I truly don't understand why Shida went from Honorable Champion who carried the pandemic era to..... never mentioned again outside of the YouTube shows as soon as they took the title off of her. Conti seemed to be getting a big build up, and then all of a sudden.... YouTube shows. I know Deeb is hurt. and I assume they are trying to postpone Britt/Rosa feuding again. But the division seems to have died the moment Britt won the title, which should have been a huge moment for it.

I found every bit of that far more entertaining than anything that ever happened with The Fiend. Cult Leader Wyatt had so much potential if they'd gone a more Charles Manson/Jim Jones route with it and left the supernatural nonsense alone.

As long as Punk's been out at this point, I don't think working him this way makes a huge difference to non-hardcore fans. I think Bryan is more the guy to use to attract newer, casual fans. With "Ride of the Valykries" being public domain, I would run commercials during Raw and Smackdown for weeks with that song playing, and the words He's Coming in maroon letters. Then end it with All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite, the date of the show, and Only on TNT.

For me the extreme or hardcore style peaked with ECW, and I wish it had died there. When it was just tables, chairs, trash cans, etc and the barbed wire match was the epitome of dangerous. I didn't even mind FMW with their somewhat more extreme version of that same style. At first all of this glass, light tubes, staple guns stuff was a neat oddity, but now it just keeps getting more and more and with shit like this knife slashing I'm afraid of how much further they will have to go to satisfy things eventually. My other issue with it, is that a lot of these guys don't need to do it. When I was working as a ring announcer and a commentator, I worked a ton of shows with Matt Tremont and G-Raver. When they did matches that didn't involve that shit, I thought they were just as good or better than when they were maiming themselves for the same pay. But I guess it doesn't get you noticed. I never had a problem with stuff like Abdullah and his fork, and The Sheik's pencil, because if we are being honest, 95% of the time you could see from the way they were holding it, that it was making minimal contact with the opponent anyway. So, while I don't have the Cornette levels of disdain for the participants and the fans of deathmatches and angles like the knife thing, it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if it dried up and went away tomorrow.
