and getting occasional matches with Backlund It took until 1982-ish in Florida for the Killer Karl Kox using FOIA to dox the Iron Sheik. So perhaps they had to wait for things to cool a little to not seem so exploitative. Then again... some of the same people brought Sheik back in 1991 as an Iraqi, because I'm guessing the talent pool of people they could bring in to tag with Slaughter (or tag with Adnan) was a bit thin.

I think Bix's timeline on Lance Russell moving to Pensacola might be a bit off. I read stuff saying he moved there in 1999 Only a three hour flight (Pensacola-Atlanta-Memphis) from Pensacola to Memphis -
Lars Sullivan is a great random 70s wrestler name As opposed to previous random names generated in the past that didn't sound like the name of an old wrestler who worked Knoxville in 1977

re: Dylan Miley I attended an NXT Show on Thursday night where Miley beat Cezar Bononi in a few minutes and Miley's finish got a pop. So that could be an isolated incident, or maybe there'd be some potential of him getting cheered (at least as a heel) Wikipedia also claims Dylan Miley is his real name. If true, that'd seem like a guy that should go under a pseudonym.

Was that the A show in the late 80ies or was it Superstars? Superstars was where most of the angles actually happened, but everything was covered on PTW. is the WWE still not uploading much about Superstars of Wrestling because somebody else got that phrase trademarked? or was that resolved?

I'm gonna send apologies to the family of Ray Stevens for seeing a facial resemblance between Ray Stevens in the 1982 WWF and current day Steve Bannon. -

IIRC, Nash also gamed workers comp at a Ford plant before getting into wrestling Add another name to the list... Corey Maclin ran for Shelby County Clerk as a Democrat and lost. -
James Laurinaitis Retires from Football
Cobra Commander replied to LowBlowPodcast's topic in Pro Wrestling
circa 2009 on checking Wikipedia, didn't realize Johnny Ace was billed as taller than Animal. The heights/weights (billed) for the Laurinaitis family Animal: 6'2"/305 Johnny Ace: 6'4"/250 Terminator: 6'1"/269 James Laurinaitis: 6'2"/248 So, he might be more of a Jimmy Ace than a Son of Animal, physique-wise -
Vince Russo's not even the most prominent Russo from Long Island to be a SF Giants fan. Both ended up Giants fans through their fathers. Chris Mad Dog Russo has potential to be a better wrestling booker than Vince Russo.
